At this point, having a permanent account, I am probably not going to delete everything, and there are people there who are still not moving that I want to follow, but I'm not posting there.

Hi all,

I've had this livejournal since November 2001, even have a permanent account (for definitions of permanent that needs must take into account the nature of the internet).

Given that LJ has now moved all it's servers & the like to Russia, and a great many security and other such features are now either non-functioning or acting strangely, I shall no longer be posting here. I'm not going to delete my account (yet), but will not be even attempting to cross-post from Dreamwidth.

I am on Dreamwidth, same username.

If you have a DW, I would like to continue following you! Or Wordpress (where I am jtifft). Either comment here with your DW username, or email me at jtifft at gmail.

One more thing to chalk up to the general suckitude of 2016, I guess.

(Uses my original default icon of Qui-Hedgie. Seems oddly appropriate somehow.)
Spreading the news -- this is a straight cut & paste, no interpolations of my own. (I clicked through from [personal profile] mecurtin's post here.)

Livejournal to do away with subject line in comments
FYI I did not translate this (found it on an anon comm), but I ran the original through Google translate and it's correct.

[livejournal.com profile] igrick [LiveJournal], dude in charge of lj design, has posted the following today:

New LJ. Step one: comments.

Folks, as the first step of a major design change me and Tyoma (lj user tema) were talking about we've rolled out the new comments system onto the beta-testing servers. I wanted to say "rolled out the new design" but it's really is a completely new system, not a simple design change. It's only available to beta-users for now (you can become one by joining the[info] lj_ru_beta community and enabling beta-mode here) and to journals that have default commenting design enabled (like mine does).

Better see once than read this text a hundred times, but I'm going to talk about my impressions and major changes anyway.

- new comments can be added without page reload;
- comments could be posted by pressing ctrl+enter shortcut - this is genius;
- comments no longer have Subject field and this is non-negotiable;

The rest of the post is under the cut )

Me again -- I have codes, and, no codes are needed to create an account for the rest of the year.
