I really appreciate your kind words & support, not to mention all the great & lovely things you share on your journal. Hope today is beautiful in as many ways as possible.
I've been popping in a couple times a week to look around, but haven't had much time for fun stuff lately-except those times when my brain just shuts down from the overload of new information. Then I cuddle up with my nook & some Erom. :)
Hope everyone else who hasn't been posting much is doing well too! The rest of you, I'm reading, I swear, but don't always have the time/brain power to comment.
My Christmas story found a home! Not sure of the details yet, but as soon as I know I'll be spamming the heck out of you all! *lol* Guess I don't have to spend part of today reformatting it to meet another e-publisher's submission guidelines.
I keep hearing "three days, man, three days!" in my head. *lol* That's how long it took for this press to come back and offer me a contract. I think I'll be doing a lot of laughing today.
Happy Monday! *bounces out to work on another story*
Sometimes I get the feeling I'm writing just for myself. But, if that's all that ever comes of it at least I'm entertaining myself & keeping out of trouble.
Today's count: 1 romance & 1 YA; one batch of brownies (aromatherapy :))
Have you ever left the country you live in and where? I've been to Canada - BC & Ontario - & I lovelovelove it up there. I need to get a killer job so I can go back!
What countries would you visit if time and money were not problems? First I'd head to France and the UK. After that, assuming time & money don't become problems, I'd systematically visit a large chunk of the world. Japan, Brazil & Australia are high on the list of countries I want to see.
Out of all the foreign food you've tried, which is your favorite and why? Not sure if they count in this millennia, but croissants. All that buttah, to die for . . .
Can you name all 7 continents? Anyone who can't needs to meet my good friend Ms Google. :)
Which continent are you least likely to ever want to see and why? Africa. It's not that I don't want to see all the amazing animals in their natural habitats, but I don't think my heart could stand to see how few of them are left or what the people there have to live through on a daily basis.
Since I've already written new words, edited old words, and posted on one of my blogs today (and my apartment smells like pizza!) I'm off to nom and veg a while.
It's been a long time since I've read a thriller, or a book with (basically) only three straight white male characters, but I really enjoyed this one. It's no surprise that Lynch has been a National Book Award finalist or that he's won a bunch of awards (also no surprise he has an MFA, but I won't go there now). Kill Switch is a fast read but doesn't sacrifice character development in service of plot. It's also very short, so there's no "soggy middle" to slog through (which is my problem with some thrillers I've read in the past).
Don't know if I'd read another of his books, especially if they're as narrowly focused as Kill Switch. I like to spend a little more time in the fictional worlds I visit. And then there's the matter of the narrow focus on straight white male characters. I went to the library for my morning constitutional & looked at two of Lynch's other books & they both seemed to be populated with the same type of people. I liked his style enough to do a little research & see whether that was just coincidence or a full-fledged trend. I hope to find at least one more of his that I'd like to read.
Rec? Yep! Picked nits above aside, it was a good one.
Now I'm off to participate in the Unemployment Department's little sing-a-long & then write & edit some fiction!

What's your favorite fruit? Bananas! They're sweet & great on peanut butter sandwiches & won't desert you just because it's a certain season. In addition to being the most loyal fruit, they're also happy to demonstrate condom use in health class.
What's your favorite vegetable? The tom-ah-toe. Really a fruit, they're best known (& loved) for their veggie-like qualities. My hands-down favorite way to eat a tomato is thick slices of a homegrown heirloom variety on homemade bread with mayo & lettuce from the garden. Bliss.
What's your favorite protein? Bacon. If not for the calories & fat & nasty chemicals, bacon would be the perfect food: delicious, able to enhance any dish and help with presentation. All at the same time.
What's your favorite dish to cook? I'm not really a fan of cooking anymore. I spent manymany years making everylittlething from scratch & now I rarely go to the trouble. So I'll say Parker House Rolls. I make these twice a year & they're wonderful.
What's your favorite dish that someone else makes for you? Wow, this is hard. Teh definition of my "favorite dish" anymore is "one that someone else cooks for me." But, I'll say the Farner's Strata at my favorite little coffeehouse. They serve it all day on the weekends, it includes bacon, & the servers who work there are hot.
