On July 16, 2024, Board of Education approved changes to the personal electronic devices policy. All changes can be found in the Student Code of Conduct & Parent Handbook as well as in Policy 7:190 Student Behavior.

Special Olympics Illinois and the Macon Piatt Special Education District hosted an event for special education students, encouraging socialization, healthy habits and physical activity.
Grandparents Day at Baum
We loved welcoming hundreds of grandparents to our school on Grandparents Day in September. It really takes a village to educate our students!
Students Celebrate Black History Month with Artwork
Baum students worked hard throughout January to kick off Black History Month displaying all of their wonderful artwork. Their works are inspired by African American artists and inventors.

Baum Elementary is one of seven neighborhood elementary schools in Decatur Public Schools, serving Kindergarten through 6th grade students on Decatur's east and northeast sides.
