Skinny Dipping

Title: Skinny Dipping
House: Gryffindor
Word Count: 100
Characters/Pairings: Remus, James, Sirius
Author's Notes: This is my first post here.

The air was frigid and Remus could feel it clinging to his skin, like a shirt three sizes too small. He was regretting having come along with the other marauders that night, and so were his violently shivering limbs. The lake was looking at him; its stare seemed threatening.

“Come on!” James called, ripping off his underwear and standing naked on the grounds, grinning. Sirius had gotten naked first, and he was already running toward the shore of the lake unabashedly.

“Fuck it all,” Remus grumbled, stripping and following Sirius. The air was cold, but the water was even colder.

Black and White

Title: Black and White
House: Hufflepuff
Word Count: 100
Characters/Pairings: Remus Lupin
Author's Notes: Set in 1981.
---------

Remus Lupin could not believe that it had only been a week since his world had turned upside-down. He had always believed in a black-and-white world. Wizards were either Light or Dark, and the difference was easy to see. And then… James and Lily were dead, his bright Sirius was Dark, terrified Peter was courageous, and Severus Snape was, according to Headmaster Dumbledore, a hero of the highest order. Remus could not wrap his head around that one. If Severus Snape wasn’t a Dark, greasy git, Remus couldn’t be certain of anything. Then again, perhaps that wasn’t a bad thing.

Rating: G
A/N: DH spoilers, obviously. And I imagine this as taking place before they had kids, or even thought of having kids.

Ginny was sleeping when he left. He kissed her forehead, placed the note on his abandoned pillow. He wanted to say goodbye, but he couldn't stand that look she always gave when she was left behind.

He slipped into the Ministry, unnoticed and silent, careful footsteps led him by memory and instinct to the dais.

For just a moment, he thought of Ginny, but he'd grown used to missing someone. She would, too.

The veil still looked the same as always, the same voices whispered, but more fervently now, beckoning him. He could almost understand them now.

He stepped forward.

A/N: I imagine that when you're dead, time is merely a humanly constraint. This all happens between the time Harry turns the stone over and they all appear. There has to be a moment, right? When they are back together and all is right and tonks is dead and gone damn it.

Remus awoke to Sirius crouching next to him. They were in the woods, inexplicably, and Sirius was translucent.

“Huh,” Remus said, “I've gone completely round the bend, haven't I?”

“No, you've merely died.” Sirius was grinning as he helped Remus up and grabbed him. Something was building in his chest, tight and overwhelming, and he clung to Sirius.

“Why-?”

“We've got to help Harry. He's dying.”

“Oh,” Remus said. He found it hard to be concerned when Sirius was so close. “I missed you.”

Sirius pulled him tighter. “I never left you, Moony. I was waiting right here for you.”

Bittersweet Gifting/Nameless Envy

Title: Bittersweet Gifting
House: Gryffindor
Rating: PG
Characters: Remus’ father
Challenge: Under Construction
Word Count: 100
A/N: Depressing, even to myself.

He ordered it from the Wizarding Supply Catalogue, rush delivery, of course. When it came, he read the instructions and began assembly. Eventually, he turned it into a game; for each properly assembled piece, he had to take a shot. It didn’t make the work any easier but it made it go by faster.

The next morning, reeking of liquer, he watched as his son found the construct behind the Christmas tree.

As Remus solemly locked the himself in the warded cage, he grasped his father’s hands, “This is the best present, father. You will be safe from me, now.”

Title: Nameless Envy
House: Gryffindor
Rating: PG
Characters: Remus and Sirius
Challenge: Under Construction
Word Count: 100
A/N: For some reason, this one is really depressing to me to. Gah, you would think I was in a rotten mood or something.

Remus was the only one that he entrusted with his secret, being the only one he could get it shipped to. The night it came, he went to Remus’ to assemble it.

Hours, and a couple of bottles later, the two of them finished. They both stared at it, burning with nameless envy and a vague hint of regret, which defied explanation.

When Lily and James came home from the hospital, they walked into the nursery to see the beautiful rocking chair, ready for use. The note on it said simply, “From Remus and Sirius. Rock him one for us.”

Understanding

Title: Understanding
Word Count: 100
House: Slytherin
Challenge: Direction

Remus realized this was a mistake. He should have said no, but Tonks had a persuasive manner. His protests fell short of his actions.

As he lay in bed, Remus thought about which direction he should take. He would explain how his afflictions would haunt them. He would make her understand how hopeless their relationship would become.

With her head resting on his chest, Remus could feel her sleeping body rise and fall with each breath. He stroked her hair and marveled at the transforming colors. She stirred.

It can wait until later, he mused as he held her close.

Eight Ball/Mere Mortals/Coercion/Ashes to Ashes

Title: Eight Ball
House: Gryffindor
Rating: PG
Characters: Harry, George and Fred
Challenge: Magical Items and Devices
Word Count: 100
A/N: LOL! Sorry, I cracked myself up with this one. It just seems a Weasley thing to do.

"Hey, is that what I think that is?" Harry asked, picking up the black round ball, "You know, they have these things in the Muggle world."

Fred and George shared a conspiratorial look, "Really?"

Harry rattled the ball, "Yeah, they call it the Magic Eight Ball. You ask a simple question and it replies."

"That's the general idea."

"Go on, ask it a question"

Harry turned ashen, dropped the ball, and bolted from the shop. Fred picked the ball up, "That's the third one this week, George."

George sighed, "I know. Who knew an honesty spell could be that cruel?"

Title: Mere Mortals
House: Gryffindor
Rating: PG
Characters: Peter, mentions James and Sirius
Challenge: Magical Items and Devices
Word Count: 100
A/N: Peter is sitting, watching James play with the snitch. Set right before their graduation.

Oh, god, there he goes again, playing with the stupid snitch. I wish he would just leave the damn thing in the box, like he is supposed to, but no, Mr. James my ego is the size of a watermelon Potter is too good for rules that the mere mortals must obey. He is such an arrogant pig!

Oh, great, there's Sirius. He is just as bad. Always sniffing around the girls and playing nasty pranks on people. If anything, he is more arrogant than James. God, I hate them!

They are everything I am not and will never be.

Title: Coercion

Banquet

Title: Banquet
House: Slytherin
Word Count: 100
Challenge: Starve

Remus understood her overture. She had made it clear as to how she felt.

What she wanted from him he wasn’t sure could be given. A loner for too long, the idea of a companion was alluring and alarming at the same time to Remus. Tonks was unafraid of the dangers he carried with him yet he feared for her safety and well being.

But the years of loneliness and rejection had battered him enough. Her offer was a salvation from it. Like a starved man at a banquet, Remus reached for her and reveled in her warmth and love.

It Is How You Say It

Title: It Is How You Say It
Word Count: 100
House: Slytherin
Challenge: What is in a name

Her father used to sing her name in his soft northern accent. Mother pronounced each syllable as if it each was a word unto itself. NYMPH-A-DOR-AHHH.

Either way, Tonks grew to hate her name.

Saying it could cause an explosion of red hair and black eyes to emerge. She seethed each time someone made the mistake.

Yet when Remus whispered "Nymphadora" in her ear and ran his lips down her cheek, he silenced her protests with a kiss.

It was then Tonks learned sometimes it was not what you were saying that was so important, but how you said it.
