Nothing much else going on around here. We're supposed to go see Legally Blonde: The Musical tonight. Problem is, we have an extra ticket, and I can't find anyone to use it! Very annoying.
... Yep, that's it. I'm boring right now lmfao.
(no, I am still not sick of this icon. eeeheehee.)
edit: Hotmail is doing that thing with my safe/blocked senders lists again. I posted to their help forums and I'm giving them one more chance to actually fix it, instead of telling me that there can't possibly be anything wrong! so if I don't respond to your comment, that's why.
Okay so I'm way too lazy to go back and read like five pages worth of posts on my flist so if anything important happened tell me k?
I have had a very busy weekend. Friday was my transfer student orientation at UNT. I spent a lot of time sitting around waiting for my turn, ran into an old friend from high school, met one of the theatre teachers, and got myself registered for classes.
You guys, my schedule for fall semester is awesome:
Monday: 3:30-4:50 - Archaeology 6:00-8:50 - Stage Management I Tuesday: 9:30-11:50 - Lighting & Sound I 12:30-1:50 - Costume I Wednesday: 1:00-4:50 - Archaeology Thursday: same as Tuesday Friday: NOTHING, MOTHERFUCKERS
fuck. yesssss.
Anyway, after that I went over to tobira_no_mukou's house to celebrate her birthday ♥♥♥ We went swimming and drank way too much soda and just generally had a blast. I didn't get home until late Saturday afternoon lmao.
Saturday night my mom and I went to see Happy Days. It wasn't the best show I've ever seen, but it was cute.
In other news, my sister caught a wild bunny. No, I'm not kidding.
Today my family went out to the restaurant at Bass Pro Shop on Lake Ray Hubbard for lunch. It was FUCKING DELICIOUS. I had blackened tuna which was SUSHI-QUALITY and just baaaarely seared, kind of like beef tataki. Oh my god it was delicious. Then my mom and Kimmie and I oogled boats, hahaha.
Then after that I drove out to Irving for my first ever Repo Shadowcast meeting! It was a BLAST, everyone was really cool, and I think it's going to be pretty awesome. Our first show will be at midnight on Halloween. 8D I'm one of the Henchgirls and a Backup Shilo, there are some crazy fast costume changes she has to make and our Shilo isn't sure she can do it fast enough for it to work. So I may get to do a couple of Shilo's songs! That would be so awesome.
And now I'm watching the Tonys. I don't really know much about most of the shows up for awards this year, so pretty much my only comment is that it was fucking hilarious that Jane Fonda mispronounced "Godot" and Will Ferrell called her out on it.
Kristin burned me a copy of her Little Mermaid Broadway soundtrack which I have been listening to obsessively (AND IT IS HILARIOUS AND AWESOME OMG I LOVE IT) and of course Scuttle is in it, right, and he has seagull friends and they do a couple of extremely silly songs.
For some reason I cannot find the lyrics to the one called "Positoovity" which is very sad, as it is hysterical, because one of the seagulls says something about gulls being able to do something which is called GULL-ABILITY.
trasnochadora: I know they're interchangeable and all, but potatoes are crops, too nakotaco: Iowa nakotaco: I didn't say Idaho trasnochadora: what about it nakotaco: it doesn't exist nakotaco: it's a government conspiracy nakotaco: *nodnodnod* trasnochadora: if this is some obscure pop culture reference, observe as I don't get it nakotaco: it's not :D nakotaco: there's just no such thing as Iowa. trasnochadora: I'll take your word on that XD nakotaco: it's truuuueeee
...No, seriously. IT'S ALL IN YOUR HEADS, PEOPLE.
I went to see Chicago on Sunday night with the mumsie. As a result I've had "Roxie" stuck in my head since then. WHO SAYS THAT MURDER'S NOT AN AAAART~? ...uh yeah. I was underwhelmed, to be entirely honest. The main thing that struck me about it was that Lisa Renna (Roxie) is a TV actress and a talk show host, not a stage actress, and it showed: all of her emotions and movements and everything were very small and contained, which works great on film but not so much on stage. Terra McLeod... wait... did I spell that right? *digs out Playbill* ...no, it's MacLeod she was Velma ANYWAY she looked like she was MADE for Fosse shows. She had very short slicked-back dark hair and a strong jawline and oh my god could she DANCE, she was just perfect. Mama Morton was likewise perfect, with a huge, belting, professional-gospel-choir voice. "Class" about killed me, MAIGOD hearing the two to them sing together. Amos has always been a particular favourite and I was glad to see him done justice. "Mr Cellophane" was wonderful. I was singularly unimpressed by Tom Wopat's Billy Flynn. Yeah yeah I know. But to me the song "Razzle Dazzle" has always kind of defined his character -- moreso than "All I Care About" -- and I didn't get the razzle dazzle! Sparkle from him that the character is meant to have. The staging struck me as odd, too; it was very minimalistic, with the orchestra in a stylised jury box onstage. The cast interacted with the orchestra and conductor on several occasions which was in and of itself kind of nifty, but the entire cast was also only about twenty people, which meant that the majority of the cast members played Merry Murdresses/police officers/reporters/the jury. This wouldn't have been so bad except that the visual clues to determine which they were were very small: the reporters carried notepads. When one of the women was Go-To-Hell-Kitty, she wore a sparkly necklace. The police officers and doctors we only knew as such because that was how they were addressed. And there was no dancing on cell doors in the "Cell Block Tango," this made me a sad Nako because that's one of my favourite numbers.
And now that I've gone on ad nauseam about that, and the only one of you who probably cares is Musa who has heard it all already, I shall move on.
The Drama starts tomorrow. TONIGHT, technically. ♥. No, I shall not explain myself. Ha, ha.
I still have to do my museum visit for art appreciation. This would not be a problem, as I love museums, except that I have no idea what's showing in the area and I'm way too lazy to dig out the newspaper and look it up. Anyone in the D/FW area know of anything in particular?
On a related note, one of the girls in my class -- her name is Cyn -- is a Lostie. This is thrilling, except that she has not seen the season finale AUGH WHY. This is the same girl who the first day of class was like SO DO YOU SMOKE POT. She kind of reminds me of you, Noah. ♥
My Buckingham Palace Guard bear still does not have a name. Suggestions?
To take a page from cleolinda's illustrious book, LINKSPAM! Because I feel like sharing, and this is the eentahrweb so I can share EVEN IF NO-ONE LISTENS.
We got the catalogue associated with this website today. AWESOME stuff they have on here. Gorgeous gypsy clothes and really pretty jewelry. And the occasional WTFHILARIOUS item such as this.
This is simultaneously fascinating, frightening and hilarious. Why did I not know it existed?
Did you know that back when Earth was just a baby, microbes actually lived in lava? No, seriously, what the crap. That is so cool.
Reno is sex with goggles. Sooooooooo serious. HE'S ON MY WALL. 83
Anyone who has not already read this needs to do so immediately and without delay. Those of you who have, too, just because it's THAT. FUNNY.
...
THAT'S ALL 8D
...PS ISN'T MY NEW MOODTHEME PRITTYE? I already forget the name of the LJ of its maker but it's on my info. WHICH I CLEANED UP BTW. Be proud of me.
So I just spent like an hour and a half on the phone with Spouse being a total theatre kid XDD It's so much fun. Why didn't I start doing this earlier? wtf, me. I should've totally at least taken acting I in high school.
The show's coming together really well, I'm so excited. For "Beauty School Dropout" the choreography is TONS of fun and we get to wear BLUE BEEHIVES and I finally figured out how to to the jitterbug in "Born to Hand Jive" properly, so I no longer have to stomp my feet around and hope it looks right. XD We're going back over Act I on Monday though... which we haven't touched in a week and a half. x__x Hopefully we'll all actually remember our blocking and choreography. I have to dance on a bench during "Summer Nights," bleurgh.
wtf, my music is skipping DD: sad Nako, I love this CD, why is all skippy? It's not even actually a CD it's on WMP I do not understand.
Brawl is the funniest thing IN THE WORLD. Meg made the best voice post ever and I think the entire Naruto fandom is about to explode. DRAMAAAAA.
Open as many kittiloaf windows as your brain can handle.
After a while, you'll hear them start to say "JOIN US," "LADYBUG," "WOMEN'S SKIRTS," and "COLA COLA COLA," among other things. You will definitely hear them go "MY EYE MY EYE MY EYE MY EYE," which is creepy enough in and of itself.
It sounds like something out of a horror movie about an evil ice-cream truck driver.
Seriously, you have to experience this.
I wish I'd counted how many windows I had open...I bet it was 16. o_O The numbers are fucking haunting me, man. I swear to god I heard the Whispers this morning. Though that could have been because I only got an hour and a half of sleep last night. I blame Noah.
Llp. In other news...I saw Les Miserables tonight, finally. It totally blew me away. I talked my mom into buying the three-CD dream cast album :DDD Yay!
I also landed myself a side job! At least two nights this week, possibly three, I'm gonna be selling Les Miz souvenirs. Like I did for Phantom. I'd totally forgotten, but Dewynters, the company who does the advertising for PotO, also does Les Miz. So the guy running the show there knows Donna! :D Hooray! Money = good.
The best thing that happened to me today, though?
...I got an advance reading copy of the new Artemis Fowl book.
Ohhh yes I did.
It doesn't even come out until September. God I love working at a bookstore.
...It's amazing, btw. Full of awesome and win.
Also, megun_chan is awesome, because she made me yet another rockin' icon. CHARLIEXCLAIRE OTP! Sadly, since my journal's having fits right now, I can't show it off, but have no fear...you will. Ohhhh, you will.
So, I definitely do not ever want to know what's really in beef jerky - besides shit like "malodextrin" and "monosodium glutamate", of course - but it sure is tasty.
My mom and I saw Little Women tonight. The music was okay, not the best show I've ever seen, but both Marmee (who was played by Maureen McGovern) and Jo had wonderful voices. Also, I really, really liked the guy who played Professor Bhaer; he was very funny. Apparently, he also played Jean Valjean in Les Miz on Broadway!
On a related note, there's an ad in my Playbill for an album being released by a guy named Brian Stokes Mitchell. I swear to god I know who that is, but I can't think of it - anyone have any ideas?
Also, apparently the Tonys are on Sunday the 11th. Who wants to watch 'em with me at Akon?! 0-x
Ummm. Oh!
I'll be in Austin for the next two days for some kind of dumbshit Girl Scout awards ceremony. So I won't be back until Monday night. Sorry, guys D: I WILL MISS YOU ALL BUNCHES.
My friend Nevena - we went to school together for something like twelve years - is in town for the GHS graduation, and we got to hang out tonight, which was awesome; since her family moved out to California at the end of last year, I haven't seen her in months.
Progress on my cosplays is slow but steady. It's looking like I'm going to have to ditch Terra this year; I'm barely going to have time to pull together Pinako, Winry, and my still-unnamed pirate as it is.
The Mavs won tonight! YAY! We won the conference finals! That means we're playing in the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history. YAY! :DDD Apparently we're playing the Miami Heat, and the first game is Thursday. *bounces excitedly*
So, big spooky epsiode of Criminal Minds tonight. Eeeeeeee. And I have to wait a whole week to see the next one. *cries* ( Collapse )
Also, I found out today that James Marsters is making a new movie called Shadow Puppets. Sounds like a horror-thriller type movie. Which is fine by me, I couldn't care less what type of movie it is, so long as he's in it. XDD
Okay, and here I'm going to make a brief (?) tangent off into Fangirl Land. I decided to read through James Marsters' bio on IMDb, just for fun, and came across the following:
"His appearance at the 2002 Shore Leave sci-fi convention was so popular that a great number of fans had to watch his Q&A sessions from specially set up monitors outside the conference hall. Despite the almost Beatlemania-like overcrowding at the event, he stayed on for over 2 hours after he was scheduled to leave to ensure every single fan who'd waited in line got an autograph."
*sporfles*
OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS GUY.
Also, it struck me as amusing that his favorite episode of BtVS is "Once More With Feeling." *giggles* Also also, he does his own stunts. And he went to Julliard.
This was cool too:
"This job is so far beyond any expectations I had. I mean, I'm on a postage stamp in Russia . There's no way you can plan for that. You just have to sit back and giggle and go, 'Oh, wow.'"
*more fangirly giggling*
"Spike was not stupid, but I don't think his hallmark quality was vast reserves of intelligence - charm, good hair, maybe, but not intelligence."
*and more* GOOD HAIR. EEEEEEEEHHEEHEHEHEHEHEHE.
Ahem. Okay. I'm done now. I swear.
Night before last noroki_girl, demon_wolf and I crashed the Rangers chat. XDDD It was lots of fun. We didn't actually do anything that bad...just sort of went in and were generally extremely weird, then left. Heh.
I also finally got Skype, and spent quite some time giggling with Trisha and Doro and Gluttony. Then I had to go to bed. >> And now no one's on... DDDD: Or rather, they are, but no one's talking to me. *cries*
Ummm. What else.
Last night I went to a Mavs watch party at Buffalo Wild Wings with Nina and a couple of her friends, and some of her friend's friends. It was a ton of fun. Didn't hurt that the Mavs won 113 to 91. GO MAVS WOO! Next game's this Saturday, and a home game, too. If we can kick ass like we did last time, we are going to PWN.
Hmm. Has anyone on my flist seen Fame? Because according to Google this song *points* is on the soundtrack, but on stlyrics it's not listed as being either in the movie or the stage show, and besides which I know it's not in the movie because I own the movie, and it's not in there anywhere. WTF?
On a totally unrelated note that I'm sure no one else will care two shits about, the new cover image for the current chapter of Inverloch has caused quite a lot of excitement among the fans. Most of it is along the lines of "OMFGSH DEHOODING?!?!?!" I can't say I didn't do the same thing, either. XDDD
Got some new books today. Even though I swore to myself I wouldn't. x__x;;; I picked up The Gypsy Game by Zilpha Keatley Snyder. The Egypt Game, to which this one is a sequel, was one of my favorite books as a kid. I also got The Blue Girl by Charles de Lint, which I mainly picked up because it has a badass freaking cover. The other book I got was Dangerous Angels by Francesca Lia Block; I read her book I Was a Teenage Fairy years ago and, despite the rather unoriginal title, it was fabulous. Anyway, I'm working my way through Gypsy Game right now, and thoroughly enjoying myself. Yes, I realise it's a children's book.
Also, I'd like everyone to note that I finally found something to use for "Entry Tags" in the sidebar. No thanks to you people. XP
Yeah, and now that this entry is longer than should be legal, I think I'll stop.
So I had a second interview today with a different manager at Barnes & Noble. Hopefully I can actually get this job, because if I do, that would pretty much rock. The woman was actually late, so I stood around for like half an hour and read Teen Titans/Outsiders "The Death and Return of Donna Troy." XDDD That was fun. Sadly, I was unable to finish it.
Also, I looked around for the new versions of the Artemis Fowl covers that were supposed to have been released today, but the bookstore people said not only did they not have them, they hadn't been told anything about new ones being released. Hooz, do you know anything about this?
BTW, is this "current location" thing confusing anyone else? I keep forgetting it's there and trying to type my music in it instead. Good job, Nako.
Anyway, work was good tonight. I worked the valet booth and still sold $2700 worth of merchandise. For that booth, that's a lot. No crazy old ladies tonight, sadly. Though there were these two women I chatted with for about fifteen minutes, during which time they ended up spending about fifty more bucks between them on other stuff. Aahahahahaha, I win. Actually, I win twice, because I beat David - he only did $2500. Ahahahaahahahahaha again.
Also, Carl and I got into a mini-water fight. He kept poking me and sticking his fingers in my ear (...yeah, I don't know. No idea how William puts up with him. ♥ Carl.), so of course I had to retaliate...I squirted him with my water bottle, and then he tried to steal it, and I wouldn't let go and neither would he...so now it looks sort of deformed. XDDDD I kept it, too, it now lives on my bookshelf next to the ramune bottle.
Tonight was actually Gary's - the Phantom's - last night on the show. He and his wife (who is actually one of the alternate Christines) are moving out to Arizona to raise their kids. So I ended up giving Carl a poster to give to Gary via William to sign (did that sentence make any kind of sense? XD). So that should be cool, once I get it back and get the rest of the cast to sign it.
Ummmmm. Watched some of The King and I today, the awesome 1956 version with Yul Brenner. I seriously need to locate the soundtrack for it. That, and the Broadway version of Bye Bye Birdie. And Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. Yep.
I actually first got this song off of _rednovember's Zutara FST "When Worlds Collide" (which is awesome, by the way, random pimpage). Now it's my ringtone, too :3 I win.
So, yes. There's the song. Don't forget to tell me if you download!
Also, I have a special treat for you tonight: puppy dog spam! These are all pictures of my beloved doggies. I also often call them my babies. They are adorable and cute and *devolves into incoherent baby talk and squeeing noises*
Anyway. This is Maggie. This is Diana. This is Maggie again, carrying one of the squeaky toys we got them for Christmas, and this is Diana, also with one of the squeaky toys. That's about as close as she ever gets to actually playing with them. XDDD Here's Maggie sitting on my sister's squooshy pillow. Here, Diana looks puzzled about...well, God only knows what, she's puzzled a lot of the time. XDDD
Yay, I'm listening to jesus music! :D But that's okay, because it's Kristin Chenoweth jesus music, and Kristin Chenoweth = win.
Hmmmmm. I think that's about all. ♥ to all! :3
-ETA- Oh yeah, I almost forgot - I still don't know which of you it is that's going to see Phantom! D: ANSWER ME~ OMFG.
