Hi. Yes, I'm still here. I'm even still reading my friendlist regularly. Sorry about the lack of commenting or posting of late, but, well, life getting in the way.
Mostly by life I mean work, of course--I'm still enjoying my job but my god it is high-intensity. But I've bored many people by being unable to shut up about work (I really am sorry, and everyone I've been babbling at has been very sweet not to just tell me to shut up about it). So, I will try not to post about it unless something truly spectacular happens.
Anyway, it's been months since I posted. Big things in the past few months: In July
huskyscotsman and I went on holiday--France to Switzerland to Italy (via Liechtenstein) to France (via Monaco) in a week. By car. Over the alps. There are photos on Flickr.
We then went up to
huskyscotsman's brother's wedding in Scotland in August. It was a very beautiful wedding, everyone seemed to have fun, and I got to buy some incredibly gorgeous red shoes. Goodness all around.
And since then, uh, there's been a lot of TV, because frankly I mostly just want to decompress a little when I get home and so does
huskyscotsman. Let's see... Dr. Horrible isn't really TV, but I am more than a little obsessed with it (like so many others). I suspect there's not a lot more I can add to discussions about it at this point, except endless bitchings about how it's not released in the UK iTunes store yet.
And
huskyscotsman and I watched season 1 of Due South, largely because I keep reading
truepenny's excellent reviews. Season 2 is on order right now. It's a fascinating show, and I'm glad I was inspired to pick it up.
Also, fuelled by the Dr. Horrible obsession and my not-inconsiderable NPH fangirling, I picked up the first season of How I Met Your Mother. Man, that's a dreadful first episode. And yeesh, laughter track? But I persevered (mostly because I had bought the whole season so it was Not Going To Defeat Me) and hey, it gets better, it gets to be genuinely funny on occasion (instead of sitcom-cliche-funny) and is actually pretty compelling by the end of the first season. And NPH is awesome in it. I will probably buy season 2 when it comes out here, which considering how repelled I initially was is a pretty big turnaround.
Other DVDs piled up: Peep Show (we're somewhere in season 3 at the moment), Flight of the Conchords (which we watched two or three episodes of before being distracted by other things), Heroes (season 1, which, uh, we BTed and enjoyed so felt we should buy, and will probably will rewatch at some point soonish despite being less enamored of season 2).
Oh, and then there's the black hole of TV known as Dave--a whole TV channel of shows which are usually at least watchable and often funny. Comedy quiz shows, mostly. It's frustratingly easy to turn it on and then find that three hours have passed. I have lost several evenings this way. But hey, I'm getting to see a lot of QI.
I've also managed to get a haircut for the first time in months. Alas, it is not a very nice cut (too short, and weird at the back) and it was that particular hair salon's second chance, so I won't be going back there. My plan is to go elsewhere this weekend to get some coloured stripes put in to make it a little less meh.
And now there is dinner pending, so I must scurry. I'll try to post again in the near future, honest.

Clearly either people need to stop recommending things to me, or I need to disable Dave from my freeview box.

I think Wonderfalls is slightly better but they're both very good.

Just thought I'd point you at the SF fan / perfume creator's blog if you hadn't run across it before.

Also, I noticed the dialogue is much better in Season 2. Season 1 sounds like they were cutting and pasting their sentences from The Complete Guide to Cliche Movie Dialogue.
Still think the plot arc on Season 1 is better, though. Hopefully this time a writer's strike won't narf things up.
