Has your creative work taken a turn you never expected? Been influenced by dreams? Has music or mood influenced your piece?
I once dreamt I was a cat weaving between and rubbing against Rodney McKay's legs. I don't think we need to spent too much time trying to figure out what that dream meant. *coff*
I found a note I wrote a few days ago. A list really, and on it I'd written: Toothpaste - Coffee filters - Uniform kink.**
And if you have things that help your creative muse along, is it something you can incorporate into your day like a certain song or a walk in the woods? Or does it come completely out of the blue?
** Apparently my subconscious is working on something. I can't wait to find out what it is.

Date: 2016-03-11 01:18 am (UTC)Songs are most likely to inspire. Lyrics or melodies. I adore song fics so hard.
If I am going to be writing a particularly emotionally charged piece (I often write with music in the background) I might seek out a specific song to set the mood while I write (but if the scene were a movie it's not necessarily a song I'd choose to play in the background of the scene, if that makes any sense).
So, music always works for me.
What works best, though, hands down, is other people. Through prompts. Or even a silly question. What would Rodney McKay be like as a hairdresser? You ask, I try to answer. I think it's reflexive at this point because of work.

You realize I really want to read the story that evolves from that list now, right?
