actually this is the only way my phone internet will log me into lj, this isn't an update

So I went to the midnight premiere of The Last Airbender last night! Overall, my feelings about it are definitely more positive than they are negative. I'll be honest, I'm not sure yet that I can definitely say that I liked it; however, I'm seeing it again on Friday when kyatto gets down here so I'll have more organized thoughts after that, I'm sure.

OKAY so sorairo_laina yelled at me for never updating my LJ aaaaaaaand I hate my summer class that I am in right now so here I am.

Uh. I realize it's been ages since I last updated aaaaand there's been all kinds of stuff going on in my life since the last time I made an ACTUAL update, so I'm not going to try to catch you up on it because that would be a very long and very boring entry. So instead I'm just going to hit the major points 8D

• Saturday was my last day in the costume shop with Shakespeare Dallas... we had loadout and now we are done ): It was exhausting, but I loved it, and I feel like I really learned a lot while working there.
Said last day was followed by the Comedy opening... and then the cast party... and I didn't get home until 4:30 am on Sunday. Woo!
• I am spending most of my summer taking ASL for my foreign language credit. UNT requires us to have four semesters of language for core credit, how retarded is that? Anyway, I thought this would be a really awesome class and lots of fun to learn, but in reality the teacher is terrible and it's killing my GPA o9
• Repo rehearsals & shows continue apace. We just had our "freakshow" theme show Friday night, which means our next one's about a month from now. It's a video game theme show, and hoozilla talked me into being Samus for it because she is a tard. Which is totally what I'm going to do, because I have no other ideas except for using my Demyx which is DEFINITELY not going to be finished by then. (Although one of the other girls on cast is doing Halloweentown Sora!)
• Boys are dumb. And that is all I have to say about that.
(Corollary: a group of my friends - male and female both - decided that girls are insane and boys are stupid, so yes that is a perfectly fair statement because I have no trouble accepting that girls are insane.)
• AVATAR OPENS IN A COUPLE OF DAYS HOLY SHIT. I'm going to the midnight premiere in costume with a bunch of my friends... provided that we can find one in the area. This is startlingly difficult, for some reason.
• August is going to be a good month: I move into my apartment (and out of my parents' house! Wooooo!) and sorairo_laina is coming to visit!!

... Okay, I think that's all the major points.

That's... about it, really.

Okay, I know there are some artsy types out there on my flist - do any of you know of a website where I can, like. Manipulate a human figure into a particular pose? I know SOFTWARE like that exists, but I obviously don't own it.

Does anyone know how to get into the AutoCorrect settings on the Vista version of Word? I want to shut off automatic capitalization in cells in a table and I don't know how ;o;

Sorry I've been so absent lately. I've been under a lot of stress and pressure lately thanks to Ghetto and assorted other stuff going on in my life, so I haven't really been on LJ much with what little other time I have. I'm a terrible flister and I really don't expect to get any comments on any of my entries anymore, since it's not like I've commented on anyone else's in weeks.

Still on an RP hiatus, for the same reasons as listed above. I still don't have any motivation.

I'm pretty sure I've spent the last six, eight weeks in a state somewhere between tired and delirious with exhaustion. My grades aren't suffering, at least, thankfully.

I've been finding it really hard to motivate myself to do anything other than drag from one class to the next for... a while now. I'm still, y'know, doing my homework, and eating, and everything. Not doing a lot of sleeping, though that's probably all I'd do if I could. But with a couple of notable exceptions over the last couple of months, it's been really hard for me to be terribly excited about anything. I'm not sure why. It's not like my life is going badly right now or anything. I should, by all reasonable definitions, be pretty happy with the way things are going. I don't know why I'm not.

We had auditions for the drag show for ADD tonight. I went for Graverobber. I didn't get it.

I did get the Shakespeare Dallas internship I applied for. It's a pretty big deal, so I'm trying to focus on that instead.

I'm glad I have a meeting with my therapist tomorrow.

Okay, so.

I've long had this vague interest in steampunk, and thought it might be cool to put together an outfit of some kind - but never really had any idea where to begin. The Victorian-dress part is easy; I'm a costume design major, after all, so neither the design nor the research element is particularly complicated for me. The actual steampunk part of it, though - I was TOTALLY lost.

Until AllCon this weekend, where I went to a steampunk panel hosted by a group called the Delirium of Grandeur. They talked about what steampunk is, and where it comes from, and also MAKING STEAMPUNK STUFF which is what I needed help with.

Sooooo... now I have a bit of an obsession. :x

I've created a character as well! Her name is Constance Vauxhall, and she's a dirigible pilot-for-hire slash adventurer. (The adventuring part is for fun, the hiring part is so she can pay for said adventuring.) I've got a design for her outfit as well as some ideas for all the fun steampunky elements I'm going to put together. (AND A HAT!)

The thing I don't have (other than money) is a name for her dirigible. It badly needs one.
