These cookies (called Peanut Blossoms) are the food equivalent of Joe Flanigan - utterly gorgeous and too delicious to be believed. If anyone's interested in the recipe, let me know.

ETA

1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup shortening
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup peanut butter
chocolate kisses

PREHEAT OVEN: 375 degrees

Combine everything but chocolate kisses. Make into balls and roll in some sugar. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Press kisses into middle of cookie while still hot. ENJOY!

Now I didn't say these were healthy but gah, they're sooooo good.

This is a very easy recipe - if it weren't, I wouldn't get near it! See above.

They even kind of have Sheppard hair. LOL (and they are some of my favorite kinds of cookies.)

Please, I'm no cook, either. But these are easy peasy to make. If I can do it, you can do it! See above.

You may. I love my kitchen! I should probably cook in it more. I know my family would be pleased ;)

I miss my kitchen! I'm out of town, and I actually dreamed about my big ole scrubbed wooden table the other evening . . . *is dork*

My sons love them, too. That's why I made these - I usually save them for holidays but I sent some to my son, who's out of state at school.

Hee! A new name for 'em for sure!

We used to call 'em thumbprints. (after you squish the chocolate in the center to look like you stuck your thumb in it)

But I call 'em turdcakes. For obvious reasons.

Uh, I think I'll go with thumbprints. :o

I made those once. My baking doesn't usually turn out, but those definitely did.

It's an easy recipe. It has to be or I won't try it.

Ooooh, those look yummy. Good thing I have no chocolate kisses in the house, or tonight's workout would be for nothing.

That's why I usually only make these at the holidays. Because I'm helpless when they're in the house.

Oooooh, my mom makes something similar. But she bakes her in a mini-cupcake pan using chocolat chip dough. (Usually at Christmas time we have the annual Hunting of the Proper Sized Christmas Themed Cupcake Papers. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find those papers.)

And they are EVIL. Delicious, delicious evil.

Apparently, the cookie nom-ness made me forget how to freakin' spell. 'Her' should be 'hers' and 'chocolat' should be 'chocolate'.

They definitely ARE a delicious evil. Soooo good.

OMG, my mom and I used to make those cookies all the time! They are indeed just as delicious as I imagine Joe Flanigan is. Not that I imagine that at all. Not a lot. Just a little bit. Really hardly at all. Really....

Well, mine don't look anything like yours because as soon as I dropped them onto the cookie sheet the batter spread out flat, making one big but thin cookie across the pan, but on the plus side, they are yummy.
Thanks for the recipe. *adds to memories*

I'm not sure. Most commonly, we use something called Crisco in the states. Does that help?

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm cookies!

now that the weather is cooling down I'll be more inclined to turn on the oven and consume many extra calories that I really don't need, but will enjoy.

oh, and I'm with the crowd, your kitchen looks great!
