Program Notes

Album Leaf, a separate composition in smaller form [than Wagner's operas] contains much of the poignancy, warmth and intensity that is characteristic of Wagner's music. Clair John has adroitly captured the spirit of this melodic miniature and carefully transcribed it for the present-day concert band.

- Program Note from score

Wagner wrote three works with titles in German that might translate to Album Leaf: Albumblatt für Ernst Benedikt Kietz: Lied ohne Worte, WWV 64 (1840); In das Album der Fürstin M. [Metternich], WWV 94 (1861); and Albumblatt für Frau Betty Schott, WWV 108 (1875)
