The Z Channel was one of the early pay television stations in the United States (1974–1989) best known for its devotion to the art of cinema due to the eclectic choice of films by the programming chief Jerry Harvey. The television station went defunct in June 29th, 1989 in which it the company renamed to SportsChannel Los Angeles in June 30th, 1989. Therefore, making it a division of SportsChannel.
1st Ident (1974 - 1976?)
Visuals: On a white background, the text "THE Z" is shown alongside at the bottom saying the word "CHANNEL", the text has a double stroke with the middle being the background color. The "T" is connected to a TV outline (Same for the "Z" but it's not actually connected).
Technique: A still digital graphic.
Audio: A voiceover (Possibly Jerry Harvey) saying "We hope you enjoy the uninterrupted feature film entertainment on The Z Channel, a service of Theta Cable Television." or "You are watching the Z Channel, a service of Theta Cable Television."
Audio Variant:
- Sometimes, it's silent.
- Other occasions have the continuity music play over it.
