A helpful offer!
[Once more a series of Nostraman runes, which.. are handily translated by the Library, hooray!]
In light of the request to learn hand to hand combat - which I will not teach - and someone else's very sensible suggestion of get. a. gun, I am willing to instruct a small number of people on which end of the pistol points towards the enemy, how to prevent it from killing YOU, and why a force multiplier is a very sensible thing to have on hand. Especially given so many of you are so small and comparatively frail.
Remember, my fellow Editors, no amount of learning how to throw a punch is going to help you when your enemy has a lasgun and a bad attitude.
Or is a Primarch. A high enough caliber boltgun, however, has a reasonable chance of slowing us down long enough for you to find a safer refuge than line of sight. And we are not the most terrible thing that may be faced in these Stories. Weapons were invented to curb these selfsame advantages!
My generosity has limits. I will not instruct other forms of weapons, but I'm sure others can. If you have such an ability and willingness to teach, leave a note attached to this one so others may find you.

Personally interested in learning more about bolters.
[He does bother to sign this one with his feather-and-eye symbol so he's at least identifiable.
... And then amends below it:]
Realizing there might be different scales of technology involved here. Suspect we have Editors who don't know what firearms are. Might be good to calibrate.

A gun is a hand-held long ranged projectile weapon that ordinarily does not rely on significant strength, such as a bow, to use. Think of it as a glorified sling, as the entire purpose is to get a small projectile a long distance. The bigger the 'stone' the bigger the target you may cripple or kill with it!
~~~
Bolters are a form of gun, save their ammunition explodes on contact.
In any case, my main weaponry is sword and shield, rapier, or scythe. Other types of swords or bladed weapons I am a fair hand at and can definitely teach a beginner, save for chakrams. Spears and polearms I have experience with though I am rusty.
I don't know if I can teach others how to manipulate aether here, but if I can I can also help with things like learning how to channel fire and frost.
I am not good with healing or a bow - I imagine there are others who can help with that.
I am no engineer, not on par with some of my brothers, but perhaps we could come up with something.
Don't they [pause. she can picture it but doesn't know the words!] kick back when they activate?
Stormwings can shoot bolts of fire from our claws. I'm not all that familiar with them but we do have weapons to concentrate it and they look a little like guns. They're long tubes anyway.
I believe in a varied strategy that includes several options. Running away is high on the list, but it's not always the right choice.
Do we have a place to safely store all the black powder involved? I would not wish for the library to blow up and take all of us with it.
[Not those kinds of guns, Siobhan. You'd think you came from a planet with mostly Renaissance tech levels in people's daily lives OH WAIT.]
Modern weapons as I know them do not need black powder and are easily and safely stored.
The library's inherent safety systems would render any such explosion, if one did happen, as harmless.
If anyone wishes to learn archery, I would teach.
Krak grenades would be more effective for most baselines here.
The emotions they feel disrupt the blink and breathing rate for accurate fire.
I wouldn't trust most of these people with a frag grenade loaded with confetti instead of shrapnel. They will do less harm with an ordinary lasgun, there's a reason we give them to the Auxilia.
feel free for Curze to have figured out who he's talking to if that's funny for you.
that
unskilled, then? [How do you say YIKES in High Gothic?]
I have not seen an armory here. [Where are these hypothetical lasguns lascoming from?
it'd just be awkward if I'm checked back in by the librarian and I gotta explain to the cops why I have a pistol in my satchel.
