Insolent pup. Apologize now and you'll not be hurt.

Rhombus is the Head Paladin and Head Knight of the Lost Hills chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout.[1][Pub 1] He led the expedition east towards the Vault-Tec Corporate Vault and fought the Brotherhood-Attis War in Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel.

Background[edit]

Fallout[edit]

Rhombus is the head of the Brotherhood military in Lost Hills, where he serves as a mentor for knights.[Pub 1] He provides information about current topics and individuals within the Brotherhood.[Pub 1] He was promoted to Head Paladin when John Maxson became High Elder, and Maxson refers to him as "a bit stiff, but a helluva soldier."[2] Vree states that Rhombus enforces the High Elder's wishes, "with force, if necessary."[3]

Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel[edit]

Rhombus led the fight against a large faction of super mutants known as the Super Mutants. They established their headquarters in the Brotherhood of Steel Automated Training Center, heading out to meet the army in the ghoul city of Los. In the Church of the Lost, Rhombus is tortured but liberated by the Initiate.

He is also a playable character, after completing chapter two. His advantages are listed below:

Quotes[edit]

Fallout
  • "I am Rhombus, head of the Paladins. I train those willing to learn."
  • "Stuff? I could teach you how to fight...if you had any ability. But the High Elder decreed no training of new recruits until the threat of invasion passes."
  • "The Scribes copy the plans for the weapons, and the Knights make them. The Paladins protect the Brotherhood from harm."
  • "Many covet our technology. We have at least four attacks a week, from raiders to just people who want to steal what we have."
  • "Insolent pup. Apologize now and you'll not be hurt."
Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel
  • "You - you're the only one?!? Those idiots on the Brotherhood council! I warned them that this region contained significant activity! And they sent a - a... You're not even a full paladin, are you? How preposterous!"
  • "I have fought the mutants all my life, but you may be too young to recall their savagery... They threaten all life because they wish to become the dominant species on earth, crushing the world in their grasp."
  • "When I was younger... I would have laughed at a wound like this! Looks like you've finished that abomination Blake... but your work isn't done yet."
  • "This is no longer my fight, soldier. Here, take my Brotherhood Insignia. A sign of my trust... that you will do what must be done..."

Notes[edit]

Rhombus is a key figure in determining the course of the Brotherhood. The ending outlining his death is described as bringing about a "Steel Plague" that would last one thousand years.[4]
