Dreamstate 2025 in Long Beach, California, became a historic moment for trance enthusiasts on November 22, 2025, as Tiësto, the legendary DJ and producer, returned to his trance roots with a monumental set. The performance fused updated versions of classic anthems with cutting-edge tracks from today’s leading trance artists, creating an experience that resonated deeply with both longtime fans and a new generation of ravers.

A Setlist Bridging Past and Present

Tiësto’s carefully curated tracklist demonstrated his mastery in blending nostalgia with innovation:

Opening with Uplift: Tiësto & FORS – Bring Me To Life and Tiësto – Lost In The Ocean immediately pulled the crowd into a euphoric state.

Modernized Classics: His 2025 remixes of Worakls – Lueur and Delerium ft. Sarah McLachlan – Silence breathed new life into timeless melodies.

Mashups and Anthems: Standouts such as Tiësto Saltwater vs. Gladys Knight (Mashup) and Tiësto vs. Billy Gillies & Betsy – Suburban Train vs. Fair captivated fans by bridging the golden era of trance with today’s sound.

Peak Energy Moments: Push – Universal Nation (Tiësto Techrave Mix) and Tiësto – Adagio For Strings closed the set with the high-energy euphoria Dreamstate is known for.

The full setlist included tracks by rising talents like DJ HEARTSTRING, Benwal, and Funk Tribu, underscoring Tiësto’s commitment to supporting the future of trance while honoring its roots.

The Health and Wellness Impact of Trance Music

Beyond its emotional resonance, Tiësto’s Dreamstate performance had measurable benefits for health and wellness. Scientific research highlights several ways trance music and dance festivals can positively impact the body and mind:

Cardiovascular Fitness: Studies in the Journal of Sports Medicine (2023) show that dancing at high BPM (beats per minute) events like trance festivals can elevate heart rates to levels comparable to moderate aerobic exercise, improving cardiovascular health.

Mood Elevation and Stress Relief: Research published in Frontiers in Psychology (2022) suggests that electronic dance music triggers dopamine release and reduces cortisol, lowering stress and increasing feelings of happiness.

Mindfulness and Flow: According to the Journal of Positive Psychology (2021), repetitive beats and immersive light shows facilitate “flow states,” enhancing focus and promoting mental well-being.

Social Connection: Collective experiences, such as dancing with thousands of like-minded fans, have been linked to increases in oxytocin, the “bonding hormone,” which strengthens social and emotional health.

An Experience of Sonic Healing

As the lights pulsed and waves of sound washed over the crowd, Tiësto’s set became more than a performance—it was a session of sonic therapy. Tracks like Elements of Life and Adagio for Strings served as both an emotional climax and a meditative reset, leaving attendees energized and uplifted.

Dreamstate 2025 proved that trance is not just music—it’s a pathway to physical vitality, mental clarity, and shared joy. And with Tiësto leading the way back to the genre that defined his early career, the future of trance feels brighter than ever.

Dreamstate Records marks a decade at the forefront of global trance culture with ‘10 Years of Dreamstate,’ a landmark 20-track compilation uniting the genre’s pioneers, modern icons, and next-generation innovators. Out November 14th, the project celebrates a decade of transcendence, capturing the evolution of one of the world’s leading trance destinations.

Since its inception, Dreamstate has championed every satellite subgenre within trance—from uplifting and progressive to hard and techno-infused—cultivating a global community devoted to the genre’s emotional and euphoric core. The compilation honors that legacy, featuring artists who have shaped Dreamstate’s festivals, concerts, and club events across the globe.

Opening the collection with a festival-defining statement, “Is This Only a Dream? (A Dreamstate Anthem) Festival Mix” by Aly & Fila and Paul van Dyk immediately sets the tone. Its soaring synths and driving 142 BPM rhythm embody the euphoric energy fans expect under the California night sky.

Nifra teams up with Sarah De Warren on “On Repeat (Extended Mix)”, a vocal trance gem that balances intensity and emotion perfectly, invoking the feeling of dancing into the early morning hours. Paul Oakenfold, a legend of the genre, brings a more classic touch with “Viola (Original Mix)”, at a slower 128 BPM, giving listeners a chance to breathe while staying in the trance flow.

The compilation also nods to the modern festival main stage with Giuseppe Ottaviani and Darren Porter’s “Keep Your Dreams Alive (Extended Mix)”, an uplifting track that encapsulates the festival’s message. Ilan Bluestone and Stoneblue carry the momentum forward with “The Land of Nanisa (Extended Mix)”, a B minor masterpiece full of emotional melodies and festival-ready drops.

Other highlights include Orjan Nilsen, Mark Sixma, and nilsix’s “Blast from the Past (Intro Mix)”, a nostalgic yet forward-driving cut, and Taylor Torrence’s “Collide (Extended Mix)”, which radiates a bright, euphoric energy. For fans of the festival’s harder edge, David Forbes and Key4050 deliver a relentless remix with “Cisza (Extended Remix)”, while Mark Sherry partners with Forbes for “This Is the Phuture (Extended Mix)”, pushing the BPM into peak-time territory.

Closing out the compilation, Jordan Suckley’s “I’ve Got The Key (Extended Mix)” and Fish56octagon’s “Let U Know (Extended Mix)” serve as late-night anthems, perfect for that final surge of adrenaline before the lights dim and the festival’s tenth year comes to a close.

Altogether, “10 Years of Dreamstate” is more than a compilation—it’s a sonic journey through the past decade of the festival, a love letter to the trance community, and an invitation to keep dreaming as the festival continues to grow.

Two of trance music’s most illustrious forces, Paul van Dyk and Aly & Fila, are inbound with their long-awaited collab “Is This Only a Dream?,” which is set to release on November 7th via Dreamstate Records. Soaring with a mirage-like euphoria, the track serves as the official Dreamstate SoCal 2025 festival anthem.

Crafted by two artists at the zenith of the uplifting trance sound, “Is This Only A Dream?” is driven by fluttering arpeggios and airy atmospherics that drift in like a whisper from an alternate timeline. Chugging rhythms and pulsing low-end move effortlessly beneath ethereal vocalizations, while the track’s rhetorical vocal hook fills the space with a cinematic wonder.

Crowned as ‘A Dreamstate Anthem,’ the single arrives in anticipation of the flagship Dreamstate SoCal festival at the Queen Mary in Long Beach at the end of the month. It’s also the centerpiece for the forthcoming '10 Years of Dreamstate' compilation, marking the brand's landmark anniversary.

Relaying their excitement around releasing the collab, Aly & Fila says, “We are very proud to collab with our good friend Paul Van Dyk and to release the Anthem for Dreamstate.”

Paul van Dyk has been the very definition of a pioneer for electronic music. Since forever changing the course of trance music with his international hit “For an Angel” in the ‘90s, the global icon has received many notable accolades and milestones. The Grammy-award-winning producer was voted the World’s No. 1 DJ in back-to-back years, and his recent album ‘This World Is Ours’ places him at 11 full-length releases to date.

Egyptian powerhouse duo Aly & Fila—composed of Fadi Wassef Naguib Aly El Sayed Amr Fathalah—are considered royalty within the trance sphere, having spent more than two decades building their ‘Future Sound of Egypt’ empire. From countless dancefloor-defining records, both as producers as well as the FSOE label heads and radio hosts, they have had a heavy hand in pushing the genre globally.

[item value="10"]Paul Van Dyk + Aly & Fila - Is This Only a Dream? (A Dreamstate Anthem)[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Paul van Dyk and Aly & Fila’s collaborative track “Is This Only a Dream?” emerges as a quintessential uplifting trance anthem, officially representing Dreamstate SoCal 2025. This 142 BPM production balances both dark and euphoric elements, characterized by thunderous kicks, rolling basslines, and luminous melodic layers. From a technical standpoint, the track showcases expert sound design: fluttering arpeggios and whispering atmospherics establish a three-dimensional spatial field, using stereo imaging to create a sense of immersion for the listener. The dynamic range has been carefully balanced, allowing the vocal hook to soar above the powerful low-end without sacrificing clarity. From a production perspective, the arrangement reflects a deep understanding of trance structure. The intro is DJ-friendly, offering clean cue points and looping potential for seamless integration into festival and club sets. Build-ups are meticulously layered with harmonic tension, transitioning into breakdowns featuring ethereal pads and reverberant vocal phrases that evoke cinematic wonder. Effects such as delays, filters, and subtle automation guide the energy flow, culminating in explosive drops that reignite the dancefloor. The outro maintains BPM consistency, ensuring easy synchronization for live performances. Scientifically, music at this tempo with repetitive melodic structures can positively influence mental health and wellness. Studies in music therapy and neuroscience suggest that trance music’s rhythmic predictability and harmonic progression can improve focus, induce flow states, and heighten feelings of euphoria (Thoma et al., 2013; Baltazar et al., 2019). Additionally, high-energy electronic tracks have been linked to increased motivation and endurance during fitness activities, as rhythmic entrainment enhances movement efficiency and syncs heart rate with musical pulse (Karageorghis & Priest, 2012). The uplifting nature of “Is This Only a Dream?” makes it suitable for wellness classes like spinning or aerobics, where the emotional lift from music fosters both physical and psychological benefits. The emotional resonance of this anthem lies in its synergy between technical precision and artistic identity. Paul van Dyk and Aly & Fila channel their signature styles into a cohesive storytelling arc, leading listeners through waves of tension and release. The track is a festival-ready journey designed to elicit both hands-in-the-air euphoria and introspective moments of bliss, leaving a lasting impression on audiences and DJs alike. #PureGold Love It [/content]
