    Full story

Ten years earlier, Homer started a new job as a safety inspector at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, and Mr. Burns warned him not to press a button unless in an emergency, but he did. In the present day, the alarm goes off while Homer is eating pizza at his workstation and is too lazy to get up, so he reluctantly asks Lenny to press a button to shut it off. At home, the kids are so excited to go to the state park for a family trip, while Homer feels exhausted and lazy.

The kids went to the waterfall, where they collected a stamp at the station. Homer continues complaining that weekends should be for relaxing, referring to the site as "Serenity Peak - Tranquility Grove." Bart and Lisa found a stamping station at Bootlegger's Hideout as Marge tried to share its story. Homer is looking at their ranks on his phone. Finishing it up, all stamps were collected and went to the Visitors Center, where they received a Wilderness Explorer Completion Trophy. Homer complains again, but Marge asks him to pretend to be enthusiastic for parenting. He picks up a stress ball and fakes enthusiasm as advised, winning over them and the rest of the shop, all while catching the attention of a shady-looking guy.

At home, the guy is looking for Homer, revealing Duffman, with whom he no longer works at the Duff Corporation but now works for Enthusiasm, as he was at the gift shop just like Homer, and he is advertising Homer for a new job to Enthusiasm on Demand. After an EoD van devilered, Homer began riding a self-balancing unicycle to convince people in front of the camera on the mine shaft disaster, making people happy. At the office, the CEO, Consonance, should take the lead in completing Project Dark Contrivance Praise.

Homer is tasked to sell UnDuff Nothin' non-alcoholic beer to them, where he goes to Barney's Bowlarama to attempt to sell it to his friends and others, but he cannot do it. As a result, Homer receives a phone call from Consonance to report to her office for a surgical procedure called Seperance to remove this obstacle. Homer becomes enthusiastic at work, but Marge goes to the headquarters to confront and show videos of Homer with no energy at home to Consonance, who offers Marge a job to join Seperance as well to spend more time with Homer.

As soon as they return home, Bart and Lisa notice that Homer and Marge are acting like zombies. Bart and Lisa went to the headquarters to confront, and Duffman showed up to help them. He had to quit because his family had no energy left. They sneaked back door and went through to the office while the alarm system was activated, when a red kangaroo carrying a baby spotted them, confronting Consonance, who took them to their parents. Consonance shows them to the founder to reveal that they provide services for money. Asking them what happened to their parents, it was revealed to be just a surgical procedure to make a job. Bart and Lisa are begging their parents not to lose their energy, so Homer and Marge have to quit jobs.

At home, Bart becomes a karate expert, while Lisa makes popsicle stick puppets, much to the pride of Homer and Marge. Bart is the only one wondering if they’re faking it, while Lisa doesn't care. Homer and Marge are sitting on the couch, with their energy completely drained.
