Dyad (poem, SGA, John/Rodney)
Nov. 10th, 2024 03:55 amThis was inspired by posts from two-bees-poetry on tumblr. It's kind of a "concrete poem" I guess, where the structure and layout on the page form part of the poem. It's essentially three poems - vertically for Rodney, vertically for John, and horizontally for them both combined. I like challenging myself with poetic structures and this was an interesting diversion. It's posted on AO3: Dyad.
Of course it's a nightmare to display on-line, so there's the text which might not display properly, especially on phones. Maybe if you turn the phone to landscape? Then there's an image of the poem which will be better for mobile if images are okay for you.

| Rodney | John |
| i didn't want | to lose friends again, |
| real friends, | i can't do it, gotta be |
| all the time | shielded, putting up walls, |
| competing, being right. | means i'm all |
| false front, fakery, | smirk and snark. |
| told myself | i didn't care, careful |
| lies, hid behind | what others saw, |
| bluster, sarcasm, | what i let them see, |
| and words… | worked for the military so long |
| i weaponized words. | it's NDAs all the way down. |
| but you, | you barged in |
| called me team | broke my walls |
| saved my life | stole my food |
| made me laugh, | wouldn't take no. |
| you're my friend, | my best friend, and |
| maybe more. | i hope more. |
