You know what's even nerdier and niche-ier than writing an entire entry about a hypothetical Super Smash Bros. moveset for the guide to a video game manual?

Writing TWO entries about a moveset for the guide to a game manual, of course! :P


I wrote that first entry about Mary O. & Yamamura's made-up moveset shortly before the E3 reveal of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and since then I've thought of some updates to make to it based on what was revealed about the actual game... enough that I'm gonna have to bore everyone with another entry about it so I don't have to keep getting distracted thinking about the idea! Since the actual game comes out this week, now seems like the right time. :)


In the unlikely event that you're interested in reading this entry but haven't read the first one yet, I'd recommend reading that one first. Because in this entry I mostly only describe the changes I made, without repeating anything I decided to leave unchanged.

pathvain_aelien stayed at my apartment for a while; in that time we watched the How To Train Your Dragon TV show! (Specifically, the third of the three shows there were. P_A, what was the third show called again? Dragons: Race to the Edge.) We made it to season 4. :) Have any of you watched it?

It's no secret that I've fallen really far behind on my plan to backup some of my Miiverse posts on LJ/DW once a week. So I have an idea of how to get on a regular schedule that I'll have more motivation to stick to: start posting them once every two weeks instead of one, and act as if this had been my schedule all along starting from my first Miiverse backup entry - meaning the second Miiverse backup entry is now retroactively considered to be posted a week early (being one week after the first rather than two), the third one is retroactively considered to be two weeks early (being two weeks after the first instead of four), and so on.

As I've posted 23 Miiverse backup entries so far, that means the next one would get posted 23×2=46 weeks after the first, which would be the week of... December 12? So this means I'm now "still" caught up! :)

Do me a favor. The next time I consider doing some sort of regular feature on LJ or DW that requires me to upload new images or post entries with images in them once a week, please remind me about this and try to convince me to bring it down to once every two weeks...

Finally, now that the last Super Smash Bros. Direct is out, I'll give you another taste of just how weird it is in the mind of Matt1993:

- When I first saw a screenshot of Kirby's Peach copy ability in Super Smash Bros. Melee (when I was 9), I somehow didn't realize that was Peach's crown - my mind jumped to the conclusion that King Bob-omb from Super Mario 64 was playable and either that was his pink alternate costume or Kirby's King Bob-omb copy ability.
- I made up an entire moveset for Mary O. & Yamamura from Super Mario Maker and posted it earlier this year. (And I've brought up the idea even earlier than that - see the music tag on that April Fools entry.)
- And somehow, despite all of that, I still at no point expected a Piranha Plant to be a playable character.

Also, why is it that so many Super Smash Bros. fans hate each other over who's playable or different opinions about who they want to playable?

Earlier today, I had what is probably the best idea I've ever had since... something that was a very good idea.

I've had this same journal style ("Pale Yellows" recolored to have a black background with the colors that the letters and digits in "matt1993" have in my synesthesia) since before the Forbidden Comment Threads - about 0;139 BFCTE, to be precise - long after I eventually discovered that seeing red and green text on a black background all the time started to hurt my eyes after a while. Before that, beginning at some point in 2009, it was "Pale Yellows" recolored with tetradic colors, which made it yellow, purple, blue, and bluish-green, if I remember correctly - and the entries had black text on a white background. And even further back, it was "Pale Yellows" with no changes to the colors. I know I changed the font at some point but I don't exactly remember when.

Anyway, even though I knew that the synesthesia version (at least the way I'd implemented it) started to hurt my eyes after a while and has probably been hurting your eyes for even longer than that (unless you're relatively new here), I put off changing it again for a REALLY long time. I don't really remember why.

Well, now I have a second reason to change it: I'm considering changing it back to the unmodified (palette-wise) version of Pale Yellows! It would hopefully feel like a new beginning or a return to the good old days in 2009 when my journal was actually interesting and not just a whole bunch of "It's been 3½ years and what happened in asperger still makes me feel like every word I say will be seen as racist, sexist, and homophobic..." entries! (speaking of, I feel that it's important to show you guys the newest reason I have for feeling that way... [EDIT IN 2019: Well, apparently the video is no longer there (probably for good reason), and the closest thing I could find to an archive of it is this (and I'd completely even forgotten what video I was talking about until I saw the title and was like "oh yeah, that thing"), so I guess I'll reluctantly have to describe it: ( Collapse )]) And I never did finish updating all of the images that are broken now that Ours Will You 1-Up is nope more - maybe seeing my old journal style will help motivate me to work on it!

I haven't changed it yet, though. I just feel the need to give you guys some sort of heads up that my journal might suddenly have a "new" style. :)

EDIT: Forgot to mention (in case anyone is like "Aw, but I liked how you worked your synesthesia into your journal style!"): It's possible that later on, I will find some other way to work my synesthesia's colors for "matt1993" into my journal style, but I will still take care to avoid having light text on dark backgrounds. My CS professors have made it all too clear to me that it's hard to read. :)


In other news, despite getting Tomodachi Life for my birthday last year, it wasn't until this month that I started getting really addicted to it. I'm saying this because the first step to finding a solution is admitting that I have a problem, so I will: My problem is that Enya probably still has feelings for Mario even though he's with Peach, and Zelda probably still has feelings for Strong Sad even though he's with Dido. LOL

So turns out ACTA was postponed today! Yay!!

I'm gonna wait a little longer before I revert my protest userpics, so that just in case we find about another bill like SOPA/PIPA/ACTA that's somehow secretly been signed by nearly enough countries for it to pass without anyone knowing for years, I'll have slightly less work to do. Until then, I'll just use the ones I didn't get to replace. :)

I wonder who glued Mulder's hand to his face? Or maybe he's just taking "talk to the hand" too literally. :)

EDIT IN 2018: Not only is the image gone now, but I don't remember what any of it said :( But at least I remember that Mulder appearing to have his hand glued to his face throughout the entire thing was the best part in my opinion. :)

I just played the entire Ball Revamped series start to finish within two days. Sure, I didn't get good scores, only beat some levels on the first try, and didn't get all the achievements in Ball Revamped 5...but I still beat all five within two days! Go me!
[I guess this counts as a spoiler, sort of, but I didn’t mark it as such for nearly seven years]Also, anyone know whether or not the Creator (the final boss of BR4) is related to Master Hand? They are both just hands...
