Smoke wafted across the field – Ron and Hermione held their breath as a figure began emerging…
“Watch it!” Ron bellowed, and the assembled army raised their wands.
“It’s alright,” Harry called, finally emerged, “I think…”
He paused, wand trembling in his shaking hands.
“I think we won.”
There was a moment of stunned silence, and then Ron’s whoop of triumph led the great, ear-splitting roar, as the Trio ran towards one another, laughing and crying.
Meanwhile, miles away, beneath the deep, cool water of the lake, the Darkest wizard that ever lived twined his eight arms and plotted his revenge…

“Alright,” Harry said, striding up and down before the D.A. as he thought aloud, “I learned something important last year…about playing to your strengths. When you’re up against something insurmountable…best to think of what you’re good at, and start from there. So! What are our strengths?”
He faced them expectantly.
Neville timidly raised his hand. “Herbology?”
“Good!” Harry encouraged, “Come on! Someone else!”
“I’m really good with switching spells!” Parvati offered, confidently.
“Arithmancy,” Hermione beamed in spite of herself.
“And everything else,” Ron muttered quietly.
“I see dead people,” Luna said serenely.
They all turned slowly to look at her.

Title: Missing Him Words: 100 House: Hufflepuff! Go Badgers! Challenge: Miss Characters: Hermione, Ron Author Notes: Character death warning. Pg-13.
“Will you miss me?”
“‘Course,” Ron said, dully. Hermione knew it was a lie. She simply sighed, gave Ron an empty kiss on the cheek and let him go.
Their lives had become nothing outside of Harry’s death. At first it had been funeral arrangements, weeping friends to console. Then it was Orders of Merlin, Ministry appointments. Now it was lecture series, interviews, the International Confederation, Goodwill tours.
“We haven’t had sex in weeks,” Hermione had complained.
“Do you really want to?”
That had shut her up.
They were like dead leaves, blown by the same wind.

“So, what do you miss the most?”
Sirius smiled, “You of course. But I don’t have to worry about that anymore. How about you?”
“Ron and Hermione, definitely,” Harry said, “And Remus. And – well, all of them. All the friends I’ve made since I discovered I was a wizard.”
“Don’t worry, Harry,” Sirius beamed, “I’ve got you now, haven’t I? Eventually, we’ll all be together. And speaking of which…there’s some people here who have been missing you a very long time.”
Harry’s face split into a toothy, childlike grin, as he ran into the arms of his mother and father.
Title: In-Flight Entertainment Words: 100 House: :singing: “Puff the Magic Badger, lived in a den…” Challenge: Miss Characters: Trio Author Notes: Felt like something GOOD happening to them for once! This feels like the beginning of a ficlet. A very trite one, actually.
“Excuse me, miss? ‘Nother one of those, thank you.”
“Honestly, Ron, how many are you planning on having before we leave England?”
“It’s a long flight, Hermione! Besides, I’ll probably never fly first class again.”
Harry snuggled into his leather recliner, and tuned out Ron and Hermione comfortably. This trip to America was a dream come true. Hermione was delighted to be attending the Salem seminar, Ron was desperately looking forward to the Sidewinders match in the Grand Canyon, and Harry could put up with a few keynote addresses if it meant two weeks’ vacation with his two favorite people.
Title: Tough Love Words: 100 Challenge: Miss House: Hufflepuff Characters: Ron, Hermione, miscellaneous students. Author Notes: Post-Hogwarts
“Miss Granger,” purred a surprisingly deep voice.
Hermione felt shivers go down her back. No one had called her that since Hogwarts. After graduation, she’d insisted on “Ms.,” thank you very much. All-purpose, no annoying insistence on marital status – utilitarian, without the pretense of “Madame.”
“Or should I say, Supreme Mugwump?”
“Honestly, Ron!”
“Well, Miss Granger, you have been very naughty and interrupted my class,” Ron said, lounging with a grin on the edge of his desk, “Five points from Gryffindor, I think.”
His Defense class tittered, and Hermione’s heart skipped a beat.
Why hadn’t she visited Hogwarts more often?

It had nearly broken Hermione’s heart, when she found out. She and Harry had been trying for years – and now they knew why.
“I’m a failure!” she’d sobbed. Harry patted her back awkwardly, as Ron looked on, helpless…
…but not Ginny.
They’d been absolutely overwhelmed by the offer, and refused immediately, of course – nobody could accept such a gift. But Ginny was insistent.
“It’s a simple procedure, Hermione – and you know us Weasleys, it’ll definitely work…Besides, I love you two. Let me do this.”
And yesterday, at last, a message on the phone:
“Congratulations, Mum and Dad - I’m late.”

Title: Mollifying Challenge: Promises/Resolutions House: Hufflepuff Words: 100 Characters: R/H Author Notes: Eh...not my favorite...I just think MiddleAge!Ron is cute. I figured coffee became a vital food group during his Auror training.
“They didn’t mean Muggle sweets!”
“You know full well what the Healer said, Ron Weasley, and no more table salt, and you have to cut down on the coffee as well.”
“Fine. No more table salt, and no more sweets.”
“And the coffee? Ron?”
“We’ll see.”
“Ron! You have got to get your blood pressure down!”
“Well, I figure we’re all gonna die, anyway, but what’s life without coffee?”
“Don’t joke about dying.”
“‘Mione…come on, don’t be stupid…I’m not going to die…Alright, fine. No coffee. Starting tomorrow.”
