The April prize was donated by mkissa (2 magical fat quarters), queenmlv (embroidered quilt label), ladyoflosttimes (snitch pendant), hpfan_poa (Flying Harry pendant), lunaneela (Hogwarts pin cushion) and Sewhooked (HP Quiddtich fat quarter & PoD button). Prizes will vary slightly month to month and are awarded the last Tuesday of the month.

Please remember that to be eligible for the monthly drawing, you need to be a member of hp_paperpiecing and share block photos that will then be posted by me for Tuesday Photos. Only block photos made with patterns from Sewhooked or hp_paperpiecing are eligible.

Share your photos by emailing them to me, posting links OR images in the comments of any post OR by posting them to our flickr group! Please note that if you post your photos in the flickr group or in comments, it is not necessary to email them to me. You can share any Harry Potter block photo any time, including PoD photos, so if you have a late start, please continue to share! If I ever miss your photos, please let me know!

Need Your Input
I'm thinking about giving everyone a week off between week 15 and week 16. This would be for those of you that need a little time to play catch up. I'm okay from my end, but I also know that it's easy to get behind and I want you all to be having fun, not stressing out! Please fill out the poll and let me know what you think. It's really a yes or no question, but comments are always welcome.

Complete Your Quilt Top Challenge!

Photobucket

Welcome to voting for hp_paperpiecing's first ever Complete Your Quilt Top Challenge! This is the longest and biggest challenge we've ever had, and definitely the most rewarding.

To all the challengers: thank you! I know how much work you all put into getting your quilt tops completed. The best part of this challenge is not the prize, though that is amazing and awesome and hermione_jean of Rock Creek Quilts (and our official HP quilter!) deserves a thousand butterbeers for so generously donating her time. The best part of this challenge is how many people have been brought together and become friends through quilting Harry Potter. You are all amazing and I feel insanely lucky to have gotten to be a part of this.

Good luck challengers, and remember: even if you don't win, you still finished your quilt top...that's an awesome prize in itself!

I encourage you all to click on the thumbnail of each quilt and enjoying the full-sized image before deciding which to vote on. Remember, the prize for winning this challenge is professional quilting of the winning top from Rock Creek Quilts!! (See, I said she needs a load of butterbeers!).

To keep this as fair as possible, only members of hp_paperpiecing can vote. Voting will end Tuesday July 13. EDIT: New memberships are on hold until voting is over.

sister community?

As you all are probably aware of by now, hp_paperpiecing is where I share my Harry Potter inspired paper pieced patterns. They are posted here for you all to try first and then are archived on my website.

It's been suggested to me that it would be nice to have an LJ sister community to hp_paperpiecing where members can post their own photos of blocks made from my patterns, ask questions, and share related projects or patterns.

I am always open to new ideas and suggestions, especially if you all feel like it would be good for you! If you like the idea, we'll start a new community.

One Block Challenge - Vote!

The challenge poll will remain up until I'm home from vacation, which should be on July 23. It's going to be hard to choose a favorite, but I'm going to try!

Challenge entries are posted in the order that they were submitted. Remember, the challenge was to use one block from hp_paperpiecing, 5" or larger, in a project.

Thank you for voting and thank you especially to the participants. I hope this is the first of many challenges! The winner will be announced when I return from vacation. She will receive a $10 gift card to the fabric or craft store of her choice.

Difficulty Rating Poll

Behind the cut is a poll that includes what I hope are all the patterns I've posted here at hp_paperpiecing. If you would be so kind as to rate any patterns you yourself have tested or attempted on a scale of one to ten. This will eventually translate to the "wands" rating I give my patterns.

Thank you so very much for your continued help and support!

EDITED to add that I've filled out the poll based on my original assessment of each pattern on a 1-5 scale.
