ACQ 0010: Welcome to Defense Acquisition
This course provides a strategic overview of the DoW acquisition system. It provides an introduction to the acquisition workforce, DoW decision support systems, and Adaptive Acquisition Framework (AAF) pathways. This course is designed for individuals with little or no experience in DoW acquisition management and has proven to be very useful to personnel in headquarters, program management, and functional or support offices.
ACQ 0030: Overview of Acquisition Ethics
This course reinforces important legal and ethics standards governing interactions between Government and DoW contractor personnel. Areas of concentration include gifts from contractors, reporting program information, procurement sensitive and other non-public information, the Procurement Integrity Act, seeking employment and post-Government employment restrictions, and ethical problems that can arise when both Government and contractor personnel work on common goals as a single team. In this training professionals will make ethical choices when confronted with an ethical dilemma.
ACQ 0061: Independent Government Cost Estimate (IGCE) for Services Acquisition
This course addresses cost estimates. Cost estimates are necessary for government acquisition programs for many reasons: to support decisions about funding one program over another, to develop annual budget requests, to evaluate resource requirements at key decision points, and to develop performance measurement baselines. Moreover, having a realistic estimate of projected costs makes for effective resource allocation, and it increases the probability of a program's success.
ACQ 0130: Urgent Capability Acquisition
This course provides the learner with the ability to attain a comprehensive understanding of the Urgent Capabilities Acquisition (UCA) pathway and its role in the Warfighting Acquisition System (WAS). The UCA Pathway enables the DoW to speed new technologies to warfighters more quickly than traditional acquisition programs, helping the U.S. military to maintain its competitive advantage. During this course you will learn about the UCA Pathway, focusing on the key phases, stakeholder roles and responsibilities, risk management, reporting requirements and decision-making processes necessary for successful urgent acquisitions. Included are some real-world scenario videos to showcase the application of the key concepts in the UCA pathway phases.
ACQ 0150: Middle Tier of Acquisition
This course provides an understanding of the Middle Tier of Acquisition (MTA) and its role in the Warfighting Acquisition System (WAS). The MTA Pathway enables the DoW to speed new technologies to warfighters more quickly than traditional acquisition programs, helping the U.S. military to maintain its competitive advantage. During this course you will learn about MTA; its related policies, provisions, and procedures; and the requirements for implementing MTA.
ACQ 0200: Item Unique Identification (IUID)
This course provides workforce members with an introduction to item unique identification (IUID), which is a system and methodology for applying a permanent, globally unique item identifier (UII) to DoW assets that meet one or more specific conditions. Course coverage includes basic tenets, contracting for IUID, deciding on what/when/how to mark, ensuring mark quality, and using the mark for serialized item management (SIM) and other purposes.
ACQ 0310: Improved Statement of Work
This course focuses on how to improve the preparation, quality, and focus of the Statement of Work (SOW) as used to acquire the optimum performance and/or services as needed for successful outcomes for mission accomplishment. This includes the Statement of Objectives (SOO), and the Performance Work Statement (PWS). The purpose, preparation and evaluation strategies are identified for the SOO, SOW and PWS. The course covers the roles and responsibilities of the key players in the requirements generation process. It speaks to how the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is used as a guide for SOO/SOW preparation. This includes how evaluation factors in the (RFP) are utilized during the source selection process to identify technical requirements.
ACQ 0490: Procurement Fraud Indicators
This course provides an awareness of procurement fraud indicators. This course was developed as a result of a department-wide review of vulnerabilities to fraud, waste and abuse in contracting integrity, as directed by Congress. The module is intended for those responsible for the acquisition actions within the DoW community.
ACQ 0500: Acquisition Policy: NDAA and DoD 5000
This course covers the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and DoW 5000 series and how these two policies impact acquisitions across the DoW.
ACQ 0590: Small Business Basics for the Acquisition Workforce
This course is designed to provide students in the Warfighting Acquisition Workforce (WAW) that support the efforts of Small Business Professionals (SBPs), such as Contracting Officers, Contract Specialists, Program Managers, and other members of the WAW that are not SBPs that need a basic familiarity with the Small Business Administration (SBA), SBA programs, the Department of War’s Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP) and its programs, and how those programs enhance the Defense Industrial Base and support DoW acquisitions.
ACQ 0690: APEX Accelerators Awareness Training
This course provides a general awareness of the APEX Accelerators and how they benefit the Government. After completion you will be aware of how APEX Accelerators serve the Government during the acquisition process and consists of four modules.
ACQ 0710: Foundations of Data
This course is the introductory course to the Intellectual Property and Data Rights series. As required per DoWI 5010.44, each DoW program will have a robust IP strategy to identify and manage the full spectrum of IP and related matters from the inception of a program and updated throughout entire product life cycle. Foundations of Data provides a foundational understanding of data, technical data and computer software, and introduces an approach to developing an Intellectual Property Strategy.
ACQ 0720: Intellectual Property and Data Rights
This course is the second course in the Intellectual Property and Data Rights series. As required per DoWI 5010.44, each DoW program will have a robust Intellectual Property (IP) strategy to identify and manage the full spectrum of IP and related matters from the inception of a program and updated throughout entire product life cycle. The Intellectual Property and Data Rights course provides a foundational understanding of what is IP, the impact of IP on the DoW, and the unique licensing aspects the DoW may use for IP.
ACQ 0730: Create and/or Update an RFP
This course introduces the Request for Proposal (RFP), a document used in negotiated acquisitions to communicate the Government’s requirements to prospective contractors and to solicit proposals. This course discusses key data acquisition sections of the RFP and the importance of communicating with industry regarding data and data rights, including using Industry Day. This course inclues a fictional dramatization and does not portray actual conduct or practices of any Department of War component or any employee.
ACQ 0740: Fundamentals of an Intellectual Property Strategy
This course discusses the fundamentals of developing and updating an Intellectual Strategy, focusing on the 5-phase process. Addressing key topics, such as the purpose of the IP Strategy, assessing existing data. and identifying new data needs, this module provides a how-to primer on this critical element required in acquisition strategies.
ACQ 0750: Data Acquisition
This course is the fourth course in the Intellectual Property and Data Rights series. As required per DoWI 5010.44, each DoW program must have a robust Intellectual Property (IP) strategy to identify and manage the full spectrum of IP and related matters from the inception of a program and should be updated throughout entire product life cycle. This course demonstrates how to develop and manage an IP strategy by following the 5-Phase IP Strategy Process.
ACQ 0760: Data Rights Markings and Validation
This course explains how to apply the correct markings and distribution statements to technical data and computer software. Proper markings are vital to ensuring data are available to the right people at the right time and that data are protected from unauthorized dissemination.
ACQ 0770: Intellectual Property (IP) Issues in Cloud Storage Services
This course discusses Intellectual Property (IP) and other contracting issues in Cloud Computing and Service Level Agreements (SLA) and how to avoid them. Provides valuable insights for program managers, contracting, legal and other acquisition professionals on the intersection of IP and cloud computing.
ACQ 0800: Federally Funded Research and Development Centers
This course ensures that, upon completion, individuals will have a better understanding of Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) purpose, mission and scope of work. How they are used for special, long-term research and development needs that are integral to the mission of the sponsoring agency.
ACQ 0820: Introduction to Business Intelligence
This course introduces the concepts, processes and methodologies tied to using Business Intelligence to better inform acquisition decision making. Additionally, this course explores various Business Intelligence tools and their application to executing cost effective, mission enhancing support to US Air Force (USAF) and DoW customers.
