Sarah touched one of the switches. "What's this do, Doctor?"
She hoped for a simple explanation, but was again denied.

"Quite easy, Sarah." the Doctor said pleasantly. "It sends an electrical signal down the wires and into this transparent globe which then reacts with the gases inside and causes the filament to glow, throwing off small amounts of harmless radiation in the form of light."

It was so hard to understand the Doctor sometimes. Sarah nodded, pretending she did, then it hit her. "So it turns the lights on?"

The Doctor blinked. "I thought I just said that."
