RETURN OF THE JEDI (1983) Dir. Richard Marquand "If you will not be turned, you will be destroyed."
so basically vader under that armor and indestructable aura is a quadruple amputee that cant breathe on his own with burns on every part of his body, but despite looking as frail as he does under that he's still the most powerful force user in the galaxy and is far from defenseless even without limbs, but despite that immense power he still gets mentally abused and is submissive and kneels before the less force-powerful and physically weaker and smaller sidious on a daily basis. awesomeee.
Star Wars: Episode IV β A New Hope dir. George Lucas (1977)
he likes having his autonomy violated and his boundaries overruled it's literally good for him. he likes being given a meaningful task within pre-defined constraints that he absolutely must do Or Else. and he likes being packed up and kept in a box. send post.
it was actually SUCH a crazy ass move to make anakin become vader at like 23 i mean like. genuinely george lucas didnβt need to do that. yeah the prequels could be about anakin in his youth but they didnβt have to end with him barely out of college lol. like a slightly bigger timeskip so heβs becoming a dad+doom cyborg from hell in his late 20s/early 30s would be totally plausible. but lucas CHOSE to make anakin incredibly young when he loses everything he loves and destroys the rest of the galaxy in his grief. and that makes it so much more amazing actually. the layers of that. anakin skywalker as a character is just a masterpiece. true artwork. chefs kiss
