Arthur Copies of Analog

So I just got my contributor's copies of the July/August issue of Analog in the mail. "Milk Run", which mrissa and I co-wrote, can be found on page 80. Yay!

There is also a giant cavalry bird* on the cover. Isn't that a thing!

I suppose I'm lucky, really. The cover is completely lacking in pink dinosaurs or astronaut protuberances.

*: Not a Chocobo, obv. That series is called Final Fantasy, and this is Analog. Full of totally serious hard science fiction!

Contributor's Copies from the Future

So I have a copy of Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine #56 on my desk, delivered to me via international post from Australia. It contains "...And We But Players", written by yours truly, as well as a variety of other works by authors who I don't know, but whose names look quite spiffy next to mine on the cover. Two of them are even before mine! Clearly I ought to have changed my surname to Aaaustin when I had a chance...

Sadly, I cannot direct you to a link at which ASIM #56 can be purchased in electronic form, because it's the August issue, and thus hasn't been released. This is a pretty big change from the magazine pub dates I'm used to, which are all offset to indicate when they ought to be pulled from the shelves and stripped, but hey. I'm down with pub dates actually bearing some resemblance to when books and magazines are actually available for purchase.

Anyway, on the off chance anyone wants to glance at my story or look at the sculpted moon birthday cake (complete with robots, birthday candles, and rocket ship - I would link to it, but it doesn't seem to be on the web either) on the cover, I will be bringing my copy to Farthing Party, after which it will take up residence on my brag shelf, next to my thesis, the issue of Dungeon with my D&D adventure in it, and the hard-copy versions of the white papers I wrote at MIT.

Sharper Than The Edge of Any Knife

So my first published short story - Volition - is up on Daily Science Fiction's website today! It got sent out to subscribers a week ago, but now I can finally post about it with an actual link, so I'm not just talking to folks who know me and have subscribed to Daily SF's mailing list.

Anyway, the story has time-traveling Nazis; Go; the Law of Conservation of Atrocity; and me making up German military acronyms. It is a very Alecish story, and I have already been informed by four people not related to me that it is good. So yah. Perhaps you might want to consider reading it? I'm just saying.

(Also, should you be Facebook-enabled and feel the urge to comment in a way that will reach Jonathan and Michele [Daily SF's editors], the magazine has a Facebook Page on which readers can comment on or 'like' stories. Do with this information what you will.)
