Well, at least doctor's visits aren't terribly expensive? *laughs weakly*

It was $93 to see the dermatologist and they will call me back when the surgeon is free and I've spent enough time on antibiotics.

The bad news was how much the antibiotics cost sans insurance: $190.87

*sigh* At least it's getting done and the doctor was nice. She nerded out (her words) over the cysts and we had (slightly painful) fun getting samples to culture. And she thinks the antibiotics will relieve a lot of the pain too, which will be amazing.

  1. SO MUCH LESS STRESS TODAY. Keeping our money and our place, ftw! \o/
  2. Can #2 be I'm still happy? No? Um............ posting again was way less bad than I'd anticipated. UGH anxiety.
  3. Next week I get my ID card *\o/*

Different three topics, not my three good things:

BWAHAHA CHRIS MCDANIELS. Here's hoping for a Democratic upset!

I am so far behind for this week's deadline, oof. Constantly playing catch up because of hanging on to my stuff by the seat of my pants sucks. I'd rather be behind because of procrastination, you know?

Protip: If you love the people in your life who would be screwed over by your death, please leave them a will. They will remember you fondly instead of cursing because they spent a month in probate court.

Most of the local places to assist people in Mississippi are actually in Alabama or Louisiana. *facepalm*

I don't even know why I bothered anyway, because I should have guessed that I still wouldn't qualify. *sigh*

WDAM HAS JUST STARTED UPDATING THE WEBSITE! PRECINCTS HAVE STARTED TO REPORT IN!
majoline: snowy bare branch with cardinal; says majoline (Winter Icon)
I have done laundry, some picking up, and my civic duty! \o/

Ugh, WDAM doesn't yet have any numbers... still. But the little self-reporting poll on their site looks good. I can't tell where MSians stand anymore: they are getting more and more liberal, but what will set off the die-hard conservative Baptists is honestly hard to tell, especially since they're the group least likely to vote.

It's just waiting to see what comes out in the wash.

It looks like the vote is boiling down to half and half, which is in the middle of my expectations. So neither as bad as my evil!MS scenario, nor as good as my Hattiesburg-translates-to-the-whole-of-MS scenario.

and am dazed and twitchy and completely losing my marbles.

But it is okay, because I found a homemade twinkie recipe and I hope there will be a good cheerful reason to no longer be scatterbrained tomorrow. Ugh, I don't know how I've even kept functioning the minimal amount I have the past few days. I have remembered to do basic chores and pick up toilet paper. However, I have a feeling I've made no sense at all in essays and I just realized I've forgotten to check in as well as update the comm. *sigh*

Oh yeah, MS'ians don't forget to also vote no on the voting thing whose number I can't remember! It will restrict voting to only those who have two state issued IDs - so unless you think only people with concealed carry permits should be allowed to vote, vote NO!

*goes back to trying to distract myself with cooking blogs*

Here's hoping. *fingers crossed*

DEAR STUPID PEOPLE WHO KEEP CALLING MY HOUSE:

VOTING IS TUESDAY.

NONE OF THE POLITICIANS IN OUR STATE CAN VOTE IN A ***LEGISLATIVE SESSION*** SOMETHING THAT IS GOING ON A MISSISSIPPI-WIDE BALLOT FOR THE PEOPLE TO DECIDE.

STOP LYING.

Dear Mississippi DA,

Having a involuntary miscarriage is the same as derailing a train for shits and giggles? Really?

No love, Majoline

Now that I've read some of the MS coverings on Amend 26 and it seems we're sane! except for that Floridian chap, but he can't vote so :P

We got some milk on the way home from dinner as a snack with donuts. The milk was Borden.

The white milk is from Texas. The chocolate is from South Carolina. There is a dairy farm a half a mile from my house.

I started crying at the first billboard driving home.

The past couple of weeks groceries and restaurant dishes have gone up by a minimum of two dollars across the city. Angel Food ministries have had to close. Mississippians were already paying an average of $200 US more than the rest of the country for our food.

I don't even know anymore. I guess I'll see if anyone still carries anything except Borden.

because I've had all my pills run out one by one over the past week and ugh, is that really fucking draining. For some reason, the last few days of my pills aren't incredibly potent (probably because I've been buying them from walmart) and I just get really blah.

I am totally trying to figure out how to answer the Salon article without making y'all sit through a Mississippi Politics course because I don't know how to narrow down a semester class. In other words, my response might just be bulletpoints. :S That is a really distressing thought. Would those waiting eagerly for my response mind if I just addressed the article piece by piece?

And anyway, I might stick up a video soon and try to get people to watch/talk because all of the sudden my relatives and other fundamentalists and evangelicals have really started debating a piece of theology that I think might have massive repercussions. Only, when I stick videos up no one usually wants to talk about them, so... I dunno if you lot just don't have the ability to watch a video at home or something.

But note to all of my politically minded friends, BIG THINGS ARE HAPPENING DOWN AT THE CIRCLE K IN CONSERVATIVE-LAND ~*RELIGIOUSLY*~ and I will try to summarize the video if you'd really rather me not link it. I haven't really seen any links about it and now that I've seen a youtuber I've always felt was really on the ball talk about it, I feel that the ripple is worth discussion because it's making a huge kerfluffle and I think what happens in the fallout is going to really change our country.

I'm not actually mentioning the exact debate yet because I don't want to talk about politics just yet, this is a how do I do this? post.
majoline: picture of Majoline, mother of Bon Mucho in Loco Roco 2 (Default)
but bear with me anyway, please.  So I saw a link: The "redneck-blackneck" politics of the Deep South

And clicked. And it turns out it's about Johnnie DuPree. And about how depressing racial politics are.

Guys, I honestly don't have spoons right now and I'm about to go eat, but are local politics in the rest of the non-South so straightforward? Because I am highly active social butterfly (who's an empath and an introvert lol) and very much into politics and just let me say this:

None of what this article says has much to do with what is going on. Yes, there are party lines. No, they're not very racial at all. Yes, race is a big deal. No, unless you're a Tea Partier here, it's not why the average Mississippian isn't voting for DuPree.

It's not that simple. Sorry.

Thanks for a useless article, Salon.

[edit] and you can tell I was running out the door! grammar check :)

Wow, that just pissed me off. This year's Halloween torture porn fest is some guy writer and his girlfriend move to Mississippi and five rednecks kill them. >:(

Really now?

(I'm also angry the place doesn't look a damn thing like around here, but hey, that's another post)

Too angry to be coherent; shaking.
