Toyman (disambiguation)

The Toyman is a legacy codename used by several characters, primarily enemies of Superman in the DC Universe.

    • The first Toyman was Winslow Schott, a sociopathic mechanical genius who designs numerous deadly toys as weapons.
    • His brief successor was a criminal named Jack Nimball.
    • In some continuities, his son Winslow, Jr. became the next villainous Toyman.
    • Some bearers of the codename have used it for heroics instead of villainy. The first to do so is a Japanese teenager named Hiro Okamura.

There have been several other versions, although it has been implied that some of them were life-like robots that were created by the original Toyman and were good enough to fool even Superman.

There have also been several similar or related characters such as the Dollmaker, the Toyboy, the Toymaker, and the Toymaster. The Toyman has been involved with the Injustice League, the Legion of Doom, the Secret Society of Super-Villains and the Superman Revenge Squad.

The Toyman was created by Don C. Cameron and Ed Dobrotka, first appearing in Action Comics #64 (1943).
