This is a collection of discussions on the deletion and merging of articles related to Canada. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Canada|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Canada. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

WP:BLP of a child actor, not properly referenced as having any strong claim to passing WP:NACTOR. As always, actors are not automatically notable just because the article lists roles -- the notability test doesn't hinge on the list of roles per se, but on the depth and quality of the reliable sourcing that can or cannot be shown to support the article with. But this is "referenced" entirely to a deadlinked Q&A interview on a blog and a primary source directory entry, which are not support for notability, and cites absolutely no WP:GNG-building reliable source coverage whatsoever. Bearcat (talk) 14:55, 18 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Keep - per WP:NOTABILITY if a SNG is met, GNG doesn't have to be - and NACTOR is met through his roles as Mike in Mike the Knight (confirmed by Behind the Voice Actors, a WP:RS for roles) and Daniel Tiger in Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood (confirmed by TV Guide, a WP:RS for roles) - both the main characters of notable shows. Jishara (please ping upon response) (talk) 16:40, 18 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Even passage of an SNG still requires GNG-worthy sourcing to support it — people try to get themselves into Wikipedia by falsely claiming to pass an SNG that they don't actually pass in reality all the time, so it's not the assertion to passing an SNG that passes the SNG, but the quality and reliability of the sourcing that can be shown to properly verify that the person passes GNG on the quality and depth of third-party coverage they received about the purportedly SNG-passing work.
There is absolutely nothing that can ever be claimed about anybody that would ever be accepted as being so "inherently" notable that the person was exempted from having to pass GNG — SNGs do not exempt people from having to have GNG-worthy reliable sourcing, they merely clarify what counts as a valid notability claim if it's supported by GNG-worthy reliable sourcing. Absolutely no acting role in any film or television series ever exempts an actor from GNG at all — even if they played the title character, they still have to pass GNG on their sourcing regardless. It's the depth and quality of GNG-worthy coverage that an actor has or hasn't received about them and their performances in reliable sources, not the use of directory entries as cursory verification that the roles were had, that establishes whether an actor passes NACTOR or not.
You don't need as much GNG-worthy sourcing to pass an SNG as you would need to satisfy the "doesn't really pass any SNGs but is still notable anyway just because media coverage exists" test — but even passage of an SNG still requires evidence of GNG-worthy sourceability, and is not locked in by merely asserting passage of the SNG at all. This is simply a collaboration project between two artists and lacks notability in its own right. They have two singles, only one of which uses the name Rezzmau5. Can easily be summed up in each of the individual artists' pages. Cubnorth (talk) 22:45, 17 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Keep. Seems to meet WP:BAND #6 (Is an ensemble that contains two or more independently notable musicians [...]), and the act is/was promoted as Rezzmau5 at music festivals , . TonySt  23:24, 17 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Keep. Should note two things:
1, I'm the creator of the article, so my comment is inherently a little biased here, but I do agree with the above comment.
2, Should also be noted the nominator here previously proposed the article for deletion back in March. After contesting that prod, another editor and myself both improved the article + expanded it by about 4K bytes throughout March and April. Nominator's prod rationale was: "This is just a name used for one collaboration, it is not notable enough to warrant a standalone article". That rationale doesn't seem too different than the one used in this AfD nom, but it seems the aforementioned improvements + expansion were glossed over? Regardless, those further edits, in conjunction with the WP:BAND #6 criteria met above, are my reasoning for keep here. Soulbust (talk) 05:13, 20 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Frankly I forgot about that. But I still don't see anything in the article that makes this group notable in its own right. Most of the sources that mention REZZMAU5 save for a couple are just festival lineups. Plenty of artists perform B2B under a joint name at festivals (Gud Vibrations, ISOKNOCK, just to name a couple). This feels like a Wikipedia:BADFORK when the information can be easily included in the Rezz and deadmau5 pages. Cubnorth (talk) 11:48, 20 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I mean then I would just argue that Gud Vibrations and ISOKNOCK deserve their own articles, if the sourcing's out there. Article was pretty considerably expanded since your previous prod, including adding some good sourcing. Thing is the festival lineup sources are icing as far as the referencing goes, because all Rezzmau5 needs is that "save for a couple" to meet WP:BAND #6 (as mentioned above), and also WP:BASIC. Soulbust (talk) 00:00, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Just because the article has been expanded doesn't mean I think the topic has gained any more notability. Large amounts of it (in my opinion) are unnecessary filler, information about the two artists individually, or excessive quotations. At the end of the day, there's still only one single with the REZZMAU5 name; it feels more like simply a joint name than a unique supergroup, and I don't think it meets general notability guidelines as a topic. Most likely an AI-generated autobiography that did not go through AfC.

Created in January 2026 as User:Bidy1975 in Diff/1333715158 with no references, multiple WP:AILIST, WP:AIBOLD and some WP:AILEGACY. Then faux-inline references were added in Diff/1334030965 and Diff/1334034383, none of which seem to establish much notability other than showing that he is on some editorial boards. One is his CV, which had already been linked previously when a bunch of external links were added. There is WP:AITREND and WP:SUPERFICIAL analysis in Diff/1334034383, and undue emphasis on importance (form of AILEGACY) in Diff/1334044275, Diff/1334044777, and Diff/1334045416. The statement in Diff/1334045841 that he received his Ph.D. ... under the supervision of ... Asim Kis is sourced to his CV and somehow fails verification, because the CV doesn't say who supervised his Ph.D. (but lists a "Visva Bharati" in parenthesis).

The user then attempted to move it directly into article space, but this was disallowed by an edit filter in AbuseLog/43230736 that prevented moving their userpage into article space. Then in August 2026, the page was then moved to Draft:Bidyut SahaDraft:Bidyut Saha in Diff/1368447618 (after being again prevented in AbuseLog/44836664 from moving it directly to article space). From there the page was then unilaterally moved to article space in Diff/1369493188 without being submitted to AfC first. gurkubondinn 15:19, 16 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Disputed drafification; WP:DRAFTOBJECT applies. The references prove that this org exists, but not that it has any notability. It has to pass WP:NCORP and it does not. What is not in dispute is that does a good and useful job. The problem is lack of notability; notability is neither asserted nor verified. • Draftify with instructions only to move to article space by AFC, not unilaterally. This article was first submitted to AFC and declined. It was then unilaterally moved back to article space, and was then unilaterally moved back to draft space by User:Athanelar. Analysis of sources shows that the sources are mostly not independent, and some of them are passing mentions of this umbrella organization because they are about its participants, so the draftification was correct.

This is a two sentence article which has no encyclopedic value. Despite the fact that this article has existed for over five years, there is no indication that it will ever be expanded beyond the most minimal stub. No other judge of the same court has an article. Notability is questionable. Subject is an Instagram account (or multiple affiliated Instagram accounts) aggregating community-submitted content on the topic of Canadian campus life. There is SIGCOV of this subject in RS but I feel it's borderline. I'm also a little fuzzy on how much student media contributes to notability (I read this discussion and I think the consensus only affects subjects that are definitely affiliated with the university but some seem to be speaking more generally, I didn't trust my read on it)

This is all the secondary sourcing I could find on the subject:

Two student newspapers discussing the subject in detail:

CBC coverage of incidents on one campus blamed on this Instagram account:

Another CBC, but the subject is mentioned in passing/as an example:

Pretty weak bio that seems to be an excuse to republish some of their Instagram posts:

This is pretty borderline so I'll withdraw nom if others feel confident that it meets notability standards, I just didn't want to waste time improving the article if it was inevitable that it would get deleted at some point (since the last coverage was in 2022, not sure if this subject is going to attract more media attention anytime soon). purringmaggot (talk) 18:41, 15 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I agree it's borderline. There is enough coverage about incidents, but the connection to the account is tenuous. The website has shut down and the account has been made private, so there won't be any more coverage. Website archives are incomplete, so I can't tell what this was. Party whip (Canada) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

This article has 2 primary sources and appears to fail WP:GNG. Chief Opposition Whip (Canada) was a long-standing redirect to Party whip (Canada), but that also likely fails WP:GNG. As it stands right now, the Chief Opposition Whip (Canada) article is mostly a list, which I modeled off of the UK whip articles (Chief Whip of the Conservative Party, Chief Whip of the Labour Party, Chief Whip of the Liberal Democrats, Ulster Unionist Chief Whip. The Party whip (Canada) article already has a list of government whips. At the very least if this discussion finds that Chief Opposition Whip (Canada) is not notable enough, its list of opposition whips should be added to the Party whip (Canada) article. That said, I don't agree that this position isn't notable. RedBlueGreen93 16:21, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Merge with Party whip (Canada) article. It seems like both are being nominated for deletion. Based on the fact that other countries like Bangladesh, India, and Australia get articles on their whip I would agree it's hard to see the argument that it's not notable. It's also one of the most important jobs in the chamber. However, this article with only two primary sources and nothing else can't be allowed to stay but a section should be added to the Party whip article to bolster it. Delete I am the IP editor who originally recommended this article for deletion. I thought a source assessment table might more clearly demonstrate the lack of notability or stimulate discussion. Of the 12 sources, 8 are brief mentions in news articles where the subject was consulted on the topic of human trafficking, 3 are press releases from the subject's employer, and 1 is a press release from the government about an award they received. Two of the press releases duplicate information available in the other sources, and the third press release appears to have no direct reference to the subject at all but is about their employer's work.

Lillestrom, Saskatchewan (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

It was suggested that this be discussed, and so here we are. The CGNDB describes this as a "locality", so that doesn't get us very far; the cited passage in the placenames book doesn't agree with the text of the article. It's not even clear that it's talking about the same place, given that there's no sign that there was ever a rail line through this area. A "locality" absolutely fails to pass WP:GEOLAND, so we need something here to convince us that the lack of a settlement on GMaps is what should rule here. • Delete as the one who proposed discussing this place. This one isn't as much of a slam-dunk as Orland, Saskatchewan, due to the place-names book. But that by itself isn't enough and I can't find anything else. If this really was a settled place once then there should be more out there, and I'm open to changing my mind if sources can be found. Also, this is the place in the book. The remains of the rail line are visible cutting through the marshy area to the west of the coordinates, in the satellite photos. OK, now I see the old RR grade. Mangoe (talk) 14:29, 30 July 2026 (UTC)reply
  • Keep: Seems rather pointy. Has an entry in the CGNDB, appears in at least one book, many other hits on Google Books, passes NPLACE easily. MediaKyle (talk) 11:44, 30 July 2026 (UTC)reply
Simply appearing in an national gazetteer is not enough: even ignoring classification errors (and we don't have enough experience with the CGNDB to assess that), this isn't classified as a settlement there, so it's good for the name and location, and that's it. These listing include all sorts of places we wouldn't consider notable. And placename books are a spotty resource, and again, we don't have a lot of experience with this one; but it doesn't come out and say it was anything but a stop on the railroad with a post office. Also, I must reiterate, neither source states the chief claim for the nature of the place as given in the article. Mangoe (talk) 14:28, 30 July 2026 (UTC)reply
You seem to have taken exception to my statement in the other AfD. I do have enough experience with the CGNDB to know that it does not suffer any of the same problems as GNIS, and inclusion in the CGNDB satisfies the "legal recognition" part of NPLACE. Lillestrom is clearly populated, and has been populated for over 100 years based on what I'm seeing on Newspapers.com... If the article content is wrong, then the article needs to be edited, not deleted. In any case, even if we had literally nothing to say about this place, it does exist, so the solution in this case would be to redirect it to the community or municipality it is apart of. In this case, the target would be Rural Municipality of Hillsborough No. 132. I think we have enough to retain it as a standalone article, though. MediaKyle (talk) 14:45, 30 July 2026 (UTC)reply
I feel I must continue to reserve judgement on the "legal recognition" thing, but how many times do I have to point out that even if the classification given in CNGDB is authoritative, it defines the place as a "locality", which is not something that passes muster under WP:GEOLAND. And no, I long ago set aside the "wrong is not a reason to delete," because a false article is worse than no article at all. If you have all these sources, then edit the article and correct it, or cite what it says. And if you can fix its problems, I'll be happy to change my response here. But until then, no. Mangoe (talk) 15:51, 30 July 2026 (UTC)reply
What, precisely, do you think a locality is? Because it varies by province... In Nova Scotia, localities are a smaller area, sometimes with and sometimes without legally defined boundaries, included within the boundary of an unincorporated community. There are some localities which are independently notable, and some which redirect to the community they are apart of. For Saskatchewan, I'm less sure, but "locality" in this case seems to be closer to "unincorporated community"... There's only three "localities" within the Rural Municipality of Hillsborough No. 132, and they don't appear to be apart of other communities. I guess I'll go ahead and make a few edits to the article... MediaKyle (talk) 16:07, 30 July 2026 (UTC)reply
"Locality" is what we in the day called a lengthy Latinate locution for 'region" or "area"; M-W just gives it as a synonym for place or location. I believe GNIS uses "locale". If it has some legal definition in Canada, I don't think that's going to make it automatically a notable place; and if what you give is the definition, that's not going to move me. It makes it sound like a neighborhood for some area that as a name, but which isn't a town or such unto itself. Mangoe (talk) 11:40, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I propose merging to 2027 Women's Baseball World Cup because the topic is covered in the main article and there's no reason for a stand-alone article without a lot of coverage and with mostly repeated information. Mariamneireach out 🕊️ 13:34, 27 July 2026 (UTC)reply
