majoline: Slytherin Badge and the text "I need money, power, and less shit from you people." (Less Shit)

Dear Mississippi DA,

Having a involuntary miscarriage is the same as derailing a train for shits and giggles? Really?

No love, Majoline

Another possible form of address would be: "Dear Mister Ambitious But Failing Wanna Be Politician".
At least, we hope they're failing.

Because miscarrying isn't painful and fraught enough, now you have to worry about being tried for fucking murder.

I swear, if they can find a way to convict us for not conceiving ("you caused the miracle of life not to happen! MURDERER!"), they'll do that too.

Plenty of those "personhood" bills are intended to do just that, by outlawing most of the methods of birth control that are contraception. They'd love to put up selected groups of women for murder trials to scare the rest into doing what they say.

That was quite the awesome segment when I saw it. However, I believe that the Maddow segment can be correct, and the sentiment about making women suffer can also be correct without contradiction, as the ignorance of the first doesn't diminish the malice of the second.

If polled, I wonder how much of the Republican base holds the same ignorance and malice combination.

Yeah, that's my worry as well - the Republicans are playing to their base rather than trying to grab that last fringe-y bit that will put them over the top in the primary races. Bad Things will surely follow.

The base will be stuck in cognitive dissonance hell, because the right politicians and three right ministers will be telling them its a sin and murder, but practical reality will demand either adoption or abortion. Maybe we'll finally see a stepping-up in that community to adopt all of the babies they're going to make come into the world. More likely however, the politicians will laugh at the plebes and use their wealth to do the things they made illegal for others.

As for those who user birth control for something other than birth control, well, No Exceptions, so it sucks to be you. Either prove your celibacy or no hormones for you.

It's all the rage to get around Roe in as many ways as possible.

Well, they believe they're the Chosen of G-d, so of course they are above the laws of men, unless those laws of men conform to the laws of G-d, as they believe them. And it's their work to make that conversion, so, yeah, angry bitter Pagans, Muslims, Jews, atheists, women, and the like, are a natural by-product, whom they will ignore, demonize, marginalize, and basically say should have no standing unless they convert.

It's very much an "ARGH." thing.

But they can only bring about a perfect paradise if everyone believes the same way they do. Don't you want your perfect paradise (which you may not achieve anyway if you're a convert or a woman, because you're still probably going to hell) all for your very own?

Lord, save us from your followers, indeed.

No, they aren't, but even good, solid major religions have to start in cult status somewhere.

(And yes, it does seem to be a chronic condition among many of the stridently evangelist that they don't actually read the book they're proof-texting from so as to find out what the context says.)

Thanks for showing me that framework. A lot of those ministers don't pass muster on it at all.

And like many cult-types, they will tell you what they claim to believe while you're a potential convert. The real stuff doesn't come it until you're well into the organization.
