Hi GA-RT-22. Thanks for your edit and message. I tried adding a link to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zx06XNfDvk0 but that link was disallowed. The irregular rhythm is a slight extension between beats in the song at 2:04 and 2:47. Can you hear it? I guess some observations for example "The zebra is a quadruped" at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadrupedalism are less in need of a reference. Wonder if you can fix this minor goof? The article states, “William Shelley, a foreman at the depository, also testified that he saw Oswald making a phone call on the first floor”. Discovered another minor goof: the article says that Oswald told Holmes he was “working on an upper floor when the shooting occurred, then went downstairs”. Looking though Harry Holmes testimony, especially on page 306, it is clear what Holmes meant where Oswald said he encountered the officer:

...as I started to go out and see what it was all about, a police officer stopped me just before I got to the front door, and started to ask me some questions... Mr. BELIN. By the way, where did this policeman stop him when he was coming down the stairs at the Book Depository on the day of the shooting? Mr. HOLMES. He said it was in the vestibule. Mr. BELIN. He said he was in the vestibule? Mr. HOLMES. Or approaching the door to the vestibule. He was just coming, apparently, and I have never been in there myself. Apparently there is two sets of doors, and he had come out to this front part. Mr. BELIN. Did he state it was on what floor? Mr. HOLMES. First floor. The front entrance to the first floor. Mr. BELIN. Did he say anything about a Coca Cola or anything like that, if you remember? Mr. HOLMES. Seems like he said he was drinking a Coca Cola, standing there by the Coca Cola machine drinking a Coca Cola.

Based on this, I think the paragraph regarding Holmes on the “Police interrogation” section should be reflected to say “Holmes (who attended the interrogation at the invitation of Captain Will Fritz) said that Oswald replied that he was at the “front entrance to the first floor” when he encountered a policeman.” 213.104.125.141 (talk) 08:02, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

Could you rewrite Holmes saying Oswald’s encounter took place at the first floor entrance?

The Jack Ruby article in the “killing of Oswald” section, reads, “Oswald made a cry of anguish and his manacled hands clutched at his abdomen as he writhed with pain, and he slumped to the concrete paving, where he moaned several times. A moaning Oswald was carried back into the basement level jail office. He lost consciousness shortly thereafter.” This could be added within the Oswald article, in the paragraph of the "murder" section, worded something along the lines of:

At 11:21 a.m. CST, Dallas nightclub operator Jack Ruby approached Oswald from the side of the crowd and shot him once in the abdomen at close range. Oswald made a cry of anguish and his manacled hands clutched at his abdomen as he writhed with pain, and he slumped to the concrete paving, where he moaned several times. A moaning Oswald was carried back into the basement level jail office. He lost consciousness shortly thereafter.

In addition, the paragraph about the police detective (identified as Billy Combest on the Jack Ruby article) who shouted an expletive as Ruby shot Oswald could be removed as this fits more appropriately on Ruby’s article and doesn’t connect with Oswald himself. Billy Combest’s testimony to Oswald shaking his head in one last declaration before he lost consciousness on the Jack Ruby article also fits more on LHO article than JR. The Ruby article even says “point blank range” rather than “close range”. Could this be another change as well, or does it depend on experts’ determination of the bullet range? The muzzle flash from Ruby’s pistol burned Oswald's sweater, from what I read.217.137.41.147 (talk) 08:13, 29 October 2021 (UTC)

I think Oswald’s reaction at the midnight press conference as written by Bugliosi is pertininent, and WP:NPOV requires that we present various sides of a story, if there are good sources. Bugliosi is an excellent source, and I see no problems with his book cited in the “Arrest at the Texas Theatre” lines, like how it is cited in the “interrogation” section.

The sentence that could be rewritten is this:

“Later, at an arranged press meeting, a reporter asked, "Did you kill the President?" and Oswald – who by that time had been advised of the charge of murdering Tippit, but had not yet been arraigned in Kennedy's death – answered, his voice breaking, "No, I have not been charged with that. In fact, nobody has said that to me yet. The first thing I heard about it was when the newspaper reporters in the hall asked me that question." A reporter informed Oswald that he had been charged. Oswald reacted with a look of dismay.

This could be added within the Oswald article, under the last paragraph of the "Other investigations and dissenting theories" section, worded something along the lines of:

Some researchers have theorised that a man seen standing on the Depository front steps in films during the assassination, called the "prayer man", was Oswald, saying that original reports indicate Oswald “went outside to watch P. The Herve Villachaize recording was never released by LAPD. A simple google search will tell you there is no recording to be found on the internet. It's nautical nonsense, as Spongebob would say. Like calling ships "she". I wouldn't call the singer "The Taylor Swift", she's just "Taylor Swift". Same with ships. Gilley's Dallas

Hello, GA-RT-22,

It's important that every time you tag a page for any type of deletion (CSD, PROD or AFD/RFD/MFD/etc.), you post a notification on the talk page of the page creator. This is especially important with Proposed deletion because there may be ways of addressing the deletion rationale before the week-long period is over. Most editors handle these notifications by using Twinkle to tag pages for deletion. It's an editing tool that helps with so many processes, it basically remembers templates so that editors don't have to or go to search to see what templates to use for warning editors or setting up deletion discussions or reporting editors to noticeboards. You just need to set up your Twinkle Preferences to "Notify page creator" and then when you tag a page for deletion, Twinkle will post these notices on your behalf. Twinkle will even maintain deletion logs for you if you want to keep track of what's happened to articles you've tagged for deletion. I encourage you to give it a try. Thank you. Liz ^{Read! The article is about OceanGate, so it's not necessary to repeat the name of the company in the caption. I see now that we never say he was the CEO, so that should be added, but it should go somewhere in the History section, not in the caption. Please discuss this on the article talk page. WWJ-TV: in Detroit vs. not

I understand the rationale for Special:Diff/1195760959, but I will tell you why the article is written that way: it is the station's city of license. I changed this to "licensed to", which I feel to be a bit too jargony for the lead of an FA, for now.

Unlike most businesses, broadcast stations in the U.S. (and some other countries) are identified with certain communities not by the location of their physical plant (studios or transmitter) but by a formal community of license designation. Legally and in station IDs, the station is licensed to Detroit, though its facilities may be elsewhere. Sometimes, the inverse happens: a station is licensed to a nearby suburb and has its studios and/or transmitter in the largest city in the area (e.g. KCPQ, which has not had studios in Tacoma, Washington, since 1997, or KPNX, which has not had studios in Mesa, Arizona, since 1953 or so).

Ever since the abolition of the FCC's main studio rule, some stations—primarily minor broadcasters of satellite-fed national commercial or religious programming—do not have a studio facility in the area where they broadcast. WPXG-TV (covered in WBPX-TV) is a good example. Its transmitter is in Epsom, New Hampshire. Its city of license is Concord, New Hampshire. Its main studio on paper? 312 Walnut Street, Suite 2800, Cincinnati, Ohio. Yet calling WPXG-TV, or WBPX-TV, or any Ion Media station a "Cincinnati station" would be contrary to anyone's expectations. Gilley's Urban Cowboy Band - Deletion of major industry awards

Hi, there...thanks for your message about how to "talk" about deletions vs. revisions on here. For Gilley's Urban Cowboy Band, I was simply trying to add back in their GRAMMY and ACM Band of the Year. The last time the page was updated, I believe those were linked with this reliable info that you deleted:

....... Gilley's Urban Cowboy Band is Mickey Gilley's band, featured in the movie The Urban Cowboy. In 1981, The Urban Cowboy Band won its first and only Grammy for [https://www.grammy.com/artists/gilleys-urban-cowboy-band/8226 "Best Country Instrumental Performance]." I did not know how to add the citation back without reverting to the above version. I am not interested in linking references correctly on Wikipedia as a hobby; I just thought it was odd that you removed a GRAMMY and an ACM award.

I would bet you a Dr. Pepper that Wikipedia itself has the UCB listed under the 1981 GRAMMY winners, but however it needs to be linked, I think that may have been more constructive for you to have linked more appropriately than deleting the revision referenced above. I fail to see how the Recording Academy's website is not a reliable source.

• The confusing Catch 22 is that you deleted the reference links when you deleted the awards, from what I see.

Adding references correctly on Wikipedia is not a hobby. It is an essential part of the way we work. See WP:V. If you are not interested in proper referencing, you should not be editing here, and you will eventually be blocked.

I did not add the original info. The history page shows "Cydebot" added references to that GRAMMY in 2015.

Introduction to contentious topics
