About Economic Development
The City of Columbia Economic Development Department encompasses two divisions that provide services to the community that promote a healthy economy and sustain Columbia’s high quality of life.
Regional Economic Development Inc.
Regional Economic Development Inc. (REDI) is a non-profit, public/private partnership committed to creating jobs for our community by attracting new business, supporting existing business, and helping entrepreneurs grow startups. Founded in 1988, REDI is funded by the City of Columbia, Boone County, the University of Missouri and many local private businesses. REDI is the point of contact for companies requesting information about Columbia and Boone County, site and building information, comprehensive area demographics and labor availability. REDI’s offices are located at 500 E. Walnut St. and offer in-house business resources including the City of Columbia Supplier Diversity Program, Missouri Women’s Business Center, Missouri Procurement Technical Assistance Centers, U.S. Small Business Administration, and the REDI Innovation Hub co-working space. Columbia Regional Airport
Columbia Regional Airport (COU) is a commercial passenger airport located 12 miles south of Columbia, serving the mid-Missouri region including Columbia, Boone County and the state capitol of Jefferson City. COU is a dynamic part of the economy, serving as an economic anchor and contributing to the community’s economic base by creating jobs and supporting a wide range of business activities. COU is served by American Airlines and United Airlines. Columbia Regional Airport is growing, with a new terminal project underway. Learn more at www.FlyCOU.com.
