I desperately need to distract myself from work and other things that are bothering me, and thus, I give you linkspam.

Cut as it's on the long side. Trilly, Conficer, NOM, teabagging, cuteness, disasterporn, pirates, ATM skimmers, and recylcing away! )

In conclusion, I am totally singing "Rebel Yell" like this:

In the midnight hour she cried, NOM NOM NOM
With a rebel yell she cried, NOM NOM NOM
In the midnight hour, babe, NOM NOM NOM
With a rebel yell, NOM NOM NOM
NOM NOM NOM.

Also in conclusion, I love my friends.

Sooooooooo. What's everyone doing for Earth Hour tonight?

I'm even going to shut off the laptop and the modem and the router.

SHOCKING I KNOW.

I'll be twitching by 9:00. ;)

Vermont Senate votes to legalize same-sex marriage! Whoo hoo! Off to the House, where it is also expected to be approved. The governor, however, may veto it. D: But that could be overridden! :D Come to New England, where it's A-OK to be GAY!

A behind the scenes clip from Leverage. No, really. "I think that was the Make-a-Wish kid...."

Earth Hour 2009: Mark Your Calendars. Earth Hour is this Saturday, March 28, at 8:30 local time. Switch off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour. [If I run my laptop on battery, does it still count?]

Top 10 Volcanoes in Geologic History. Mmm, disaster porn.

Signs of Spring. Boston.com's Big Picture has pretty pretty pictures from around the world.

Slug porn. Proof that same-sex sexual relations is all part of the natural order, yo.

This cat has learned from Tristan.

Edible Gummy Shot Glasses. I so must try this (along with the Skittles-infused vodka).

More Big Picture: Undersea eruptions near Tonga.

Entire Cosmos series is on Hulu. Guh. I own the series on VHS (must get on DVD, must!), and I love it. Our knowledge of the cosmos has increased since the documentary was created, but it's still fascinating. Sadly, US only.

Anyone want to go on Graveyard tour? Anyone?

And finally...KITTY PILE.

Brighter Planet's 350 Challenge

Check out 350.brigherplanet.com/. Just place their badge on your blog (see above and on my profile page), let Brighter Planet know, and they’ll offset 350 pounds of carbon in your name. Why 350 pounds? According to the website, 350 is the parts per million of CO2 in the atmosphere that we must aim for if we want to keep the planet relatively safe. Brighter Planet’s 350 Challenge: Get 350 bloggers to post the badge, and each receives a 350 carbon offset in their name. It’s been hugely successful with more than 1,600 badging-up.

So, why not? :)

It causes me pain these days if I forget my reusable shopping bags and need to use a plastic one. I've switched almost all my lightbulbs out for more energy efficient ones. I barely turned the heat on at all this winter. I just really need to work on speeding.

I am in love love love with my new shampoo. Last month I picked up Giovanni's Tea Tree Triple Treat Shampoo and Conditioner. (Giovanni's website is here, but it is sadly obnoxious with music you can't seem to turn off.) It's all happy and organic and vegetarian and Leaping Bunny certified (no animal testing/cruelty-free). Tea tree oil, peppermint oil, eucalyptus oil, rosemary oil, thyme oil, lavender, yarrow, other stuff, and no sulfates. They brag that it's a natural skin antiseptic and moisturizer to alleviate dry flaking scalp, unclogs pores and brings increased circulation to the scalp, cleans and clarifies hair and scalp of dirt, chlorine, chemicals, and build-up from other hair products. "Of the essential oils, Tea Tree is a very well known natural antiseptic. Rosemary and Eucalyptus condition and protect the hair and scalp form oxidizing elements while Peppermint, as a natural stimulant, gives a pleasant 'tingly' sensation to the scalp. All combined, this tri-functional shampoo brings back to hair, body, luster and life." It's definitely tingly! Very cooling and makes my hair look great.

[Special note to [livejournal.com profile] ladybug218 and [livejournal.com profile] koshkaphoenix -- there's some in the In Case of Nic Break Glass bin if you want to try it. :) ]

Then today while I was killing time at the drug store while my car was being poked at, I found Giovanni's Cool Mint Lemonade Salt Scrub with Crushed Mint Leaves. Had to get that, of course. Mmm. I smell like a mojito now.

Sadly, I found out about this a day too late: International Sunflower Guerilla Day! The idea is you find some poor, neglected, but sunny space near where you live and plant sunflowers. Come back and visit from time to time to weed or clear litter, and by August there will be happy sunflowers. Re-Nest suggests that every day in May be SGD, so I'm going to buy some seeds and find a place around here to plant them. :)
