Hey, I can has split pea soup! :D I think I'm in love with my blender. So in love. All I did was chop vegetables, let cook for 40 minutes while I went along my business, then pureed for about 10 seconds. :) Also, I just talked to my mom for 40 minutes and now it is after 10 and I'm not sure about why I'm still staring at the computer.

I also tried a Dutch crown braid for the first time today (here). If I can get this to work out nicely it'll be a great way to keep my hair out of my face. Alas, my hair is really, really thick and I'm not sure if I'll ever get it to work nicely. I wonder if I could do two braids side-by-side. Heh.

[livejournal.com profile] shorelle did a contact post meme thing that I am going to steal... tomorrow. I don't know where today went, but it's long gone and I'd like to write in my paper journal now, please. But first I have dishes to wash. Interminable dishes to wash. Do they ever go away? *sigh*

Well, I watched more Murder, She Wrote and almost have an entire back of a sweater. *throws confetti* Things! Done! Very much avoiding school thoughts still.

I took another sick day today, my first day back in MN. I got home at 8:45pm yesterday and made a beeline for the grocery store, stocked up, and ran back where it's cosy and warm. Today I've spent the day sort of unpacking and generally laying around. I didn't really want to spend today like this, but I'm still pretty beat from the surgery. Still in lots of pain. YIPPEE.

So today I've been watching a lot of Murder, She Wrote on Netflix. I idolized Angela Lansbury as a kid and now I almost worship this show. Jessica (the character) uses LOGIC. And tea sets! And she wears adorable old-lady clothes and has impeccable manners! She bikes all over her island. She's quite the environmentalist who dislikes cars. :D Also, the first season was filmed in 1984, so it's refreshing to get a taste of that life before the technology available to my generation. Maybe it's my cynicism regarding technology, but everyone seems to be very involved with one another, instead of now where we're all very involved with our computers. Plus, how would she have all this time to walk and bike and solve murders if she were playing Farmville?

I'm only cynical about computers because of my personal experience. I have made a few great friends through the internet, but it has also prevented me from making friends in high school (and in the first few years of college). I'm pretty terrible at friendships because I haven't had a lot of experience offline. So I love watching shows like this where, hey, there's nothing to do so why don't I write a book and help my friend the sheriff solve a murder. (Also, Jessica keeps shoving her way into crime scenes and 'helping' even where the detectives don't want her help. She's very self-assured. It's great to watch.)

She also took the train in the first episode. :D
