Mole Rats are creatures seen throughout the Fallout Series.
Background[edit]
A highly bacterial species,[1] Mole Rats have sharp claws and even sharper tusks that they use to tear great chunks of flesh from their prey,[Pub 1] as well as chewing on anything they can find, such as wiring.[2] They are also able to quickly dig and burrow underground, speculated to create miles of underground warrens.[3]
An Enclave field report in Fallout 3 classifies Mole Rats as follows:
- Kingdom: Animalia
- Phylum: Chordata
- Class: Mammalia
- Order: Rodentia
- Family: Bathyergidae

Notes[edit]
Occasionally, one may encounter Mole Rats with explosives attached to their body. The explosives emit ticking sounds and will explode once the Mole Rat comes close enough to an enemy.
Appearances[edit]
Mole Rats appear in Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout Shelter, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. They were going to appear in the canceled Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel 2.
