Ed Asner (November 15, 1929-August 29, 2021) was an American actor, producer and voice actor who was best known for his role as Lou Grant in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and spin-off Lou Grant. Both shows were created by Simpsons co-producer James L. Brooks He has also voiced Carl Fredricksen in the Disney/Pixar movie Up and Ed Wuncler in the Adult TV Show The Boondocks.
On The Simpsons, he provided the voice of the Lifeways Editor of the Springfield Shopper in "Guess Who's Coming to Criticize Dinner?".
