Myron is a scientist working at the Stables for the Mordinos and a potential companion in Fallout 2.
Background[edit]
Myron is a 19 year old "pasty-faced teenager" with greasy hair and a faint smell of formaldehyde,[2] as well as a "weasely, know-it-all attitude."[3][Pub 1] Myron works in a lab at the Stables with its lead researcher, Marjorie Reed.[4][5] Myron was responsible for laying the groundwork for the creation of Jet, a highly-addictive methamphetamine.[6] At the Stables, he also experiments with creating new drugs and new forms of Jet.[7][8][9][10][11]
Jet[edit]
Prior to the creation of Jet, the Mordinos had been farming Peyote Cactus to sell to tourists as the "Reno experience."[12] When Myron joined the Mordinos, they provided him with a lab at the Stables[13] to produce a drug that the miners in Redding could easily become addicted to, in order to control the town.[14] Coca plants and opium poppies, or "veggie extracts," were experimented with initially before it was determined that the climate following the Great War rendered them impossible to grow.[15][16] They moved onto shrooms as a testbed,[16] as "hallucinogens [had] low overhead" and could be grown with enough Brahmin manure.[17][18]
Myron tested derivatives of lysergic acid diethylamide and psilocybin,[18] though states that he wanted it to be a "hard-hitter" that did not rely on veggie extracts.[19] After experimenting with shrooms, it was discovered that the fumes from the Brahmin manure in the fertilizer vats caused the slaves to become high.[19][20] This was due to a protein extract that Pre-War meat companies were testing.[21] However, the extract was dropped, as it was discovered that skin bacteria easily contaminated it, making it act as an amphetamine when ingested.[21][22] As a result, much of the contaminated extracts were fed to the Pre-War cows, causing the fumes from the Brahmin manure to act as an amphetamine.[19][23]
Following this discovery, about a hundred slaves were tested to refine the Jet formula, with most passing away from heart attacks, cerebral hemorrhages and psychotic episodes.[24][25] Myron states that the Mordinos don't give him the "R-E-S-P-E-C-T," instead telling him to "shut up" or to "go back to the lab." He is able to create Antidote, Stimpaks and Super Stimpaks for the Chosen One if given the proper materials.
Endings[edit]
If Myron was spoken to, an ending slide for Myron mentions that he was stabbed to death by a Jet addict less than a year after the defeat of the Enclave, while he was drinking at a bar in the Den. His discovery of Jet was "quickly forgotten," with no one remembering his name.[26]

Notes[edit]
- A charismatic female (or Porn Star) will change his dialogue tree to a sexual tone with the Chosen One.
- If the Chosen One is female and has an INT score of less than 4, Myron will offer a drink spiked with drugs in their initial meeting. Accepting with an END score of 5 or less will result in the Chosen One falling unconscious; upon waking, their sex counter will have increased by one. Accepting with an END score of 6 or higher will result in Myron complaining that the drugs were ineffective and dismissing the Chosen One. This dialogue can only happen before he is recruited as a party member.
- Even if he dies during the game, he will always have the same ending.
- In New Reno's Shark Club, the comedian there will eventually start making fun of Myron.
- Killing him does not result in the Childkiller reputation, instead it does grant +5 Karma.
- John Cassidy expresses disgust towards Myron.
- If the Chosen One's party is full, Myron will refuse to travel with them. If Marcus is in the party, he will say that he "doesn't hang with mutant trash," then add, to Marcus, "ah-heh, no offense, big guy."
- If the Chosen One makes him wait and develops temporarily lower Charisma due to chem usage, he will refuse to join the party again until stats return.
- If the Chosen One comes to the Stables by car, Myron will comment on it.
Quotes[edit]
- "Okay, okay! I'll wait here! Phew. You could show me a little more respect, you know. I am MYRON."

- "By putting tons of brahmin shit in the vats, we found out that the fumes give more than enough of a kick. Eureka. Literally. 'Course, we had to test to get the mix right'"

- "What the hell are you talking about?"

- "So you finally wise up, beautiful? Finally realize that I'm the only one for you?"

- "Guards ain't worth the chips you pay for 'em...well, my retarded friend, we've been introduced, so why don't you GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE NOW!"

Appearances[edit]
Myron appears in Fallout 2.
Behind the Scenes[edit]
- Myron's voice actor is Jason Marsden, who later also voiced Craig Boone in Fallout: New Vegas.
- Myron was the first character that Chris Avellone ever designed, and one of his favorites overall.[Dev 1] He also mentioned that he had to cut some dialogue and scenes with Myron that he and QA deemed were too much for the game.[Ext 1]
- A community member has submitted an Easter Egg on this topic: Myron mentions D&D, which is the real world Dungeons & Dragons, a tabletop roleplaying game.[27]
