I love the idea ! Clearly as you stated it's not finished but I love what you came up with !
waiting for the update now :)
Thank you so much ! We'll work on improving the UI soon enough and release an update in the near future with feedback from here taken into account :) we forgot a lot of stuff and didn't think about a few things too so it'll be the occasion to put those in the game ! Thank you again for your kind words and have a good day :)
My heart was pumping as I encountered two hogs in an enclosed space, I tried as hard as I could to keep calm and shoot them, for the sake of my dead squad, but ended up joining my comrades sooner than expected.. I loved it ! Nice reloading mechanics, very serious war and pretty visuals :) Good job on this game !
There was one weird thing tho when you look to the side sometimes your character rotates I guess and you end up looking somewhere completely different ? Not sure about that but either way great job ! Would love to see more of this !
Hahaha what a silly idea ! Really really great game ! Addicting even, what a great idea to add a leaderboard, I couldn't stop playing for a while but I'm happy with top 5 so I can finally rate your game lol
Great mechanics, great execution, I would say maybe the movements are slightly too slow but it might be intended, wouldn't be the same game if you could move too easily, all in all just a great game ! I can see a multiplayer for this ! I hope you add that actually ahah would be so much fun !
Great job !
Hi ! Thank you for your kind words !
We're planning on improving the game for a little while so all feedback is greatly appreciated ! We were thinking of some kind of "painting brush" to drop the windmills, would it fit what you had in mind ? Also maybe you could simply click on the windmill in the shop and then click anywhere to build as many as you want until you right click or click some other button that "resets" your mouse to a normal click. Tell us what you think :)
We don't have much time this week to think in team so we'll have to take some time later to see what we can do for upgrades and stuff like this, I was thinking of a type of worker that goes to upgrade windmills maybe ? We'll see what we agree on as a team to see where we go from here but we'll at least improve the game a little bit after the voting period ends :) Don't hesitate to come back in a while !
Also since you're French (if I'm not mistaken) I have a question for you lol
Did you have trouble reading the font ? Many people told us they had trouble with the font and we're trying to understand why exactly, to make it more readable. One hypothesis is that we (french) might have less trouble reading cursive/semi cursive writing and it could be a reason why people can't read it as easily as we can, one other reason might be also because it's not the most readable but yeah I was wondering :)
Hi ! Thank you for your nice feedback :)
You're not blind ahah the prices are not currently shown, we litteraly forgot about it ! There will be an update with most of people's feedback taken into account once the voting period ends, don't hesitate to come back at some point if you wanna see an improved version of the game :)
Quick question though, did you have trouble reading the font ? Many people told us they had trouble with the font and we're trying to understand why exactly, to make it more readable. One hypothesis is that we (french) might have less trouble reading cursive/semi cursive writing and it could be a reason why people can't read it as easily as we can, one other reason might be also because it's not the most readable but yeah I was wondering :)
I really liked your game !
Pretty art, good music, funny sound effect when you jump, really really nice !
Some things are not entirely obvious when you play like the chair, I was stuck for a minute there, didn't understand what I was supposed to do with it (I think I understood by accident) but overall great game and nice little puzzles !
The only note I would have (and I'm nitpicking) is the voice when there's a "notification" is kinda repetitive (but I found it really nice tho, sounded kind of like a sims ? I don't play the sims but it sounded like I imagine sims sound like lol)
Great game, great idea and thank you Félicette (and Django) !
This is the kind of game that makes me think "what did we do with our time on the jam ? How can their game be soooo good ???" ahah really great job, probably my favorite yet !
Really like the music, the vibe and the goal. It really hit the right spot with me, incredible job, no notes.
It made me think of games made by Mahdi Bahrami , idk if you know those ones ? Tandis mainly, even if it's different, there's this "puzzle with moving geometrical shapes" vibe that I loved with his games that I found here ! I'm for sure gonna play this a lot more, and I hope you'll add more levels to it in the future !
Have a good day, and great great job !
Sick moves from the earth !
I really like it ! Nice music and good mechanics.
I would say tho that the perfect timing to press A or D is not clear in the beginning because green is not perfect and it's yellow ? (not sure about that but I think there's a green bar when you do +8000 points and a yellow one when it's +10k?) so I would slightly change the interface to make it clearer when exactly to hit.
Other than that, I liked the (lack of) seriousness, when you reach the high score and the scene with the earth. I like the whole vibe of the game the textures/poly count etc good job on that and yeah nice game overall, would like to see more of it, maybe doing tricks and stuff like that when you press ? Anyways, really really nice game, I enjoyed each second of it !
I think you forgot to upload a file ! there's supposed to be a .pck file next to the .exe when you export on godot (except if you check the box on the option "embed PCK") and when I try to launch the game it tells me "Error couldn't load the project data at path C:/Users/myusername/Downloads Is the .pck file missing ? "
my pleasure ! music composition is hard because it's a whole different way of expression than programmation or even visual arts, so it's kinda hard when you begin, I've been learning (mostly by practicing, I've learned just a little bit of music theory) for like 2-3 years now and I still can't always do what I set my mind to, for example say I want to make a happy song, I don't always succeed in making something that sounds happy ahah but once you start and if you enjoy it, you'll have a great time and the learning curve is nice ! And then you get to enjoy your own music so that's nice.
For sound effects, I just started like a month and a half ago for our very first game jam and it was really fun, you get to think of everything around you in a different way ! Like, we had a conveyor belt in our first game (mirror mirror) and it was tricky to think of something that would make the sound of that, but I ended up using an old school coffee grinder and it works fine I think lol
those 2 are really different in some ways, even tho there are skills that can be used in both ! I still feel like i'm a beginner so I don't know if those advices are really great but that's what I think ! (Also imposter syndrome is a bitch ahah)
thank you very much ! when Cahdmus got the idea to add a decoration tab, I was afraid we were gonna spend precious time on this and in the end I think it really adds a lot to the game ! (also it didn't take that much time to add I think)
We'll try and update the game once the voting period ends, not sure about the timeframe but we will be for sure updating the game for a little while and see where we go from there ! Thank you again for you feedback :)
well actually, I went back to the game and just listened to the music, I think the loop is long enough, it's just that it's not seamless, so this might be a godot/web/file import issue, what I did in another jam to """"""fix""""" this issue was to litteraly loop the song in a software like audacity and export the project with a big-ass music file that lasts like 10mn ahah
if you still think the loop is too short, I suggest adding music sequences with less instruments at the end/beginning of the loop or to switch up some notes for a little while and go back to the original melody and loop, it's not an easy thing ahah also what you can do is just make multiple songs and shuffle them but within the timeframe of a gamejam, if you're new to music, it might be hard to do !
Addicting, chill, nice visuals and sound effects, I just wished there was a chill music on top of that ! Great game overall, slightly confusing at first but you get the gist real fast ! And now that I think about it, it might be because I don't really play yatzhee
Great job, would love to see more of this game !
No viruses here just a confusing little game :)
I'm not exactly sure what the goal is ? Like I get that getting the skull is bad, but what about the other 2 possibilities ?
I like what you did tho, just not entirely sure what I'm supposed to do ! Tell me more and I'll gladly play more and give a more thorough review :)
EDIT: I just read Eshan's review and I understand now, I played again and now that I fully understand the goal, it's more enjoyable ! The game is slightly too hard I would say but not unbeatable so this might be skill issue on my part, what you could do to improve the first experience is either add a tutorial or some text to explain which symbol does what (even though the skull is pretty obvious) or add this explaination to the itch.io game page ! Other than that, the music and sound effects are really nice, the visuals are nice too, I would say it's a bit too cluttered maybe ? And the gameplay is addictive ! It really worked on me, you did a great job ! The theme is well used and the mechanics are simple, yet engaging ! To show that you're making progress through the level, other than the number of miles/km left in the rearview mirror, you could add some stuff on the side of the road that grows bigger/closer the more we advance and then disappear behind us ! Great job on your first gamejam !
I think it's too late now but to make your game playable on web:
you have to export it for web :
Thank you so much for such a thorough review !
I'll address your points in order :
1. yeaaah the collision box for windmills might be a little off, thus blocking the worker's path and getting them stuck at different places, I thought I fixed most of it but apparently not ahah
2. they actually are supposed to go to the closest windmill but there might be bugs lol also they don't have a max range so if all workers closer to the windmill are busy, another worker will go to it, and then the timing of windmills might be too off for closer workers to take on and then there's no point in having a worker close to your windmill ! We'll make sure to fix that in a later update ! It's a bit tricky but we'll see what we can do !
3. You are absolutely right, I liked to see the workers walk and speak so I used them and laid back, but if we're talking efficiency, there's not much upside (maybe even none) to having workers, I think we were too focused on doing, doing, doing, that we forgot to think about some of those things, we will have to think about that and act accordingly to make it more efficiency-compatible (if it's the direction we wanna take, we're a group of 3 so I can't speak for everyone just yet)
No hard feelings, you gave us great feedback to make the game better in my opinion so thank you very much ! I'll try your game soon, I can't promise that i'll give such a thorough feedback but I'll do my best :) have a good day !
slightly confused in the first few throws but then, boy was I hooked ! Great job ! The controls as someone else said are the right mix of fun and frustrating, nice little game ! Great visuals, is there no sound or was it a me problem ? I had a great time anyways so it would just be a fun addition, I really like the idea and what you did with it ! Great job !
I loved it ! It's so funny to see games that used windmills too and in such different ways from each other !
Loved the visuals, sound effects, music obviously, loved the gameplay too, loved the whole game ! Kinda wished there was more to it actually !
I reaally love what you've done and I hope you can add on to this game to make it maybe a longer/endless experience ? Great job !
my oh my ! What an addictive little game !
I have just one note (I thought I had none but I remembered something) :
It's not gameplay related but I found the music loop to be slightly too short maybe ?
Anyways it's a reaaaaaally nice and addicting game. I love it ! The visuals, the music, the sounds, everything is really nice ! Great job :)
Hi ! Thank you very much :))
As you might have read in my earlier replies to other reviews, we totally forgot to show prices and will add this in a later update :)
The worker's upgrade increases their travel speed, it might not be noticeable on the first few upgrades tho, but that's another thing we should have added, explanations on a few details of the game ! We were so deep into the project that we forgot other people wouldn't know what we knew and forgot to add a few crucial things (I added the "tutorial" messages like a few minutes before uploading the game to our page ahah)
Glad that you liked our game anyways and can't wait to try yours :) This is the first time we do a gamejam with this many submissions and it's slightly overwhelming because I'd like to try every game but also really cool because there's so many of those, so many great ideas and it's always fun to see what people do with the same base theme ! Have a good day ! :)
Thank you very much for all the good things you said about our game :)
The prices not being shown was something we totally forgot to add, same as the upgrade prices, I have added them in our latest version but it's not on the itch page for now, I just fixed a few bugs in the extended period, a few game breaking ones and I didn't know if I should add the prices to that update or not, and decided to play fair and just fix bugs and not make improvements. Once the voting period is over, we'll add an update with most of the improvements/input of reviews taken into account tho !
The font clearly was an issue for a lot of people apparently, out of curiosity, was it because it's written kind of in cursive or just overall not really readable ? We'll update this too as well as adding a choice for a more conventional font for accessibility purposes !
Thank you again for your kind words, have a good one !
Thank you very much for you nice input :)
The workers getting stuck is a bug we didn't encounter while testing, could you be slightly more specific ? do you remember what kind of windmill it was ? It was the first time we used navigation agents and collisions in godot so it was rough and with more time we could have ironed out a few more bugs :)
The blades on the blue windmill is a known bug but I couldn't fix it in time so, sorry for this hehe.. I felt like it was an ok bug to leave out since it's not really breaking anything but it'll be fixed after the voting period hopefully !
Cahdmus (the illustrator) is learning how to use godot to improve the game because she really liked this project so I think it will continue being developped :)
Thank you again and have a good day :)
I wish I was better at this kind of game, but this doesn't mean I didn't enjoy myself playing it !
I love what you did with the theme, love the music and the visuals. Really like everything you did ! One thing I wasn't a fan of were the controls, maybe I should've tried switching up because you're giving us a few possibilities but I stuck with Z/X/C, I kept mixing up the keys and being bad and dying, BUT this is not my genre or predilection so it might also be on me !
Anyways, really great idea and great execution, and I forgot about this but I like the fact that the new spells come first in the "next spells" list, it makes you think wether you should recharge now or after emptying your magazine
