My story took an unexpected turn this morning while I was doing my daily twenty minutes on it. What has startled me the most is my tackling a child character. I usually avoid writing kid!fic, and this story has a fairly prominent child character, so I am pleased with the chance to tackle the challenge.

Yay for something unexpected! It says a lot about your writing that you're looking forward to the challenge and not smacking your head into your notepad crying stupid, stupid muse.

There was a bit of No, muse, what are you doing? but I think that surprise gave me forward momentum I needed.

I'm kind of excited by a turn the story took but it's going to require I write SG1 characters and I'm never confident about that.

You can do it! If you don't want to have to rewatch SG-1 episodes, this site has pretty much everything you could need: http://www.stargate-sg1-solutions.com/index.php

It has episode transcripts and really detailed bios and also some crazy things, like a list of all the times each character has died.

Writing characters you don't usually write can be a real challenge. But you can do it!

I love that picture, so gorgeous! Tell me what it is?

I've spent time doing research. Turns out the feeling I got from the movies that Aragon and Legolas have been friends for a long time, has no real base in canon of the books... Well, there's no real evidence that they hadn't met before Rivendell either, so I guess I'm safe enough. I'll make sure to note the story is set in the movie verse.

Not much writing has happened, but the story is on my mind, and in my imagination a lot is going on ;)

I get the sense that a lot of writers underestimate how important research is to the writing process, so good on you for doing it. :)

Thank you :) I do try to research the important stuff, and things I'm not quite sure of. But I don't have tons of patience, which is probably why one of my slightly more historical AU stories keeps getting pushed aside by easier writing :D

Research. It's work but sometimes the most surprising things come out of it.

from the text

The ancient Incas believed the stone was the solidified blood of their past rulers, lending the mineral its nickname, “Inca Rose.” Also known as the “Stone of Love and Balance,” rhodocrosite is suggested as an aide for mending a hurting heart, tackling life’s changes with bravado and wisdom, and for bringing calm in troubling times.

(I could use dozen of these :)

I think we could all use one or two, or dozen, and some point in our lives :D Though I'd get it just because it so pretty too, I've always had a thing for translucent or semi-opaque stones. There's so much beauty in all the fractures and inclusions!
