Superboy is a legacy codename given to multiple heroes in the universe.
The first one to utilize the name was Kal-El / Clark Kent, who originally used it when he was helping others as a teenager in Smallville. He has also been a member of the time-traveling Legion of Super-Heroes. When he grew up, he appropriately adopted the name of Superman. Following Crisis, it was retconned so that Clark had never become Superboy until Birthright reversed it, and later Secret Origin and its spiritual successor storyline Legion of 3 Worlds expanding more upon it. Following Flashpoint, it was again retconned so that Clark had never become Superboy as a teenager until Doomsday Clock which again reversed it. The title of Superboy, first given to Kal-El, was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, first appearing in More Fun Comics #101 (1945).
The second version is Kon-El, also known as Conner Kent; He is a clone of the original Kryptonian Kal-El. He was created by Project Cadmus using DNA contributions from Lex Luthor. During Infinite Crisis he died fighting Superboy-Prime, but he was resurrected during Final Crisis. Following Flashpoint, it was revealed that Kon-El had been trapped in Gemworld just prior to New Earth being rebooted, with him being rescued by Young Justice and finally returning to Prime Earth and rejoining the House of El. Superboy has been a member of the Ravers, Young Justice, the Teen Titans, and the Legion of Super-Heroes. Kon-El was created by Karl Kessel and Tom Grummett, and first appeared in Adventures of Superman #500 (1993).
The third version is a secondary Kon-El. He is a clone of the future Jon Lane Kent, created by Harvest of N.O.W.H.E.R.E., and joined the Teen Titans. First appeared and became Superboy in Superboy (Volume 6) #1 (2011).
The fourth version is Jon Sam Kent, the son of Kal-El and Lois Lane. He was initially a refugee from the defunct New Earth born during Convergence, but was integrated into Prime Earth's history during an altercation with Mister Mxyzptlk. Jon has been a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, the Super Sons and the New Titans. Jonathan Kent became Superboy in Superman (Volume 4) #2 (2016).
