Apparently, the last time I updated my LJ profile was in 2013 or 2014.

UNTIL NOW!!!

I still haven't made all of the changes I want to make, but I figure I'd mention that I'm working on it so that if you want, you can check it every now and then and see what I've updated. :)

(Note that some of the more negative things on my profile - particularly the "Dark Matt1993" LJ Trading/Tarot cards - are left over from the time I updated my profile in 2012 or 2013. I'll probably leave those up for posterity, but clarify that I've finally less worried about everyone seeing me that way. :) )

(That gave me an idea, actually... maybe I should make LJ Trading and Tarot cards based on all of my userpics? That would actually be a good way to explain some of the ones with inside jokes in them! Probably not any time soon and/or for my profile, though...)

EDIT: I forgot to mention: comments on the updates to the profile as I work on it are more than welcome :) Also, why did no one tell me that I put a LJ-cut instead of a repost button below by accident at first?

I know it seems like I ask "There's not a lot of comments! Where the sail did I go wrong?!" a lot and probably don't wait long enough before I do - and this time, I haven't even resisted for as long as I normally do.

But I'm gonna go ahead and post the dreaded Poll of Was It Anything I Said?! now* on the basis that my previous entry is more likely to unintentionally become controversial than anything else I've ever posted to LJ - and also on the basis that the Forbidden Comment Threads Ω and all these other things have gotten to me to such an extent that it feels like I've gotten worse at explaining things.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while even though my 21st birthday was last week. For my birthday I went on a trip to New Orleans with Mom, pathvain_aelien, and ellaina02, and I was going to post as soon as I got back. But then it started feeling like it would be too much effort to post about all of it since so much happened, so even though we got back on the 16th, it was only just now that I was able to convince myself to post anything. And even that's only because I decided I wouldn't add tags to it yet.

So anyway, what we did:

- The night before we went to New Orleans, we stayed at a haunted hotel in Jefferson, Texas. Most of it think it felt like it really was haunted, but we were all too sleepy to stay up and try to witness anything that was definitely unusual...
- In New Orleans we went on a swamp tour where we saw some alligators (and some raccoons on the shore, or whatever the swamp equivalent of a shore is because I'm not good with that kind of terminology), went on some streetcar rides (which would have been fun if there hadn't been so many confusing detours :( ), and went gambling a couple of times :) And despite having decided a long time ago to never drink alcohol even once even after I turned 21, I changed my mind at the last minute (well, not minute...) and had a strawberry daiquiri. I'm still going to refrain from having alcohol more than once in a while, but it was good :)
- Probably something else that I'm forgetting, since there were a lot of confusing moments on the trip.

My presents that I've gotten so far, aside from the trip itself:
- Ticket to a Sarah McLachlan concert on August 3!
- I get to pick out two games from the Nintendo eShop. I plan on getting Crashmo and Tomodachi Life, but I haven't bought them yet (though I already got the demo of the latter so I could decide for sure that I'd like it). Though at first I thought that pathvain_aelien meant that I could buy the games with my own debit card (or whatever it's called because I'm still financially illiterate after all these years), so I got NES Remix 2 as well before she clarified that I was supposed to... well, actually I'm still not sure exactly how I'm supposed to pay for the other two games (and I can't even describe my vague understanding of how I was supposed to do it except the money was supposed to be from either P_A or from Mom, and I forget which), so that's why I haven't done it yet. P_A, could you post a comment here explaining it both for me and for everyone else?

- Probably other stuff that I forgot.

You know what? If you have any questions you want to ask me about the trip or my presents, you'd probably get better answers from P_A than you would from me. This is why I held off on writing this entry for so long - I can't explain things well even when I understand them completely :(

I'm against SOPA for all of the same reasons that the Gods of Being Able to Voice Opinions Better than Matt1993 (e.g. LiveJournal, Wikipedia, Google, Randall Munroe, Ryan North...) are - and this is coming from a guy who usually doesn't comment on anything controversial because he either becomes depressed about what side to be on or posts about an occurrence of a number like 206 in a news article or something rather than actually discussing the issue.

In fact, until SOPA is rejected, I'm going to do a clever take on the blackouts that Wikipedia, Wikia, xkcd and Dinosaur Comics (and any other websites I don't know about yet) have done - I'll blackout as many of my userpics (well, not really blackout - I'm not sure how to describe it, so just look at the userpic on this entry) as I can before the 24th (or whenever SOPA is rejected, or - if we're too unlucky for that - SOPA is repealed after becoming law). To keep this from turning out like my attempt at replacing userpics with PSL-styled variations (i.e., not getting to finish soon enough), I'm gonna upload each one as soon as I make it. Dunno how many I'll be able to replace before the impending apocalypse the Senate begins voting on it, though...

EDIT: These are even more difficult to make than I thought! I only got four finished today, but trust me, you don't need to see 112 shadowed userpics containing somewhere from 5 to 109 SOPA jokes to see my (and LJ's, and Wikipedia's, and Google's...) point. According to Google, the White House didn't even need one. I'm still gonna make more, though!

And yes, I know my LJ isn't well-known enough for this to have much of an impact, but I'm putting the idea out there for anyone else who wants to try it.

*It's too different from our universe for it to be parallel :P
