Russia has right to respond forcefully to EU for its siding with Ukraine — politician

Viktor Medvedchuk noted that Vladimir Zelensky was counting on a direct military conflict between Europe and Russia and was doing everything to achieve that

MOSCOW, May 22. /TASS/. Russia has the right to respond forcefully to Europe, since by supplying Kiev with weapons, it has long been complicit in the Ukrainian conflict, Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the Other Ukraine movement and former leader of the banned Opposition Platform - For Life party, noted.

As the politician wrote in an article on the movement’s website, when the Ukrainian army attempts to strike deep into Russian territory, "Russia has the right to strike Europe as a full-fledged participant in the conflict." He noted that Europe must stop pumping weapons into Ukraine and serving as a rear support for the Ukrainian army in this conflict.

"Europe must withdraw from the Ukrainian conflict, not participate in it, which will inevitably lead to a nuclear war," Medvedchuk emphasized.

At the same time, he noted, Vladimir Zelensky is counting on a direct military conflict between Europe and Russia and is doing everything to achieve this. "It would be reasonable to propose to Moscow steps toward detente, which would bring the EU and Britain out of the military confrontation with Russia," the politician wrote.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that the collective West has placed its bets on a strategic defeat for Russia that it has devised, within the framework of which it continues to pump the Kiev regime with weapons, military equipment, and provide other assistance to it. Moscow has repeatedly emphasized that the West's shipment of weapons to Kiev and assistance in training Ukrainian troops only prolongs the conflict and does not change the situation on the battlefield.
