Minimum Housing Code

Overview

This code provides the minimum standards required to allow occupancy of structures within the City of Temple Terrace. It describes the basic requirements, like hot and cold water, but also complexities such as the number of required electrical outlets. This directly impacts the health and safety of our residents but also affects the aesthetics and property values within our city. This code also protects tenants by ensuring the minimum standards are maintained.

Violation

This explanation is not all-inclusive, so it is recommended to visit the full code at the link provided in the City Code References below.

The most common violations include damaged or unmaintained exterior walls, roofs, windows, screens, mold, fences, trash accumulation, and paint. The intention of providing information to you about a violation is to alert you and to prevent the deterioration from escalating. These types of violations do not get better with time, while the expense of repair increases. These violations directly impact resident health and safety and pose a hazard.

Corrective Action

Make the necessary repairs as noted in the courtesy or violation notice. The Code Compliance Department is happy to speak with you about remedies to these violations.
