Feelings. Possibly even "feels".
Oct. 19th, 2012 01:46 pmI'm having a rather unsuccessful day - a rather horrible week to be honest -- so over lunch I couldn't resist catching just the very beginning of the new Person of Interest, which has been the one thing I've been looking forward to, despite suspecting that after all the Big Emotions of the series opening, it would settle back to procedural business as usual this week.
How wrong I was. IN THE FIRST MINUTES. SO MANY FEELINGS.
John being in the library early, in shirtsleeves, trying to find information on Root using Finch's computer, and then Finch comes in and he immediately closes the window and stands up, and they just look at each other awkwardly for a bit, and finally he says, all soft-voiced, "Harold..."
"Something you want to say to me, Mr. Reese?" Finch says, prickly.
"Just if you ever want to..."
"No, I don't want to talk about it."
"I was going to say, if you ever want to grab a beer. Let me know." And there's this little uncertain smile. And then trying to convince Finch that he should let the dog stay because "Bear's friendly" but "if anyone ever tries to mess with you, he'll eat them", which isn't a subtle metaphor at all. And Reese got the new number this time! He's so gentle throughout this whole scene, and if I'd written it it would have seemed OTT, you know? Plus, yay, continuity.
Also, there's this video interview with the whole cast, which is bound to cheer anyone up. "I hope this goes viral, for your sake."
And now back to work.
