out of all the replies this is the one I think about the most. wtf did wilbur do
it's SO important to spend lots and lots of time on shit that no one cares about but you and does not enhance your life in any way
not only does "o brother where art thou" give you an an all-time odysseus but it actually did "our age of bronze is collapsing" two decades before nolan too
like i just don't think we needed another american actor to odysseus after this. i think he pretty much nailed it (odyssseusing)
secretary birds look pretty normal but for some reason people have collectively decided to photograph them like they're [takes a moment to find an acceptable way to say this] women
<-normal bird photography | typically reserved for pin-up posters ->
sometimes I regret having "USA" in my filtered terms because I just clicked on a filtered post out of curiosity and it was about rehoming a polyamorous peacock. in my endeavour to spare myself from a constant barrage of US politics I am missing out on Peacock Polycule Drama. a sad day indeed
I translated the Ea-Nasir complaint into vulcan and engraved it in on a cooper plate
The tumblrest sentence I have ever seen
And, irrigation canals.
Saves 82% of water evaporation. 💧
Actually do cover our fields.
Solar doesn't compete with agriculture, and can be beneficial to it.
Just also cover our car parks.
Especially with summers getting hotter and dryer in a lot of places, solar panels in agricultural fields is a really good idea. Sheltering vegetables from the hottest, driest time of the day will help them grow better. Cows and sheep and such seek out shelter from the sun. I think I recall reading that they found higher biodiversity in pastures that had solar panels because of the shelter they provide.
There’s this one very wealthy lady whose eccentric inheritance rule was that the Christian charity she donated to HAD to put a water slide in every youth center. And therefore all the centers do actually have great water slides for an audience of usually extremely impoverished families. And when I worked on a research study about kids’ spiritual development, I asked like 25 different kids focus group questions about God and the water slides came up constantly. Mostly that God helped them find the courage to go down the slide. I have learned a lesson about what God wants in terms of water slide construction. I may yet become the Noah of water parks.
There's an open pit in the middle of our office plan that drops down into a bunch of very sharp spikes that kill you instantly. This is bad. People keep falling in there and dying. Someone put a sign up, the other day, all bright yellow so you can't miss it, that says "Beware!!! Spikes!!!"
The office immediately split into two factions over it. One says that if anyone falls in the spike pit it's their own fault for being so stupid and not watching where they're walking, so we should remove the sign. The other says that the sign is an insult, there shouldn't be a spike pit in our office at all, and having the sign up like that is just normalising the existence of the spike pit, so we should remove the sign.
We ended up removing the sign. Probably for the better. Still... for a while there it looked like it might have worked...
Nobody has ever been capable of writing a scathingly harsh and well formulated satire about the perils of modern capitalism, that doesn't just get immediately one-upped by some random food service worker talking about their actual week.

I got rid of em for ya
missed one. rookie mistake honestly
