Construction without Permit

Overview

Construction is required to be permitted to ensure the health and safety of residents. Unpermitted work is not guaranteed to be safe, as no checks have been performed to ensure that construction standards have been followed. While specific exceptions are noted in the code, the Code Compliance Department is happy to assist in clarifying or interpreting the code so that the proper and legal steps are followed.

Violation

Unpermitted work is deemed in violation if it includes constructing, enlarging, altering, repairing, moving, demolishing, or changing the occupancy of a building or structure, or erecting, installing, enlarging, altering, repairing, removing, converting, or replacing any electrical, gas, mechanical, or plumbing systems that are regulated by the technical codes.

Corrective Action

If found in violation, stop all work, contact the city's permitting department, and apply for the appropriate permits. The city staff are in place to guide you or answer any questions. More information may be found on the city's website: Permitting Services | Temple Terrace, FL - Official Website
