In about a month, it'll have been 5 years since I set out to learn enough Chinese to read my blorbos in the language they were written in. Today, I finished reading my second novel in Chinese - Daomu Biji vol. 2 (not because I've read vol 1, but because I don't have vol 1 and just decided to go for it). It took me over 7 months but I did it.

There's one book that, as soon as it was announced, I knew was The One To Read - my ultimate goal, what I most wanted to read:

The TGCF revised edition.

Anyway, I'm gonna start it tomorrow. It's harder than my first two reads but fuck it. I pulled out my hard copies today in preparation, and I just wanted to take a moment to marvel at how fucking gorgeous they are, and share that with the TGCF loving public who may not have seen.

Oh, and by the way, the red string of fate that's on all three covers? connects if you line them.

天官赐福,百无禁忌!

wish me luck...

Weird random thought in the shower this morning. Xie Lian's heavenly title is Xianle, the name of his kingdom. Banyue is named after her kingdom, too. They both feel like total fuck ups who screwed over their homelands. I have no idea what it means or if that's just a common thing in ancient fantasy china but anyway. Thought I would mention it before I forget again bc I just found it an interesting choice.
