Norman "Norm" MacLean is a character in the Fallout Television Series.
Background[edit]
Norm is the son of Rose and Overseer Hank MacLean, brother of Lucy and cousin of Chet. He lives in Vault 33. As a child, he was taken from Vault 33 alongside his sister by their mother and taken to Shady Sands. They were found by Hank, who took the children back to the vault, nuking Shady Sands in the process and ghoulifing Rose.[1] Norm has held several positions within the vault, but has been repeatedly reassigned due to a lack of enthusiasm for his tasks.

By Episode[edit]
S1E1 - The End
Norm is first seen during his family's book club, playing on his Pip-Boy 3000 Mark V rather than participating in the discussion. He is again seen on his Pip-Boy during the preparation for his sister, Lucy's, wedding, for which his father, Hank, quietly chastises him. After Betty Pearson ushers the vault dwellers to the Vault 32 Door to welcome their guests for the triennial trade, Norm walks with his sister, joking about her future husband and his potential looks, cannibalistic diet, and number of bodily tumors, which his father once again chastises him for. During Lucy and Monty's wedding dinner, Norm is seated directly across from Lee Moldaver, and listens to his father's speech in Lucy's honor. During the speech, he repeatedly glances around at the fellow guests. During the dance, Norm stays near his father, laughing and smiling with him.
After the festivities die down, Norm heads to Vault 32, discovering the vault in disrepair and all its crops dead. Upon discovering the rotting corpse of a Vault Dweller, he rushes back to Vault 33 in time to witness the Vault 32 Raiders begin their attack. During the attack, Norm hides from the raiders in a variety of places, keeping himself safe from the violence.
The next day, Norm attends the assembly headed by the Vault 33 Council to discuss how to proceed following the attack. After the council shoots down Lucy's idea for a rescue operation to retrieve the kidnapped Overseer Hank, Norm tells Lucy that the council has no interest in saving him, as without him they can be in charge. Later that day, he and Chet helped Lucy leave the vault to rescue their father. He is instructed to watch the elevator as Lucy and Chet argue, alerting her when he notices that someone has called the elevator. The two share a teary goodbye before Lucy opens the vault door and departs into the wasteland.
S1E3 - The Head
Norm is brought before the Vault 33 Council alongside Chet to face punishment for opening the vault door. While there, he is chastised by the council for putting both his sister and the vault at risk. Confronted with a re-assignment, he is told that his performance review for every job he has ever been assigned to has been that he "lacks enthusiasm", a statement he believes sounds accurate. Norm expresses happiness at hearing that they punish those who break the rules, asking if it only applies to Vault Dwellers or if it extends to the raiders as well. This inspires Betty to assign Norm to a new position, delivering food to the captured raiders.
Norm delivers plates of food to the captured raiders, helping Marianne the Vault Scholar distribute the food. He looks inside the observation window as several raiders heckle him, and one throws a plate of food at the window. Later, Norm attends a meeting held by the council about what to do regarding the imprisoned raiders. After the idea of reeducation and integration into vault society is proposed, and several vault dwellers offer to teach the raiders about topics such as literature, ethics, and calculus, Norm scoffs, which garners a reaction from Reg, who asks him if there is something he'd like to add. He states that he isn't sure that it is their job to help the raiders, stating that they are murderers. When Reg argues that they cannot release them due to their knowledge of the Vault 33 security, Norm suggests that they should instead kill the prisoners, which garners a shocked response from the crowd. When Betty stands up, telling the crowd that he was just expressing his anger and was not seriously considering it, Norm agrees, stating that he was not intending to question the leadership of the "overseer", at which point both Reg and Woody thank him, thinking he was referring to them. After the meeting, he is approached by Stephanie Harper, who states that he was right about the raiders, and that if his father were there, he'd do the right thing.
S1E4 - The Ghouls
Norm is seen looking at a picture of his father on his Pip-Boy, before being approached by Betty who offers him a slice of pie. She recounts a story of the first time he tried Rhubarb Pie and Ice Cream, stating that he "sure did like pie that day". Norm correctly deduces that Betty is there to talk to him about his statements at the assembly. She tells him that he's not the only one who feels the absence of his father, stressing that everyone in the vault is hurting, and his position as the last MacLean left. She tells him that that position means his voice carries more weight with the dwellers than he realizes. He confides in her, telling her that when the raid began, he hid instead of fighting, at which point she asks if that makes him angry. When questioned why it matters, she responds by telling him, "Regular boys can get angry and they'll just pee on the wall. When clever boys like you are angry... Hmm. You're lucky not to have seen where that can lead." She then asks him to promise to be careful before departing.
Norm once again brings the raiders food, this time in the form of Jell-O Cake. He greets the guard, Veronika who expresses surprise, stating, "Wait, they're getting Jell-O Cake?", questioning what Overseer Hank MacLean would say about it. When Norm tells her that he would be handing out the cake himself, she agrees, saying that Hank was a saint. After they're done handing out the cake, Norm offers Veronika the leftover cake, telling her that nobody would know. She excitedly wheels the cart away, telling Norm her intent to put it in her fridge. Norm's attention is attracted by Dervin, one of the raiders who is looking through the slot in the door. Dervin asks Norm, "What are you looking at?" to which Norm responds, "A murderer in a cage, paying the price for what you did to us, for what you did to the innocent people in Vault 32." Dervin responds, "I don't know what the people in Vault 32 were up to. But it was anything but innocent."
Norm begins using a terminal, investigating the history of interactions between the three vaults. Attempting to access the Vault 32 records, his access is denied, causing him to want to investigate the vault for himself. He proceeds to Chet's apartment, finding him there, wearing several of Bert's clothes, with Stephanie Harper giving birth on his couch. Norm asks Chet if he wants to get out of the house, which he agrees to. The pair head to the destroyed Vault 32 door and begin clearing debris, with Norm quipping that Chet wants to hang out with him because he is still in love with Lucy, and being around Norm reminds him of her. Upon entering Vault 32, the pair activate the flashlights on their pip-boys and come across the long-dead field of Wheat within the vault's farm, causing Norm to point out that whatever happened to Vault 32 occurred long before the Raiders arrived. The pair proceeds deeper into the vault, discovering several corpses, including an individual impaled with part of a Foosball table. Norm investigates the corpse's Pip-Boy, discovering that they had died two years prior, confirming his theory about how long ago Vault 32 fell. The pair continues, finding more and more bodies, with individuals having killed themselves and each other. Chet questions how they died, if they were already dead when the raiders arrived, pointing out that they seem to have killed each other, something he can't make sense of. Graffiti on the wall found by the pair reads "We know the truth".
The pair arrive at the Overseer's office, discovering several hanging corpses outside. At the overseer's desk, they discover the body of Overseer Ian Jackson, tied to his chair and strung up with cables so as to give a thumbs up. Chet declares that it is safe to say the residents of Vault 32 "went bananas", with Norm recognizing that that doesn't explain how the raiders got in. As Norm accesses Jackson's terminal, Chet discovers more graffiti, this time declaring "Death To Management". He states that, with the state the dwellers must have been in, if anyone had survived the massacre, they must have simply invited the raiders in. Accessing the door logs, Norm discovers that the raiders entered Vault 32 by opening it from the outside, using the Pip-Boy of his deceased mother, Rose.
S1E5 - The Past
Horrified by their discoveries and the implications of the raiders having used Rose MacLean's Pip-Boy to gain access to Vault 32, Norm and Chet proceed to Vault 32's inner door connecting it to 31, with Chet asking, "Can't we just go home?" At the door, the pair discovers a large collection of bodies, individuals who had died attempting to break through the door into 31, including an individual with a blowtorch, and another with a sledgehammer. Writing on the wall declares, "We know what's in there". Norm questions why they died trying to enter Vault 31, to which Chet proclaims that they are leaving.
The pair rush from Vault 32 back to 33, with Norm beginning to tell Chet "if anyone asks where we were" before Chet cuts him off, responding "I'll have a heart attack". Back in Vault 33, the pair is approached by Betty, who asks where they have been. They respond that they have been planting tatos, which satisfies her and prompts her to tell them to run along. At which point the pair continues on their way.
As the rest of Vault 33 votes, Norm returns to his terminal to look through intervault records. There, he discovers a trend of individuals arriving from Vault 31 during trades to be elected overseer. A trend that includes his father, Hank, and now, once again, Betty. After her victory, he visits her during the celebration, staring her down while congratulating her and taking a slice of Jell-O Cake.
Later, he sits with Chet in his apartment as he entertains Stephanie's new baby. While Stephanie is in the shower, Norm questions Chet, asking him if he thinks it strange that both Vault 33 and 32 almost exclusively elect overseers from Vault 31. Chet responds "Honestly? no", stating that Vault 31 has more resources, better education, and mentions the old phrase, "When things look glum, vote 31", which Norm recites mockingly. Norm argues that it is a powerful slogan. Norm continues to pressure him, asking him if he truly thinks that "200 years of coincidence comes down to a slogan?" Chet argues that you might as well ask why everyone prefers Jell-O cake to apple pie, the answer being "they just do". He then points out that Stephanie is from Vault 31. As she exits the shower, Norm prepares to leave, before asking her how Vault 31 is different from 33, as his father never told him much. She responds vaguely, stating that the mashed potatoes were a little better, which Norm says is what his father used to tell him. Norm once again delivers food to the imprisoned raiders, and listens to the intercom as Betty announces she will be holding a meeting about the fate of Vault 32.
The next day, Norm joins the assembled vault dwellers at Vault 32's door, where they are informed by Overseer Betty that they will visit the vault as a community. Betty also announced to the assembled community that her and the Vault 31 overseer had agreed to enact a resettlement campaign, with half of Vault 33's population moving to Vault 32 to recolonize. As the group enter Vault 32, they find the place spotless, completely clean and devoid the carnage previously discovered by Chet and Norm. As Norm progresses through the vault, he is confused by the difference, finding no evidence of what he saw before. Upon arriving at the overseer's office, he finds it similarly clean, but with the terminal he had used before smashed. Startled by the arrival of Betty, Norm is asked if he has found anything interesting, to which he responds by telling her she did a good job cleaning up. She remarks that the raiders destroyed much, but not their spirits. Norm then asks Betty what happened to his mother's pip-boy when she died, to which Betty responds that it was buried with her, and she knows because she's the one who buried her alongside his father. She leaves as Norm looks back at the now smashed terminal which revealed to him the fact that the raiders entered the vault using his mother's pip-boy.
S1E7 - The Radio
Upon returning the Vault 33, Norm returned to his routine of bringing the imprisoned raiders their meals. One day while delivering the meals, he notices one of the raiders being wheeled away on a stretcher, before he arrives at the holding cell and finds them all dead. He questions Betty and Woody who are there about what happened, learning that they were killed with rat poison in their food. He watches as the guard, Veronika, is taken away by Vault security as a suspect. Betty laments the further death, wishing it would end. She then implies to Norm that this occurred because of his statement during the assembly, saying they should kill the raiders, stating "What did I tell you, Norman? Words have meaning." When Betty initiates the vault resettlement, Norm learns that he is slated to remain in Vault 33.
Norm travels to Chet's apartment where he is greeted by Stephanie, who remarks how terrible the raiders death was. She tells him that they'll miss him before leaving him and Chet to talk. Norm questions Chet, asking if he is indeed leaving to go to Vault 32, which Chet confirms, telling him that him, Stephanie, and the baby, have been given a three person starter home unit. Norm pushes him, asking if he is going to just forget about everything they saw within Vault 32, to which Chet responds that he thinks it is a good time for a fresh start. Norm proceeds to call Chet a coward, to which Chet replies "We all are, Norm. That's why we live in a vault." He then proceeds to close the door in Norm's face.
Norm then travels to the Vault 32 door to say goodbye to those leaving to colonize Vault 32, including Chet. When Betty declares that Stephanie will be the new interim overseer, once again ensuring that someone from Vault 31 will hold the position of Overseer, Chet looks back, making eye contact with a Norm before turning away. As the move begins, Chet and Norm share one last look, before Chet wordlessly turns to enter Vault 32. After he leaves, Norm turns and quickly departs, heading to the Vault 33 Overseer Office. Once there he hacks Betty's terminal, utilizing the inter-vault messaging system to make contact with the Overseer of Vault 31. Impersonating Betty, he tells the Overseer of 31 that he has been compromised and must return to vault 31 immediately. The Overseer orders "Betty" to return to Vault 31 immediately. Norm travels to the Vault 31 door, with it opening from the other side, allowing him inside. Once inside, he walks down empty hallways, following the sound of music before finding something moving.
S1E8 - The Beginning
As Norm approaches the source of the sound, he discovers a small Robobrain talking to itself, trapped by a fallen mop. As Norm frees it the robobrain, who in actuality is Senior Junior Vice President of the Vault-Tec Corporation, Bud Askins. Bud realizes that Norm is not Betty, scanning him and identifying him as only containing 50% of Hank MacLean's DNA. Horrified at the realization, Bud initiates "Protocol 53", trying and failing to inject Norm with a syringe. When asked who he is, Bud tells Norm that he won't answer until he lets him inject him. Bud tells Norm not to move as "the secret must be guarded", which Norm ignores and proceeds down the hallway. Bud continues to protest, giving Norm a list of things not to do in the room he is entering. Bud reveals himself to be the Overseer of Vault 31, demanding that his orders be followed, and wondering aloud why none of his demands are working. When Norm asks where the rest of the vault is, Bud reveals that this dark room is all there is. Norm asks if this is where his father is from, to which Bud replies that he will never find out, only to immediately state "Oh. He's gonna find out." as Norm turns on the lights. The room illuminates to reveal rows upon rows of Cryo Pods. Buds explains the concept of Bud's Buds to Norm, revealing that each Vault 31 dweller was actually a pre-war employee of the Vault-Tec Corporation, frozen so as to be released into the populations of Vaults 32 and 33, to govern and breed with the populace to develop a new class of "super managers". Norm confronts Bud, asking if Vaults 32 and 33 are simply people to be controlled, which Bud denies, saying that sounds "downright morally questionable", instead stating that the people of the vaults are 31's "breeding pool". He states that the resulting super managers will be perfect to inherit the earth after Vault-Tec has "wiped the surface clean", a statement that horrifies Norm. As Bud retreats into a port in the wall, Norm begins looking through the vault's logs, seeing the names of all the Buds, including his father. As Norm attempts to leave, Bud closes the door, trapping him inside, stating that he can't be allowed to go home with what he has learned, until it is time to reclaim the surface. Bud recommends going to sleep inside Hank's cryo pod, stating that unless he does that he will starve to death. Norm walks back to the terminal, looking at all of the open cryo pods.
S2E1 - The Innovator
Bud Askins discovers that Norm disabled inter-vault communications and searches for him. Bud finds Norm surrounded by consumed Vault-Tec Snack & Grooming Kits and insults him. Bud observes Norm collecting water from a leaking pipe and notes that he has exhausted the snack supply. He urges Norm to enter his father's cryo pod and wait for Reclamation Day.[2] Bud informs him that Betty is covering for his absence and questions whether hunger will make him "more reasonable."[3] He then shuts off the lights, declaring the vaults the product of centuries of planning and dismissing Norm as "some malcontent who wandered down the wrong corridor" questioning what hope he has against "the greatest achievement in the history of vertical integration". [4]
In Vault 31, Norm stares at his father's pod as Bud continues to tempt him by saying he won't be hungry or thirsty if he gets inside. Norm questions Bud about his father, with Bud responding that Hank was ambitious, with Bud's Buds being a highly coveted position. As he remarks that they had applicants from as far away as Fresno, Norm notices a Centipede crawling along one of the Vault railings. Bud tells him not to consider eating it, as it is toxic and would result in his dying slowly and painfully. Bud once again tells Norm to let him inject him with his syringe, and when Norm asks what it does, he clarifies that it would kill him, quickly and painlessly. Bud tells him that after his body decomposes, the air filtration system would cycle the dust back to Vault 33 to fertilize the Corn. Bud tells Norm that he has two rational choices, to get in the cryo-pod or die, to which Norm responds that while yes, he has two rational choices, he has plenty of irrational ones. He approaches Bud, breaking the syringe off his Rollerbrain body, and uses the vault's control pad to begin thawing all of the Bud's Buds.
S2E2 - The Golden Rule
The Past
Vault 33
In Vault 33, a younger Hank MacLean washes his hands in the bathroom. Lucy asks Hank to come read to them[5]. He leaves to read The Wind in the Willows to his children, Lucy and Norm, as his Pip-Boy notifies him; "Detonation Successful."
The Present
Vault 31
In Vault 31, Norm MacLean watches as the cryo-pods open, releasing Bud's Buds. The buds exit their pods and begin putting on Vault suits. As one bud, Clark, vomits, another Bud asks about the location of Bud Askins. Clark asks why the buds have all been woken up simultaneously, with Norm answering that there has been a change of plans. Claudia asks if her vision should have returned by now, with Clark responding that she needs to relax, as obviously there has been a change of plans. Suddenly, Chloe Glass, who was in the process of exiting her elevated pod, slips and falls down an incline, hitting her head. When Claudia asks if she is okay, she pops up, telling everyone she is alright.
Norm proceeds to inform the buds that it has been 200 years since they were frozen, and that it is Reclamation Day. He then informs them of the death of Bud Askins, who is shown to have been damaged and placed upside down in a bucket. When Norm tells the group that they must find a way to escape Vault 31, they realize they are trapped and begin panicking.
In Vault 31, Norm rallies the worried Buds. He tells them that he is the product of 200 years of engineering and a member of a race of super managers. He tells them that they have all been selected to be his staff, and their entrapment within the vault is the last test left for them by Bud Askins. He tells them that those who help problem-solve as a team to get them out of the vault will receive merit dots, which are, in actuality, first aid bandages. Reinvigorated, the Buds begin searching for a way out of the Vault as a team. Several of the Buds form a human tower to reach a ventilation access hatch. As Chloe Glass opens the hatch, it swings free, hitting her in the face and giving her a bloody nose. With an exit in sight, Clark leans down to Norm, telling him to lead the way. As Norm climbs, he is hoisted through the hatch to the ladder and begins his ascent to the surface for the first time.
Exiting through an exhaust vent on the surface, Norm steps out onto the sand, followed by a trail of the Buds. Cresting a nearby sand dune, the group overlooks Santa Monica, with Clark remarking with dismay that the area's mall is gone. Norm turns to look at the sun for the first time, stating that it is beautiful.
S2E4 - The Demon in the Snow
Los Angeles
In Los Angeles, the Bud's Buds eat uncooked boxes of BlamCo Mac & Cheese that they scavenged from a Corvega truck. While eating, Pete tells Clark that he actually enjoys the pasta uncooked, with Clark agreeing that the "mouth feel" is excellent. Norm MacLean tells the group to conserve as much as they can, as they don't know when they will next find food. He approaches Claudia as she stares at a nearby bridge, with him telling her it must be a lot to take in. She tells him that she drove across the bridge a week prior, from her perspective. When he asks where she was going, she responds that it was for her job interview at the Vault-Tec Corporation, revealing she had only been an employee for a week before being frozen in Vault 31. Norm observes that it must have been a crazy week for her.
The pair are approached by Ronnie McCurtry, who asks Norm if, now that they have found food, it is time for "phase two". He introduces himself to Norm, and is told that Norm will be the one deciding the next steps from here. Ronnie agrees with him, telling him that he knows he is in charge, stating he was just wanting to introduce himself as he was the personal assistant of Bud Askins. When questioned why that matters, Ronnie tells Norm that he was the one who took the lunch orders while Bud was meeting with Vault investors regarding "Future Enterprise Ventures", and as such was aware of the full plan for Vaults 32 and 33. When Norm questions him about what he knows, he says that he knows of the importance of "phase two" to the experiment. He reiterates that it is time to get going, with Norm telling him to lead the way.
S2E5 - The Wrangler
Norm MacLean and the rest of the Vault 31ers arrive at Vault-Tec's California Headquarters, entering into the deserted main lobby. Norm immediately notices a bloody patch on the wall next to the boarded-up elevator shaft and goes to inspect it, while Ronnie points out the skeleton of the pre-War receptionist Janice still at her desk, causing Pete to comment that she was always "a kiss-ass", with Clark agreeing. It is then that something from within the boarded-up elevator shaft bashes against the barrier, prompting Clark to begin attempting to fashion some form of weapon out of a Desk Fan. Before the group can flee, they are approached at gunpoint by Ma June and Barv, with Ma June asserting that the headquarters is her "squat", before Barv corrects her that it's their squat. Ma June expresses surprise at meeting more Vault Dwellers, before Norm inquires what she means by "more".
A short time later, the Vault 31ers are sitting with Barv on a couch in front of the boarded-up elevator shaft. Claudia asks Barv the source of the bashing inside the shaft, to which Barv (while eating her beans) replies that it's a Roach Farm, and that while they're not big enough for selling yet, they soon will be. Meanwhile, Norm and Ma June discuss the events that transpired in Filly, with Ma June explaining that she had Lucy help a "fella from the Enclave" cross The Shithole in order to reach "some folks" from the New California Republic that hadn't died in the destruction of Shady Sands, which she remarked was unlikely to have succeeded due to the area being Great Khan territory. When Norm expresses that he doesn't know what that means, Ma June clarifies and asserts that Lucy is dead. Norm replies that Ma June doesn't know Lucy, to which Ma June retorts that she knows the wasteland and how it treats the soft-hearted, reasserting that Norm should do what she told Lucy to and go home, before allowing the group to help themselves to any supplies they may need for their journey home. Barv comments that it is unlike Ma June to be a Samaritan, with Ma June responding that she's trying to be a better person.
The Vault 31ers and Norm advance further inside the Vault-Tec Headquarters building, passing by a cluster of destroyed office cubicles until they reach the building's Communications Room. When Norm asks who Ronnie intends to contact, he simply replies "The Investors," before ordering Clark and Pete to aid him in reactivating the devices inside. Through an interior window, Norm sees Claudia crying and approaches her to investigate. Asking if she's okay, Claudia apologizes and explains that she just now truly realized that even if her parents somehow survived the War, they'd be dead by now, adding the same for her friends and pet cat as well. Attempting to comfort her, Norm asks if her cat had a name, to which Claudia replies that her cat was named "Puppy". She remarks that the name was supposed to be funny, though Norm comments that it's probably not funny in the current circumstances, causing Claudia to laugh slightly and agree. Norm points out that Claudia does not seem like the other Bud's Buds, and doesn't seem to be the kind of person to sign up for the program, to which Claudia comments that she just started working at Vault-Tec a week prior, and has no idea what "Future Enterprise Ventures" means, just that everything the other Bud's Buds talked about sounded "pretty nutty" to her. Norm asks if she remembers anything being said about doing things to the inhabitants of Vaults 32 and 33, Claudia says she doesn't, but that an executive above Bud Askins named Barbara Howard was responsible for all Vault proposals, leading Norm to ask if she knows which room Barbara's office is in.
Reaching Barbara's office and sitting down at the terminal inside, Norm proceeds to hack into the terminal, with Claudia pointing out that Norm does not seem like he's actually Bud's successor, not being "absolutely nuts" enough like the other Bud's Buds. She states that the others are heavily invested in Askins' plan, and if they discovered Norm sabotaged that, they'd become unpredictable. Claudia pauses for a moment and apologizes for her sudden dramatics, explaining it by having just seen the world end. Feeling like she needs a drink, Claudia asks Norm if he'd like one, to which he admits he's never had one before, leading Claudia to exit the room in order to find drinks for them both. As she leaves, Ronnie steps out of the shadows, having been eavesdropping on their conversation and realizing that Norm ruined Bud's plan. Now with access to the terminal, Norm searches the database for any mention of "Future Enterprise Ventures", and although no results are found, the computer suggests the related search term of "F.E.V." instead, which Norm accesses and begins reading. Before much of the page can be read, however, Ronnie unplugs the terminal, revealing that he knows Norm isn't Bud's successor and attacking him with the terminal's power cable. Norm attempts to defend himself with a Floor Lamp, but Ronnie is able to dodge his attack, getting behind Norm and strangling him with the cable, forcing him to the ground.
S2E7 - The Handoff
Norm MacLean awakens on the floor of the Vault-Tec Headquarters. Nearby, Ronnie McCurtry attempts to convince his fellow Bud's Buds that they need to kill Norm, as he's fairly sure the Vault-Tec Handbook says that impersonating management is punishable by death, which wins over Pete and Clark.
Pete notices that Norm has awoken, causing the buds to gather around him. Ronnie tells Clark to knock Norm back out, which he does while saying it can't be good for his brain.
As Norm MacLean awakens on the floor of the Vault-Tec Headquarters, being untied by Claudia. She tells him that they need to escape, with him responding that he must do something first. The pair proceeds to the radio room, with Norm activating the radio and attempting to communicate with Lucy. His broadcast is picked up in the Vault-Tec X-Branch Global Comms room, but nobody hears.
Norm addresses his father, questioning what is going to happen to Vault 33 and why he never told them the truth. He is cut off by the arrival of the rest of Bud's Buds.
S2E8 - The Strip
At the Vault-Tec Headquarters, Norm MacLean is dragged through a room by the members of Bud's Buds as he and Claudia protest. Ronnie McCurtry assures them that Norm will get a fair trial, as they are still in America. As Claudia attempts to save Norm, Ronnie tells her that she is not one of them, as she only got the job the week before the war. He throws her off of Norm, slamming her into a nearby elevator button.
As the sound of the elevator approaches, the buds stop in suspense, recalling the roach farm mentioned by Barv. As the doors open, Chloe Glass steps forward, peering into the elevator shaft. Not seeing anything, she begins to say that it seems like the roaches aren't actually that big, before a radroach pounces on her, knocking her to the ground and tearing out her throat, killing her. The rest of the buds begin fleeing as more roaches pour out of the elevator shaft. Norm protects himself with a chair, hiding under it as the roaches swarm. As one bud pounced on by a roach, Norm saves him with a chair, before the pair run for a nearby break room where the buds are taking shelter. Before Norm can enter, Ronnie holds him back, saying that he isn't allowed in.
Ronnie shoves Norm to the ground, but is unable to close the door before the radroaches arrive. Flying past Norm, the roaches force the closing door open and begin swarming inside the room, attacking the buds taking shelter there. The door closes as the buds are massacred.
After the massacre, Norm crawls across the floor before entering the break room, in which the buds had been trapped. He finds them all dead, save Claudia, who had managed to kill the radroach that had attacked her with a screwdriver. He picks her up, promising to take her home and drags her via gurney outside the building.
