Angels
From the introduction of Castiel in the beginning of Season 4, Supernatural took on a much larger story arc, and with it introduced us to an assortment of angels each with unique personalities. Despite often being portrayed in a positive light and very much friendly with humankind in others forms of media, Supernatural has chosen to portray them as having the ability to be utterly ruthless.
However, there have certainly been instances of angels who go against the status quo. Castiel becomes gradually more human thanks to his interaction with Dean, Balthazar is a rogue, stealing precious artifacts and living lavishly on earth, whereas Gabriel has taken on the persona of the trickster.
