Vidders! If you wish to make a brand new vid to premiere at this year's Vividcon Club Vivid, here is where you sign up!

1. attending vidders first choice vid (or VJ choice if no preference)


2. a small selection of the VJ's preferred not-yet-chosen vids, as required for balance of music or fandoms. These are selected from any as yet unchosen premieres.


3. supporting members first choice vid


4. everyone else's 1st choice submissions


5. attending members 2nd choice followed by supporting, then non-member etc until all vids are chosen or there's no time left.

1. 3 to 5 minute vids are ideal length for club vivid vids but honestly any length is possible and it depends from song to song


2. People like dancing to songs they know - if you are choosing between songs, go for the popular one.


3. Long beatless breaks in songs and slow openings can be accommodated but they make placing the vid in the mix harder as they can break up the flow.


4. Slow dance has never really gone down well at club vivid, alas. Nor has country but I think there's exceptions that could break that rule. If it's fun, it can be a blast at club vivid.


5. Please please please find a good quality source for your audio as it will really help people enjoy the vid more. If you need help with this, ask.


6. Feel free to add credits after the music but note that they may be edited out when mixed for the live show. They will be intact on the dvd. MTV-style credits are of course totally fine too.


7. Any footage is good footage for club vivid. Seriously, people have danced to Bambi in previous years and loved it.

It's that time of year again. Well, actually it's later than usual but anyway. Song signups for Club Vivid 2017 will start Friday 3rd March at around 10:00pm Eastern!

Like all prior years, if you plan to make a brand new vid for Club Vivid this year you must first gain approval for your vidsong. We accept >80% of all requests but sometimes we feel that a particular track may not be ideal as a dance floor vid.

AND like last year I've put together a playlist of songs that are automatically approved. You are not required to choose from this list but those of you who are on the lookout for new vidsongs can look for something here and know that I'll definitely say yes to it!

There's over 11 hours of songs there so there should be something for everyone. Including things that are bad. The playlist is randomized so feel free to jump around looking for songs.

A few things to note:

1. I don't care if there is a vid to a song already. Even if it's yours. I want new vids to these songs.


2. I've specified remixes in some cases. Sometimes it's important, sometimes it's not - if you want to vid an alternative version of a song just ask.


3. The youtube version of the list is auto-generated so may not be entirely accurate. YMMV.

Feedback on this new approach is appreciated so let me know if this playlist is something we should do every year! If the list is way too much and you are looking for something particular - just ask and I can point out certain tracks that might fit an idea you have.

Greetings, VividCon friends! I hope you are all getting excited for VividCon at the end of this coming week! I know we sure are here at VividCon headquarters! I have a late-breaking minor schedule adjustment to announce re: Friday night's Club Vivid festivities, so please listen up:

The cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will begin at 7:00 p.m. this year (not 6:30 as in the past) and the bar will run until 10:00 p.m. (instead of the previous 10:30 time). We arrived at this decision too late to change the time printed on the programs and schedule cards, so we'll announce the correct time several times at the con to remind everybody.

The hors d'oeuvres will also be quite a bit less plentiful than you may be used to, so we recommend that you grab a real meal during the dinner break rather than rely entirely on Club Vivid food for your dinner. It will not stretch that far this year, sorry! Eating dinner is especially important if you plan to consume alcohol at the Club Vivid bar with your pre-purchased Club Vivid bar wristband. Please don't drink on an empty stomach! /yer mom

Club Vivid vids and dancing will begin as usual at 7:30 p.m., so be sure to practice your Joxer Dance between now and then!

Hi all! The option for buying a Club Vivid bar wristband was accidentally left off the payment page (linked in the reg confirmation email) for those who registered earlier today and yesterday. If you have already paid for your registration et al. but would like a wristband, too, you can go back to that page and buy a wristband by itself. (If you HAVEN'T paid yet and would like a bar wristband, you can just add your wristband when you get to that point!)

if you wish to make a brand new vid to premiere at this year's Vividcon Club Vivid, here is where you sign up

Club Vivid vids are to be submitted by:

    Friday, April 25th!!

You have two months but that is going to fly by so start now!

All club vivid premieres must have their song approved before being submitted. Approval is usually an easy "yes" - to sign up for a song I need to know the following:

1) Song, Artist and version if appropriate
2) A link to the song where I can hear it (such as youtube or spotify) if such a link exists
3) Vidder(s) name
4) (optional) Intended fandom(s)

Your song of choice has to be approved - either for appropriateness for the dance party or to see if anyone else wanted the same song. Song choice is on a first come first served basis. You can comment or you can email me (ian at absolutedestiny dot org). All comments are screened until the song choice is confirmed. I then delete the comments once they are added to the list, just so I can keep track of which ones I've approved. Please make one post per song claim and be patient for a reply. Sometimes LJ eats the comment notification email so if it's been a couple days either email me or comment again.

Only new vids will be accepted for premieres, of course, but closer to the event we will have a suggestions page for people to recommend older vids for us to show at the party.

Those of you who are new to vvc and new to club vivid, the idea is pretty simple - people make vids to danceable music and we dance to these vids and a bunch of fan favourites at the con and it's awesome fun. It's a VJ'd show and we set aside around 2 and 1/3 hours of vid time to brand new vids by vidders. Anyone can submit vids to be shown and they will be selected according to the following priorities:

1) attending vidders first choice vid (or VJ choice if no preference)

2) a small selection of the VJ's preferred not-yet-chosen vids, as required for balance of music or fandoms. These are selected from any as yet unchosen premieres.

3) supporting members first choice vid

4) everyone else's 1st choice submissions

5) attending members 2nd choice followed by supporting, then non-member etc until all vids are chosen or there's no time left.

Vidders whose vids arent picked for the live show will be asked if they want to submit to a different premieres show or just be included on the dvd. This is of course only a problem if we get a ton of vids (this has happened before but it's not the norm)

Current Signups:

Hi! We have enough DVD sets being produced this year that we are able to re-open supporting member registration (through 8/10 or until DVD supplies run out) *and* attending member extra DVD sales (until DVD supplies run out)! Woo!

Attending member registration is again live from the registration page, also. (We accidentally disconnected it when turning off supporting member registration two weeks ago. Sorry for the confusion!) Attending member registration will stay live right up until the con, or until we a) hit the membership cap, or b) run out of DVD supplies!

While you're at it, there's still time for attending members to pick up a Club Vivid bar wristband or a Saturday lunch ticket, too! Just visit our payment page for either or both of those items. :D
