Biography
Frederick competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics. He was a crew member of the British boat Sorais, which won the bronze medal in the 8 metre class.
Frederick was born in 1866. He was the son of John William Hughes and Jessie Ann Atkinson Gardner. Frederick's birth was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1866 in the Isle Of Wight district.[1] Fredrick, son of John William Hughes & Ann Atkinson, was baptised on 25 February 1866 in West Cowes, Hampshire, England.[2][3][4][5]
In the 1881 census Frederick (age 15), Scholar, was a unmarried boarder in Winchester St Thomas, Hampshire, England.[6]
Frederick's marriage to Gertrude Mabel Jane Evans was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1906 in the Newport (Monmouthshire) district.[7] They had 3 children including twins:

In the 1911 census Frederick (age 45), Capt Res of Officers, was the married brother-in-law of John David Douglas Evans in Brecon, Breconshire, Wales.[8]
