3weeks4dreamwidth, I've decided to once again give hosting a little Pokémon prompt meme on this journal a go! Like the first one, it will run until May 15th. This time, I picked the Kricketot line as the mascots because I thought it'd be nice to highlight some underrated Mons, and they're definitely the creative kind!
While this prompt meme welcomes all ratings, please be over 18 to participate. You can prompt and/or fill anonymously whether or not you have a Dreamwidth account. You can also prompt and/or fill logged-in, of course!
All Pokémon subfandoms are welcome! Prompt freely for whichever version of canon you're into, no matter how obscure it is. As long as it's from the Pokémon franchise, it fits the theme.
For the sake of everyone understanding each other, and to not require people have to look things up when browsing prompts, please use English names whenever possible (whether for pokémons, humans, places, etc.), and Character/Character (/Character/etc.) or Character & Character (& Character & etc.) for ships and gen pairs (rather than -shipping names.)
Fic and art fills are welcome by default. If you'd like fills in different mediums (such as podfic, icons, meta, recs, etc.) feel free to specify in your prompt.
This should go without saying, but your fills should not involve generative AI in any shape or form.
As this is a prompt meme specifically to celebrate Dreamwidth, please keep your fills exclusive to Dreamwidth. You can crosspost them after May 15th, when the meme will be closed. If you need to host somewhere else (for art fills, for example) that is, of course, allowed, as long as it's not posted there publicly. (For example, a drafted Tumblr post is fine; a public Tumblr post is not.)

Are they following trainers around, always staying out of sight until they can retrieve their badly thrown balls? Do they get paid per ball? How do they feel about balls that get thrown in the river? Do balls get assigned a trainer's ID at the Pokemon center so it's more a case of treasure hunting for any ball you can find for sorting later? What happenns with balls lost in Hyperspace? 👀)

Date: 2026-05-02 05:27 pm (UTC)Five years after the mess with Team Flare and the Ultimate Weapon, a group of people decided to put a stop to such waste. Wrong as he was, the leader of Team Flare had a point about resources going to waste and lost Poké Balls were at the top of that list.
A collector wanders Lumiose City quietly, waiting for trainers to leave a specific area. Some balls get lost in the Wild Zones, others thrown accidentally while a trainer's reaching for something else, sometimes satchels tear and leave holes big enough for the balls to fall out. Whatever the case, they keep out of sight to avoid any weird misunderstandings and once they've gathered everything they can, wait outside their local Pokémon Center.
Sometimes it's more work than they bargained for. Today, over 40 balls went into the river and the one who can swim the best is busy in Wild Area 9 so they have to wait, biding their time until he can jump in and get them.
Other times they end up on the rooftops because flying-types or ghosts who don't want to be caught flutter away. Or there's a particularly skittish species who runs away if a trainer so much as breathes near it, so they have to aim from a distance.
And then, there are the Alpha Pokémon. Poké Ball collectors work out every morning to make sure they're flexible and fast and sharp enough to dodge even the tiniest ones, because even a single Tackle or Ember can knock a person out.
But it's always worth it. Even if it's just one, the trainers are always happy to get back their lost balls without having to pay for more. They always offer to pay the collector, though, which the collectors always decline. The city pays them, no need for the trainers to use money they could be using on other necessities or cafés or nice clothes.
Collecting Poké Balls is a challenge, and sometimes it can feel repetitive. But it's a job worth doing, and no collector will let a single ball stay lost forever.

Darkrai lifted the Black Glasses higher to examine them; their reflection stared back at them in the lenses. Darkrai looked between the item and their trainer; their trainer's own glasses were settled on the bridge of their nose, the arms reaching back around their head. Slowly, Darkrai lifted the Black Glasses up. They peered through first one lens, then the other, before settling them with the bridge right in the middle, in front of their eye. There; now they could see through both lenses, just like their trainer!
A muffled snorting noise came from their trainer, whose hands were covering their mouth and puffed-out cheeks, squinting their eyes behind their glasses. "Ah," their trainer said, sounding somewhat strained, "maybe wearing them on top of your head would be more your style..."

Poltchageist is said to have a strong tendency to repair broken objects and seal cracks with matcha powder - what if it helped humans who did this for a living, or another Poltchageist? Do they know/care if they inhabit a Counterfeit/Unremarkable or Artisan/Masterpiece caddy/chawan? Could they temporarily use another type of teaware, if theirs is broken perhaps?
I'd also be delighted by icons of these two ^^

The ocean and its beaches were teeming with life. Even underwater, there were dozens, sometimes hundreds, of wild Pokémon swimming and living among the various forms of plant life and the rocks. They generally coexisted peacefully, each living at its own pace.
A warm current brushed against Staryu’s five arms. It felt pleasant. The various corals around him served as a shield, along with the seaweed and the warm currents. The Pokémon was happy. It didn’t take much to make him happy. It was a good day for him. Just one of many in his long life on the reefs. Staryu felt his muscles relax, and if he had eyes, he would surely have closed them to better savor the moment.
The Staryu didn’t move as the water swirled around him. Company. He wasn’t bothered by the feeling of a fish Pokémon approaching him. The starfish was used to it. It didn’t hurt when he felt the other Water-type Pokémon nibble on one of his arms. He didn’t move. The Pokémon waited to be alone again so its lost limb could regrow. As if nothing had happened.
Everything was fine. It didn’t bother the Pokémon to see other Water Pokémon coming to try to eat it. The starfish was enjoying the ideal water temperature. The sun’s rays managed to pass through the water to warm the sand around it. Everything was fine. It was a beautiful day for the Staryu.
