Full story
After celebrating Marge's 43rd birthday, she is serving breakfast. Homer rushes downstairs before his teenage children eat all the food and work up a sweat. Marge asks Homer how planning Ned's wedding speech is going, and he's happy that he came up with a clever, clever mean joke to share. Bart and Lisa come downstairs, with Lisa complaining about acne and other puberty challenges; Marge tells her that the changes a woman goes through are beautiful. Bart asks for more food, but there is nothing left, as Marge says she cannot keep up with his appetite. Homer mentions that he can eat the chili from the earthquake kit in the cabinet; Bart cannot reach it, so Lisa helps him (as girls are usually taller than boys during puberty), but not without teasing him. Bart grabs a key and is about to drive to school, which scares Maggie. She is about to protest, but Marge tells her not to speak as she is still recovering from laryngitis. However, Maggie speaks anyway, saying that she doesn't want Bart to drive because he drives recklessly and angers other drivers. Marge then gets the key back from Bart, much to his annoyance.
Later, Marge drives Lisa to school and encourages her to start performing again. However, Lisa has lost her confidence and isn't in the mood to sing "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)" with Marge like they used to. Lisa complains about being selected to perform at Ned's wedding, but Marge says that she was always a good performer, showing a video of 8-year-old Lisa playing her saxophone. Lisa simply doesn't want to be in front of "so many eyes." They arrive at school, and Marge hands Lisa a "Welcome to Womanhood" bag just in case she gets her first period. People began looking at Lisa, which is exactly what she didn't want to happen, and she quickly left.
Marge joins other mothers to discuss perimenopause at Luann's house. Luann then takes Botox to improve her face, but Marge declines to take any and leaves. Marge later wakes up at 3:17 AM (which Luann warned would happen due to perimenopause), and rearranges the living room (Luann warned her about this as well). She then sees Bart's backpack and the manga book sticking out of it, Robot Kaiju Honor Battle. She reads it and is horrified due to its depiction of a robot with large breasts. Homer tells her that it's normal for boys to read such things, but Marge is more unsettled by the thought that he might also be watching "live-action romance content" (e.g. pornography).
Later, Homer meets Ned and his fiancée Pam, and she asks him how his speech is going. Homer writes a note down how Ned saved her life during Mardi Gras. Later, while reading his magazine at work, Homer gets a call from a Sprawl-Mart manager, who tells him that Marge is in the store suffering a hot flash. She is cooling off in a freezer for half an hour, believing she is experiencing perimenopause.
As Marge argues with the children during breakfast, Homer manages to calm them down by speaking softly. Marge goes to Foot Swamp to look for the special shoes that Maggie requested, but Sherri (or Terri) says they don't have them. Marge then spots her ex-boyfriend Artie Ziff and quickly hides behind a cardboard cutout of Aeropos Walkov, but Artie sees her anyway. Marge braces herself for Artie's flirtatious remarks, but Artie doesn't do so: he no longer finds her attractive due to her age and appearance. Marge sees herself in a mirror and is disappointed with what she sees, so she heads over to Luann's house to get Botox after all. Lisa spots her and furiously calls her a hypocrite, as Marge previously told her not to be ashamed of any changes. To make Marge more upset, Lisa reveals that she got her first period at school. Nobody else knew except for Coach Krupt, who ironically comforted Lisa when it happened.
Homer calms down Marge and Lisa, and even gives therapy to Santa's Little Helper and Snowball II, who were also fighting. Marge finds Bart's tablet and is shocked to see the "live-action romance content" that she was afraid of, so she confiscates all of his devices. Marge ends up going to the hospital as she is too worked up: she is prescribed Preparation XX cream and is encouraged to attend Perimenopause: The Peri-Musical!, which Patty and Selma also watch. When Marge returns home, Homer reveals that he purchased a smart refrigerator that buys and gets food delivered for them. Marge is relieved, especially when Maggie's hard-to-find shoes are also delivered.
Marge and Homer go up to the bedroom to make out, but Homer realizes that he is experiencing erectile dysfunction. He calls 911 and is rushed to the hospital, where he is given medication by Dr. Hibbert. When Homer gets home, he is angry with the "testosterone of a 20-year-old and the patience of a 12-year-old"; he is unable to defuse arguments like he was able to before. Soon enough, the family is arguing all over again. They soon realize they are late to Flanders' wedding, losing track of time since Marge confiscated all of the devices, although there is still the smart refrigerator. Bart panics because he used the smart fridge to look up porn; Marge checks the search history and is so angry that she destroys the entire fridge. Marge and Homer are too unstable to drive, so Bart takes the wheel, causing everyone to scream as he drives recklessly on the way to the church. They arrive, but not without crashing into the wedding limo. Maggie realizes that she forgot her flower basket, but Marge gives her a bag of potato chips instead.
At the wedding reception, Homer is unable to focus and needs Marge's Preparation XX to calm himself down before starting his speech. As it makes him emotional, he ends up delivering a heartfelt toast to Ned. While Bart is recording the reception, he goes and talks to a girl named Carrie; Marge is happy that Bart is talking to a girl, and even for being awkward about it, reminding her of when she and Homer first met. Marge suffers a hot flash again, and asks for the Preparation XX back, but Homer used all of it; she douses herself in cold water to cool down. After Marge had previously apologized to Lisa for making womanhood seem so awful, and that Lisa does not have to perform at the wedding, Lisa decides to do so anyway. She was tasked with performing "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran (requested by Ned and praised by Lenny), but instead decides to perform "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)" as a tribute to her mother. Marge happily gets up and dances with Homer.
